The restaurant was beautiful and the view amazing the food could be better it was very bland and plain no flavor and I feel their could have been more attention as customers.
Everything was OK and that's the problem. It's expensive. We spent $140 on dinner for 2; 3 drinks, 2 entrees. The view is obviously the go to feature of this restaurant and definitely adds to it's appeal. Having said that, the waiter was poorly trained, didn't help navigate the menu and was shabbily dressed. Now the menu. Completely uninspired. It's a functional menu. The cocktails menu was littered with lazy items you see everywhere else. Nothing was horrible but that was problem. I expected more. The owners of this restaurant are clearly phoning it in.
Andrea was the most gracious host. I always feel at home. The best kept secret in Malibu. Outstanding food and service. Consistent and scrumptious food with a great wine list.
Moonshadows has wonderful ambiance along the ocean. We were there for sunset and requested a table along the window. The beet salad was a delicious appetizer with a beautiful presentation. The fish of the day, short ribs, and pork chop we're also very good. The pork chop was a little over cooked but flavors were great. Overall dinner was a great experience.
Dined with three friends, seating was comfortable with a great view. Waite staff attentive without hovering. Food was cooked as specified and delicious.
Good food service was ok
Continues to be one of our favorite restaurants in the world. Great scallop and lobster. Always our first choice when we are in LA
The food is ok; the view is amazing!
Great place for dinner. We asked for a table with a view in the reservation and we got the best seat in the house. Watched the sunset and fed Marvin the fat gull. Get the seafood, its great.
Honestly this is what you would expect to get out of a high class restaurant. Our server was so friendly, gave awesome suggestions about the food and the food itself was delicious. For sure will be back for some more beautiful views and delicious food!
We have always had a lovely time. The food is excellent and the staff is exceptional.
Server seemed annoyed that we ordered drinks and apps instead of a full meal. Drinks were not that good. First time here and kind of disappointing.
Great food, great service, great unmatched views
My first visit. Friend I was with have lived in LA 14 years, and this too,was his first visit. Quick and attentive service. Did not wait long from valet parking to the table. I was visiting from Seattle and it was unfortunate weather was not cooperative. Definitely will return in the summer and early evening for a much better view.
This establishment, the food, people, the decor the labyrinthine walkways: bland. 55+
We had a great experience and dinner was superb👍 It was our first time dining here and we would definitely come back! We appreciated the owner greeting patrons, which is infrequent these days, and he was very cordial and concerned about the service and quality of food👍
Second visit. The first dinner I had was the seafood bouillabaisse which was superb. Second time I had the ahi tuna. Good, not great. A bit dry and a bit too mild. The potato were good, but since there was no sauce or any sort, they were extremely dry. The dish came lukewarm and there was not enough heat to melt butter into them. Try eating a baked potato with nothing on it. For me, the dish would be better it the potatoes has a sauce and the fish a little less dry. It was perfectly cooked, so I am not sure why it came out that way, maybe it was the fish itself. I would recommend to a friend.
We live on the east coast , but whenever we are in the LA area we make it to Moon Shadows for a lunch. Reserve ahead of time , and request a booth on the patio .... you will not be disappointed . If it’s cold or raining ....no loss, the inside tables are great.
Food is consistently good ....service is excellent.
First time there and they didn’t let us down, great service and the food was awesome! Can’t wait to go back!
First time visiting the area, we’ve seen Moonshadows a couple of times on Million Dollar Listing, and thought we would like to try it sometime, if ever we got out of the midwest. Well, the opportunity presented itself and it was everything we’d hoped for and expected, and more. Ambiance -amazing, location, stunning. Food, fantastic. Service, way above par. So much attention to detail in food presentation and waitstaff service. Highly recommend, hope to be back again in the future.
Views of ocean are nice. Parking is expensive. Waiter was rude and spoke very rudely to the bus staff, so much so it was embarrassing for the guests. Felt really bad for the bus boys. Food was good but not overly unique for the price. Would not recommend to friends mostly because the waiter ruined the experience.
It was thoroughly enjoyable except for the Bok choy. It should be taken off the menu. I was unable to cut it even with a steak knife. Nor could I chew it. Taste 0.
Met expectations. Expensive but much better than Gladstone’s or Dicks
Food was really great! I had the boullabaisse and my husband ordered fillet mignon. You can hear the waves outside crashing in to the rocks. The service was impeccable. They even gave us a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. Wonderful!
Waiter was a little rude. Was there for my girlfriends Birthday and she agreed.
come here with out-of-town visitors for the spectacular view; food is good, not great but that is not why I come
The waterfront view was great, but the food was mediocre. A decent priced meal for the view, but would like to see more flavorful, unique options on the menu.
Such a great experience. The food was great and fresh and the heaters outside made dinning cozy and worry free. The server was such a delight and very knowledgeble.
Fantastic views and it's practically on the ocean. There's a trendy crowd on weekend afternoons especially. Fun and relaxed atmosphere. Food is good, but you really come here for the views, the people watching and to meet new people. Make sure and sit outside not inside for the full experience. Servers here are super. Very helpful with menu choices and information. Fantastic service overall and done with a smile.
Just a great place to get good food, a great view, and a feeling if being far, far away.
Really disappointed in our latest experience, because we absolutely loved coming here over the last two years. Tonight, the server never once introduced himself, asked us any questions, or stopped to ask what we’d like. We let the hostess and the manager know that we were there to celebrate our second anniversary and our engagement, and it wasn’t acknowledged or celebrated in any way. Wish we would have chosen somewhere else for the occasion. For a $150 dinner for 2, the taste and quality of the food was incredibly subpar. The tuna steaks were dry and over cooked, and the potatoes they came with were the same— incredibly dry and flavorless. We’re never ones to complain about a meal, but we left the experience wishing we hadn’t even bothered and that’s never a good feeling on a special occasion.
Great ambiance and food!
Our waitress LaRue was so lovely and helped us make the evening very special for our out of town guests. We had the best table in the place and got to watch the sunset.
Moonshadows is a great place to take visitors from out of town. The restaurant is perched right over the water. The food is great. They even have a kids' menu!
Fantastic food and even better service. We had the tuna tartare special, sea bass special, calamari, and Thai shrimp dish. All were great. The view is amazing too.
Wonderful food and amazing views. It was a bit hectic as this was our 1st brunch. Our server seems like he could have used some help as he was very rushed and really didn't get to pay much attention to our table. With that said, the food still came out on time and delish. Just felt like we were being rushed
Very nice brunch with friends. Food was great! The view cannot be beat and the overall experience was wonderful.
Great overall experience, Great food, good drinks
Loved my visit for my 5 year anniversary! Everything was perfect! There is not really a bad seat in the house because of the views however was hoping for a table closer to the water. But overall great!
We had a great time. Beautiful view and delicious food. Our favorite was the Tuna Tartare.
