This is the second time we ate here. We loved the first time. We also loved the second time. My husband and I had prefix menus. The food was cooked very well. The bread was delicious. Salad, calamari was very good. The meal was delicious The service was good. They didn’t put salt on my food and put sauce on the side as I requested. The deserts was delicious. We will come back. We were very happy
Calamari was great. Salmon had too many strange flavors. Desserts were very good. Attentive service.
As always, MoonShine never disappoints! The service is impeccable and the food is amazing. We love it there. Thank you for another perfect experience!!!
This is a great brunch spot! The food and the service were great. I'll definitely be back.
Food was very good - different dishes, fresh, delicious. Very attentive and friendly service. Great night.
Moonshine is my favorite restaurant! The tasting menu never disappoints!
Celebrated our sons graduation with a small family dinner. Excellent food and our server was professional. The cocktails were great as our guest told us. The fried calamari appetizer and salmon entree were a group favorite. You can still like a grown up even amongst dinner with teenagers in this atmosphere. Kudos to chef on this braised short ribs.
I went there with my girlfriend for her birthday and we had a wonderful time. It was comfortable, plenty of food, and a fantastic atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.
Always have a wonderful time here. Fantastic staff and delicious food, always interesting things on the menu.
We attended Sunday Fathers Day prix fix menu at 11 am and it wasnt too busy but got busier as our time was coming to end and food came out fast and was delicious and very attentive waitress.
I frequent Moonshine about two or three times per month and always find that the food is of great quality and preparation. I think that the service is always a little shakey (either new or less than attendant or forgetful). I'm not quite sure why that is. But the service is fair, not intolerable, and overall it is always a pleasure to frequent Moonshine.
My friends and I got together for a Sunday Brunch. Our food was great as always. The waitress Eva was professional and just amazing with checking on us. There were a few servers that brought the food to the table and mixed up orders causing one guest to eat from the wrong plate, so one of my friends waited for his salad to be re-made and brought to the table - human error. We love this place and will always return
Much more reasonably priced than I expected. Food was very good. Ambiance wasn’t anything impressive but it is located in a great downtown area.
While the menu is limited, the food was very good especially the special peanut butter mouse dessert. It's not to be missed.
Moonshine never disappoints! The atmosphere is great. The service is always amazing. The food and specials are on point! The cocktails are delicious.
I will definitely be back- it's one of my favorites!
This restaurant was eclectic. A little difference but very delicious. It was nice for a change. They have a pre fix menu before 6:00. My husband’s meal was from the pre fix menu. He was very happy with the food. His desert the monster bread pudding was enough for 2. I ate off the regular menu. It was very good. The service was efficient. Friendly waiters. We will definitely go back.
We had the best service! Can’t remember the last time we had service this good. Our bartender made really good drinks and was friendly. Our waiter was the perfect level of attentive and opinionated (helpful) without being annoying. He was fantastic. I think I’d go back just to try more of his recs. My stomach hurts from eating too much! But it’s because he was so great. Thanks for a memorable meal!
I have been there twice in one week. Once for a private party and then on my own. It was very good to go a second time in a short period.
We had a great dinner. Got a bit chilly with the doors open but eventually one door was closed
I had one of the most delicious meals ever - the pan seared scallops with maple roasted brussel sprouts on the side instead of what they normally came with. I would go back just to have that dish again.
Loved our meal. Last minute reservation at a great find. Food was delicious, drinks were tasty, service attentive. What more can one ask for. Overall great dining experience. We would most definitely come back try all the other food and drink creations. So happy with our choice for dinner.
Had a great lunch with friends. Place was quiet as it gets more evening traffic. Food was prepared to high standard and dishes were attractively presented. The establishment has a wide-ranging wine list, with choices to suit all price points. Mark-ups, as with all places, but there is some decent value to be had. When our preferred white wine was not available, the server offered us a more expensive wine for the price we would have paid had our selected wine been available.
Fantastic Food and Ambiance!! Def going back!! Great service and very cool music!
