I've been coming to Moonshine for years, and it truly never disappoints. This particular occasion I needed a fine dining establishment to introduce my friends to a new person in my life... Somewhere that felt like home, but a wee bit fancier. Of course, Moonshine immediately sprung to mind. Two people in my party have a gluten allergy, and I made sure Moonshine still offered variety for those of us who have dining restrictions. And of course, in true style, the menu's abundant GF options didn't disappoint. My guests were actually happily overwhelmed with decisions, which is usually the opposite case. And affordability- I want whoever is reading this to know that you can go for broke and have a night on the town, but you have amazing affordable dinner options that still make you feel like dining royalty and happy hour deals that can't be beat. I've had many milestones happen here... Between the out-this-world food, playfully named tasty cocktails, and superior service, I will continue to be a patron for many years to come. Victor has made a great name for himself here in Millburn and Essex County, and I look forward to many more heartfelt extraordinarily delicious meals at Moonshine.

We ate here before attending a play at the Paper Mill Playhouse. The service was friendly and very accommodating (she even offered us coffee "to go" which made a cold and windy walk to the theater much nicer than it could have been). We are fish lovers so we both had fish which was cooked perfectly. Our sides were well chosen accompaniments to our fish but, in both cases, a little more spicy than we'd like.
I have a family member who has a wheat allergy so I always look for GF options when trying a new (to us) restaurant. I was impressed with the selection of GF options.
I would definitely give this restaurant a second try.

Pleasant Valentine's Day experience. Was a pre-fix menu but enough options to choose from. Only minor quibble was filet mignon could have been more on the rare side, but service was very friendly and food was great. Drinks were good, a lot of rye, bourbon style mixed drinks as the trend is towards that these days, creative without going crazy on the drinks. Would definitely recommend for a nice date or drinks at that the bar.

The food was great and the prix fixe was an outstanding and tasty value! Our server, Elyse, was excellent! She was friendly, informative, helpful, and a really nice person! This was a great pre-show dinner experience and we look forward to returning soon!

We had duck salad, avocado toast, seared salmon, duck and waffles, steak and eggs and some bloody Mary’s for Sunday brunch. I was skeptical from reading mixed reviews but thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal even the warm complimentary muffins. Unfortunately, I had to ask since the server didn’t bring it out for our table. The quality, flavor, and cooking skills were excellent: salmon and steak were medium and duck with crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Going to try dinner and hope it’s just as good.

We had a reservation for 8 pm, we got there and they said it would be a few minutes and to sit at the bar, after about 25 minutes at the bar, my husband asked the hostess if our table was ready and she said yes and took us to the dining room which was mostly empty.. so it felt like they were keeping us waiting just so we’d buy drinks at the bar then only sat us once we asked again. Food was mediocre at best. Then I got violently ill later that night from the food. Will never go back.

The place itself is nice, modern yet sleek looking. the service was top notch; however, the food was a big disappointment. hanger steak was dry, and tasteless, as well as the short ribs. the short ribs was lacking a sauce to moisten the dry meat.

would reccomend place for drinks only

We felt very decadent going to a Supper Club for brunch! It was fabulous! Great food and cocktails at a very reasonable price! We were lucky to have one of the best waiters I have ever met cover our table. He was very upbeat and personable without being overbearing. He seemed to genuinely like his job! We were going there before seeing a show at the Paper Mill Playhouse and the staff was very accommodating and made sure we had our meal in a timely way without feeling rushed.

It was a great experience and I would highly recommend it!

The food and service were very good. However, when we ordered a couple glasses of Pinot Noir, the server asked if we prefer Oregon or France. (We chose Oregon.) My date and I had a couple glasses each -- and were shocked to see an $80 bar tab! We also went for the T-bone special and, again, weren't told the price. (It was $58!)

Shame on us for not asking the prices, but when a glass of wine or entrée is that pricy, the server will typically give that information.

So, overall, our meal of one appetizer, one side, one entrée, and several glasses of wine came to $240. It was good, but not THAT good.

Nonetheless, I'd recommend Moonshine -- as long as you check or ask for the prices before you order.

Really lovely experience at Moonshine. Even brought a sparkler in dessert for our anniversary and got us to the theater on time.
Food was outstanding. Drinks were strong and delicious.

Food and service was excellent. Seating was tight and the upstairs room was very noisy and tables close. Great bar with nice craft beers and special cocktails. We will be back.

This is my 4th time dining at Moonshine and I continue to be delighted with the ambiance, diversity and professionalism of wait and table staff and the fantastic menu.

Place never disappoints ! Fabulous !!!! Brunch menu changes with the seasons and the avocado toast was amazing! Had to bring my husband back the next day ..... oh an the ricotta donut holes with honey and pistachios are to die for PLUS one if the best burgers anywhere !!!!!

Places looked great in terms of ambience. Food was so so. Service was not bad but not good either example: waiting for a drink and reminding a manager that we are waiting for 20 minutes and asked him for a drink. Manager is clueless. Beer is good and wine list is impressive. Food was ok not great so hence the 3/5 review
