MoonFish - Orlando Ratings and Reviews
A solid "OK" seafood and steak place with a relatively diverse menu with entrees that come with a salad and bread . Some of the entrees came with a starch or vegetable, others did not. The food was OK - i expected more for the price, but the serving size was good. My seared nori-crusted ahi was perfectly cooked and was bigger than I expected - I would have preferred a a smaller sized cut with a serving of rice (that came with a friend's crab-crusted sea bass). But it was a pleasant meal for 7 of us - everyone could find something that they were happy with!
Always excellent food and service. Whenever we are in Orlando we come here for the ahi tuna. Price is fair and preparation is excellent every time. Over the last 6 years have never been disappointed! I asked for a quiet table and was given a booth in the corner-they actually read my request and made sure we were happy with the table. Most places don’t bother.
I went to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and they were outstanding! The table was nicely decorated and the manager checked on us throughout the night. They made sure he felt special on his day. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night.
We had Kevin as our server and he never missed a beat. Upon walking in the restaurant you have a great warm upscale feel both inside and out. Everything we had was truly exceptional but, my favorites were the wasabi wedge salad, triggerfish, lobster gravy potatoes, and ahi tuna. I will be gladly returning to this restaurant even though it’s 95 miles from where I live.
The service, ambiance, appetizers, specials, desserts and drinks were outstanding and worthy of qualifying as a fine dining experience. The fresh Stone Crab appetizer for four (4) claws was very good but I think overpriced. For an appetizer to be $79, I would think that the Server should tell you how much it is without being asked. The Shrimp Cocktail was also outstanding for $18 for three (3) large shrimp and the Stone Crabs were certainly not over four (4) times better than the Shrimp Cocktail. I was shocked at the "Market Price" for the Stone Crabs.
Fantastic seafood and regular fare. In Orlando for a convention and visited Moonfish two of 4 nights.
Family owned and run local “chain” of distinctive restaurants, without a chain feel.
Try the stone crabs when in season. Fabulous! Exceptional sides, as well as deserts
We are from Minnesota and Moonfish was recommended to us by someone that has been down there before!! We are so happy we went and are proud to say it is the best seafood we have ever had! The server was amazing! Answered all questions we had and was great at recommending entrees for us! I will definitely be visiting again when we go back down to Orlando!
First time I ever had sea bass was at this restaurant 5 years ago. Had it again — grilled with lump crab meat — and it was outstanding! And so were the string beans. My wife had mahi mahi which was also great. Service was great too. What a great place to celebrate our 39th anniversary!
Had the most amazing birthday dinner for my mom along with my wife and daughters. Coming from San Francisco, an Asian and seafood restaurant Mecca, this may be the first Orlando restaurant that lived up to our expectations of what a special occasion dinner should be. Staff was spot on with one minor exception as were the drinks and our meals (again with one minor exception). We highly recommend this eatery experience for business dinners with special clients, for birthdays, anniversaries or just a nice night out. Happy hour drinks were a bonus in price and quality especially served by our engaging and attentive perfect Grey Goose Martini mixtress Sarah. Dinner was a gastronomic delight with highlights like mouth watering fire roasted cream corn, lobster encrusted Hawaiian triggerfish and lightly truffled butter for dipping fluffy cheesy-bread goodness. Surprisingly the pork chops won the best of the evening - wow I hope somebody at your table gets them so you can all have a bite. Our serving team of JC and Tyler were spot on with the recommendations (I sadly missed the well tailored hint from Tyler not to order the swordfish (which was mushy, bland and unremarkable.) My entree along with a some awkward server aggressiveness by Tyler aimed getting us to add alcohol to our desserts that we didn't really want ( which he brought anyway and which actually messed up the great flavor of our crime brûlées - we caved and let him charge us to end the sales pitch.) were the only real blemishes to an almost perfect experience.
Bottom line: Book Moonfish and enjoy just be firm about what you don't want
I’m sorry to say this was not at all a good experience. It took a long time for a server to even approach us after we got seated. The drinks came out very slowly. The salads came out before the appetizer. We were sitting there for an hour at least and the entrées finally came out. Not sure if the server miss fired stuff or the kitchen was backed up, but it was a terrible experience overall. We heard another table describe their entrée as rubbery. We will never, ever come back. I’m sad. It was our first night in Orlando and it was not a great start.
My brother and I went for dinner, I had been at Moon Fish only for Happy Hour several times and had enjoyed it very much. The shrimps tempura were excellent, so much so that we decided to have a second order whilst we drank a very nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and waited for the bouillabaisse which was enjoyable, even though a remote relative of the one we both enjoyed in a few occasions in the port area of Marseille.
My only objection to a very nice experience was the highly priced wines: whether by the glass or by the bottle. WHY??? No reason to do so, if the prices were 10 to 20% less, customers would probably be more inclined to order wine (only very few did, around us).
Aubrey provided a very attentive the service (very pleasant attitude).
Had a business dinner with 8 people. Service was outstanding as well as the food. Order appetizers, wine, dinner etc and everything was fantastic. Easy to share appetizers was nice as well. Food was great and a good value for fresh seafood and sushi. Shannon was a great waitress and handled the" comedians" at the table very well.