Amazing pre-Mother’s Day celebration. Our waitress attended to us above and beyond and was really delightful. Food was better than ever, as were the drinks. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
We were very excited to try MoonShine with the great online reviews. Overall it was a mixed meal. Service was fine, but we would have expected additional servers or wait staff to clear the table, deliver beverages, etc. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. My hanger steak arrived cold and over-cooked, while my husband loved the truffled gnocchi. The sides were also mixed reviews... spinach was flat out terrible and inedible (dry, flavor-less), while the fingerling potatoes were good.
Perhaps it was an off night so we are willing to try again. Just disappointed with our first visit.
Very disappointing dinner. Food descriptions sounded great, but did not live up to the actual food served. Gnocchi were dense and chewy. Artichokes were tough. Beef ribs were fatty. The highlight of the meal was the whipped ricotta with honey and nuts. The friendly servers could not overcome the poor quality of the food and the dark and dated atmosphere.
Amazing brunch menu. My best friend and I enjoyed it. Evan was our server and hes amazing.
We had lunch before a show. Very good food. The frisée salad was delicious. Lovely presentation. Music just a tad loud for lunch. Server was good. Dessert was yummy.
My experience at Moonshine is always amazing! this Easter was made even more special by the service I received there. Hands down, my favorite!
For starters I would go again. Would I go specifically for dinner service, maybe. I had all seafood because I went on Good Friday and overall the dishes were done well. I would have preferred a bit more acidity to the scallops that I had. The calamari was done very well and not fried to the point of being excessively chewy. The drink menu was interesting, and is currently labelled the “Winter” menu. I didn’t try anything from the drink menu but the specials did contain quite a few different flavour liqueurs.
Overall, I would go again just to try a meat based dish. The food dishes all had flavour and were done well, I personally wasn’t in love with any dish I had.
Happy hour drinks and pizza are well worth it. Nice selection and friendly service. Dinner appitezers are enough to share as small plate entrées. There was not one item we tried that was "just ok" all were delicious. We tried the tuna tartare, truffle gnocchi with meatballs, mussels, grilled octopus with white beans, calamari and the mushroom soup. We WILL be back!
Food was fabulous but service was bad. Very disorganized, scattered and people always forgetting orders. There were not many tables filled so I’m not sure why it was so difficult but it took over three hours to finish our dinner. We were 3 people and we had an app, each a dinner and one dessert. Service seriously needs to improve.
Service was a little slow at first but then improved
Food is great. Service is great. The upstairs tables are the quietest place to have dinner in the Summit/Millburn/Short Hills area. You can actually have a conversation. We love that. Only problem is parking in downtown Millburn on a Friday/Saturday night.
Amazing food and the service was also crazy good. Wonderfully eclectic menu with fabulous drink & wine menu. Wines by the bottle are ridiculously expensive but good selection. Drinks were really good! The noise level is a bit rough. Music from the bar is a little tough to take at times but not so loud you can't carry on a conversation. I'm not sure if this is a club or a restaurant... But either way, we'll probably go back.
Pricey, but amazing food and ambiance
This place is awesome all around. The dishes are unique and did specials are unique. Worth the trip.
Moonshine is a happening place, with a celebratory and happy vibe--so it tends to get noisy, especially on a Friday night. We booked an early table as we were bringing an older couple, and our service was friendly and responsive. Special requests, such as serving one of the party a little earlier than the rest of us, or requesting a specifically made cocktail, were granted with good cheer. As well as the usual drinks, Moonshine has a variety of delicious curated cocktails, which change seasonally, and also a very nice variety of wines in case you want to switch later, as I did. The soups are amazing--one of us had the creamy shrimp with tempura and cauliflower, and we all had a taste. It was a somewhat spicy and creamy blend of exotic flavors--just delicious. Perfectly done filet mignon au poivre with rocquefort mashed potatoes and asparagus was yummy and not overpowering, and an Asian inspired black sea bass with carrot puree was just right for those with a lighter appetite. For dessert, a deconstructed ice cream sandwich was a winner.
Brunch is also lovely (and quieter)--a great way to start a Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon. We will definitely be back!
The food and service were outstanding.
The noise level was very acceptable. It was an expensive evening, but very enjoyable. I look forward to returning to Moonshine to enjoy another dining experience.
I ordered the short rib and thought it was overly salty. Couldn’t finish it. My husband had the salmon and it was okay. The drinks were very good
