What Insiders Are Saying
Always packed Morandi in the West Village is a popular Girls’ Night Out spot serving Italian favorites. The porterhouse for two is amazing.
This is the first time I dine at Morandi at 11pm. The service was subpar. It seemed like they wanted to just go home. Some guy who seemed like the manager rushed us to get dessert and said "you have to order now or kitchen will close" without even showing us a dessert menu first. How were we supposed to order dessert if we didn't know what our options were?
I'd recommend this restaurant only if you want to go for an early dinner.
Everything was absolutely delicious but when you tell a great restaurant it is your 25th anniversary, the very least they should do is acknowledge it in some way.
Way too loud !! Service terrible ! Bartender awful!! Would not go back!!
By far one of the best restaurants I have been too in London or NYC
Food was as delicious as usual, service wasn't that nice, but not bad anyway, just could have been a bit more smiling...
Excellent service from Gennaro. Had a bottle of red from Sardegna which was great. Would definitely recommend the bruschetta with ricotta and artichokes. Will be back.
Great location, great food..unfortunately the service was lacking
Thanks, always enjoy.
Went there for the pride and got kicked out because they needed to get the tables ready for dinner (?). We weren’t allowed to keep consuming or even get drinks. 4 other tables were arguing with the manager, the security guy tried to kick them out as well, it was a MESS. I don’t think they’re prepared for such a big event. Maybe they’re good for a bite or a weekday, but they definitely don’t know how to deal with big events.
Our server on Sunday was phenomenal, and the hostesses were very accommodating
We sat outside and the noise level was ok. The inside dining area was very loud when I passed by on my way to the restroom. The food was below average, very salty. My husband had the pan-seared Atlantic cod and he couldn’t finish it. I had egg-pasta with classic meatball sauce. It was alright. The service was fine, no issues. Overall an average place. If you’re driving, there’s street parking available, just may need to park a couple blocks away.
great location. sit outside. food and service has been variable between really good and just okay. Always busy so expect the staff to be stressed.
Excellent experience! The food was wonderful, the atmosphere is very appealing and the service was very attentive. There is a feeling of it being a wonderful setting for a special occasion as it was for us being my wife's birthday.
Spot for table was terrible. Stuck between a column and sewage plumbing adjacent to table. Portion size below average for price.
Expensive food, not great service, great ambiance
One of the best restaurants in London. Great food from a great inspirational chef.
Great food, real value for money, can recoment this restaurant to every NY visitor 👌🏻
Always loved this place. Great ambiance. Went back recently and was disappointed by the portion size. Could be larger for the price. Food is still delicious.
I did not feel comfortable from the moment I walked in because the manager gave an awkward look and throughout my time eating he would look in disgusted. It's unfortunate because the outdoor seating area is beautiful and on a perfect corner.
Honestly- dining at morandi is a hit or miss. I’ve had a couple of great experiences and recently it’s been going downhill. The tagliatelle bolognese is never consistent which is my favorite pasta dish to order. It’s either to salty or dry, without much sauce. The Atlantic cod was great but the sauce with the capers was so watery and the fish didn’t absorb the flavor. The fish was bland. We also ordered the procuitto flatbread as an appetizer and the was decent.
Good food. It got quite loud indoors as the night progressed
Excellent, the Gnooci with the ox tail ragu was awesome and the cod was great. We have been to every McNally spot, past and present and this was one was our first time to this one. No disappointment's here.
Good place for family
Best Steak in NYC
Very disappointing- Bolognese was flavorless goop and the burrata was overly salted
I really like this restaurant. It reminds me of Via Corato except this restaurant does accept reservations, which is important sometimes. I had as my entree hand rolled spaghetti with lemon. I love this dish and I love fresh pasta. For dessert we had freshly made ricotta fritters. They were excellent. It's a very nice place albeit a bit noisy, but if you're from New York then this won't bother you at all. I am definitely going to dine at this restaurant again.
We had such an excellent meal and such a great time. We had the peppers, the burrata, the casio e pepe, and two orders of the tagliatelle bolognese and it was just the best - all of it was outstanding. We got recommended a great bottle of wine by our server who was, by the way, the absolute greatest and was a major part of making our dinner so much fun. This is now one of our go to dinner spots. We cannot wait to be back in the city so we can come here again. There's probably 17 more things on the menu I now have to try.
Very disappointing food. The lobster and pasta dish we had wasn’t very good and was the “special.”
Terrible and rude service
I was so excited to try Morandi. We went for a friend's birthday. Our service was terrible, no one came to our table for 20 minutes, I had to flag someone down to ask to order a bottle of wine. Then, when our food came it was all cold. We had to hound our waiter throughout the night for anything we needed. Not a good experience, food was cold and service was very poor.
A stellar experience, authentic Italian fare & experience. We shared the burrata, fried artichokes (our favourite), truffle ravioli & steak. It was divine. Perfect spot for a first date, or for a couple sharing 12 years together :)
Food was great; waiter was very good. It was very noisy, and it's a bit pricey.
Table was not ready even close to reservation time
My friend had back problems and was in pain, and everyone- hostess, waiter and manager tried to help (eventually making a make-shift pillow for his back). We had great food, a lovely time and in a very chic and cozy ambiance. Will be back for sure!
Arrived on time for our 8 pm reservation. It took 20 min to be seated. I took another 20 min to get any orders in. Appetizers came out fine and were delicious. Once we were sitting for an hour (1 hour 20 min since our reservation) and our waitress had ignored us several times while taking care of the tables around us we asked for a our mains to be packed up to go, for the desert menu and the bill. Never saw our waitress again. Waited 15 min for a desert menu. The bill never came. Someone dropped off our food finally. We had to walk over to the waiter station and pay there. The food was all great. The service was horrible. I’d like hope it was an off night or someone called out but the moment we walked in the door it was bad.
It was my birthday and this dining experience helped!
This is my absolute go to place on a nice day in the West Village it's a very Parisian experience sitting out in the sunshine I have a delicious cocktail and an amazing meal and watching the people go by it truly is my favorite restaurant in this part of the city
Loved this restaurant!!! Authentic Italian cuisine. Delicious gnocchi and lasagna. I personally loved the Salmon. Wine list was excellent too. Highly recommend it!
I have been going to Morandi for 5 years and it is top-notch each time. Roberto is amazingly accommodating and is always willing to help in any way he can. The servers are always engaging and attentive. With many choices to select from in NYC, Morandi gets it right each time . That is what keeps me coming back.
We were staying in Midtown and made a special trip to the West Village to try Morandi. We had made a 7:00 reservation and were promptly seated. It’s a bustling, energetic place with a great atmosphere. Our waiter was terrific and we loved the food (and cocktails). Try a carafe of one of the house wine - its quite good and very reasonable. The prosciutto bruschetta was particularly excellent. We sat inside as it was a windy night but outside looked like a lot of fun as well. Be prepared to make friends with the neighboring table which we enjoyed. Highly recommended. We were glad we chose Morandi instead of other over hyped restaurants in the neighborhood and in particular avoid Bar Pisselino where they could care less about serving you.
