Moonraker Ratings and Reviews
I have known about this place for years, such an amazing view of the Pacific, hypnotic and mesmerizing. The food is fantastic, the service was perfect. Always on top of it, always professional. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, one of my favorite restaurants!
This was my second visit to Moonraker for lunch. It is bright, comfortable, with good food (delicious fish and chips), excellent service (on his own, the waiter brought a birthday dessert when my friend mentioned it was her birthday) and the most fabulous ocean view! Apparently happy hour can be very crowded but since watching sunset from anywhere in the restaurant would be stunning, I will definitely give it a try. Lunch was quiet and lovely. I can't recommend it enough.
I took my best friend and sister here for Brunch this past Sunday. It was the best brunch I've had to date.
The Brunch is Buffet Style but there are certain items that you will have to order through your server: scrambled eggs, waffles, mimosas etc...
Our server started out great but we lost her a few times. I ordered eggs and a waffle that didn't come out for about 45 minutes after I ordered them. That may or may not've been her fault but there were times towards the end of out sitting that we would have to look for her to help us out.
She was very sweet and attentive when we could find her though. Not putting her down. Just an observation.
The Scenery is GORGEOUS! I thought we would need to sit in one of the very front booths in order to appreciate the view but really any of the booths will do!
We will likely make this a monthly thing or at least come back for all special occasions.
Loved Moonrakers, we had front row seating to the ocean and it was lovely. Service was amazing, very attentive staff. We were celebrating my mom's birthday and they gave her a slice of cake with candle for free. I would definitely come back here to celebrate another birthday!
First off, their French fries are cooked in duck oil! We try to eat healthy, so if you're looking for a menu offering some traditional faire with a health conscious twist, better find something else. I had a glass of sangria (okay) and my husband had an Irish coffee (he really enjoyed that!), we had a taste of soup (small portion-really), I had the fish tacos (wished they grilled the cod, but it was deep fried -it didn't state duck oil, so I hope they used vegetable oil!) and my husband had fish and chips (he said the duck oil fries were okay). Our bill came to $75 , which considering the beautiful ambiance was not outrageous. The Best Western Plus in Pacifica could stand some modernization, paint, a facelift...the location is great, but it has that worn-out feeling. Service, however, was excellent!
I wanted to have an ocean view in a windy evening, and I remembered Moonraker had lights shining on the beach so that customers could enjoy the ocean view. It was a stormy night and the waves were so wild, we did enjoy the spectacular wild ocean so close from the inside of the restaurant! Food was great, wine was wonderful, everything was so perfect. I will definitely go back to enjoy the food and view from the restaurant soon.
We were very excited to experience Moonraker. The view alone is amazing and I have a feeling the most items on the menu were good. I personally ordered a ribeye, not something I should have ordered as it seemed to go against their grain a bit. Nonetheless, I did order the steak, I was unimpressed with the "thin-ness" and bland taste. I wouldn't recomend this to a steak lover. However, I am confident that most everything on the menu would have met or exceeded my expection.
We have been to Moonraker for brunch several times and totally enjoyed it.
This time however; I didn't think the food was up to par. I was a little disappointment overall. The carved prime rib was delicious, but there were hardly any salads to choose from and the crab was mushy (like it was frozen).
I also think that the price should NOT include bottomless Mimossa because not all people drink, but are having to pay the extra $10 anyway. Before, you could add the $10 if you wanted Mimosas. I think that would be a better option.
Views were spectacular even on a cloudy and stormy night. You could hear and watch the waves crashing into the shore. Clearly, you come to a place like this for the view and its a pleasant surprise and a bonus if you also get good food. We went on a Saturday night when they play live music in the bar. Even though our table was situated about halfway within the dining area, the music was too loud and made conversation across the small table quite difficult. It was much better when the band stopped.
Food was good but not great. The kitchen ignored my wife's request that they use less oil for her vegetarian dish. The vegetables and grains were coated in oil. Although the dish tasted good, it wasn't cooked the way she would have liked. I also was disappointed that my dish came out warm and not hot.
Service was also average. For this price point and how they try to set itself apart, we did expect a higher level of service. We repeatedly had to ask our waiter for more water or more bread.
There is no denying that this is a romantic place to take a date or a loved one.
With the amazing 2nd story views, you can often see whales during migrations. Moonraker seems to have moved from a more Italian / Fish place to a more traditional menu. Prices have climbed a bit. Seems to be under new management. Still worthwhile for special occasions. If you're lucky, you will see some unsuspecting tourist get drenched by a sneaker wave. :) Oysters at happy hour bumped up to $1.50 each from $1.00 :(
Me and my wife went for the new tear's Eve dinner. The Che's menu was awesome! I had the Wellington beef and lobster tail and my wife had 2 lobster tails for the main course. We felt very welcome as soon as we walked in and I noted that I wanted a good view of the sea on my reservation and they gave us the table! Will definitely go back to this restaurant!
The food deserves half of a star only because they offer something to eat on the menu. If you like cloudy water drenched with truffle oil then order the lobster bisque - ugh! The service is bad and so slow for not a busy restaurant. The amateur staff need to be trained to know the menu and coordinate the service. The restaurant was almost as cold as the ocean weather. This place needs a new chef and cooks that know how to prepare delicious seafood.
We started at the bar happy hour with the fabulous oysters and it was a delight listening to the singer who played an interesting stringed instrument that was terrific to listen to. then we went on to the dining area across from the ocean--what more could you ask for--and had a fantastic meal, as we always do at moonraker. This time it was the butternut squash ravioli, tuna with lobster risotto and buttermilk panna cotta. But the food there is always a lovely balance of inventiveness, deep flavor, classic flawless execution and just the right sparkle. Plus it couldn't be more comfortable sitting in those cozy booths with the ocean's non-stop magic show right outside the window! Who could ask for anything more!
We visited Moonraker during the Christmas week. We were surprised to see that the lunch area was not crowded but that made for an enjoyable lunch with out the holiday noise we expected. The view of the ocean was outstanding. The food, service and ambiance made our holiday luncheon just perfect. We will certainly return.
We visited for the Sunday brunch. The location and view is outstanding; right on the ocean's edge with great views from nearly all the tables. The spread for brunch is OK; be sure to order from the hot specials prepared to order. I especially liked the frittata. The smoked salmon was great, the peel-and-eat shrimp was so-so. The remaining choices were good but overall average. You're going to go here for brunch for the views and the ambiance more than for food. But still, a good value overall and easy to recommend.
The restaurant is back in all modern with a wall of windows to the ocean. Th booths face the water and offer great views , which are well lit at night. The wine list had a good selection, the oysters were excellent, the seafood stew had a nice portion of lobster included. Service was timely and food arrived at the timing we requested. Overall an excellent meal in a good environment.
Great champagne brunch buffet with an amazing ocean view from our table. Our food highlights: crab, oysters, shrimp, prime rib, made-to-order frittatas, and strawberry/mango mousse mini cakes, to name a few. We will definitely be back to celebrate a special occasion or to wow our out-of-town guests :).
My husband and I frequently go here. The food is always good. The wine list is also good. My husband had a Cesar Salad and seared Ahi, which was delicious! I had the butternut squash raviolis, yum. I'm a vegetarian and would like to see more vegetarian offerings.
