MoonFish - Orlando
I came for my birthday and was very satisfied with the service, amazing atmosphere, and well cooked steaks and sea food that my party ordered.
Great drinks great meal
Didn’t feel rushed
The spicy edamame was to die for
Friendly staff and great ambience
Food delicious and plentiful. Very long wait between salad and entree...asked several times if we would like another round of drinks...felt like a ploy. Wrong coffee for one and dessert never came. Chaos at checkout.
Because a colleague raved to my husband about the triggerfish she had at Moonfish, he decided he wanted to go there for his birthday. After reading several negative reviews I was skeptical but figured it’s all subjective. So our waiter was ok and there was a little lag time between the appetizers and the main course but it was fine, nothing terrible. But what was not fine was the food itself. Since I had read several negative reviews about the steaks, we decided to stick to the seafood. My husband had the clam chowder and triggerfish both of which he said were good but not great. My daughter and I both had the shrimp cocktail to start. The shrimp were colossal but not fresh. She then had the salmon which she said was just ok and I had a 17 ounce lobster tail that was over cooked and therefore dry and a little tough. At $4.00 an ounce = $68, I should have returned it to the kitchen, but I never do that. We just never come back. The best part of our meal were the desserts but I’m certain they were baked elsewhere and delivered to the restaurant. So our dinner ended up costing $240 for food that overall was just ok. The shame is that Moonfish is in a great location, the restaurant is decorated nicely, and the menu has many good choices. The owner just needs to hire a chef who really knows how to cook and this restaurant would be a success.
Sales were in full force. Food was great, but service all but disappeared after the main course.
We celebrated our anniversary and the restaurant manager treated us special, from flowers on the table and a crab appetizer. Prior to being seated in the dining room , we enjoy a great Happy Hour at the bar , with $5.00 drinks and a dozen delicious oysters. Our meal was delicious, with an extensive wine list . However, the service was poor. We waited for a variety of things throughout the evening. We ordered coffee and dessert , but we waited over twenty minutes, and we went to cancel the order and the manager came over , and the dessert and coffees instantly appeared. The manager apologized and picked up the tab for the dessert and coffees . The entire staff were extremely pleasant. It may have been an off night for the kitchen and our server . We would have rated the restaurant 5 Star , if we had not experienced the poor service. Give it a try !
Hub wanted the Swordfish but wanted to switch out the potatoes for green beans. The server said “NO substitutions allowed!” It seemed somewhat condescending. He had the Mahi which he said was very good. I had the 8 oz filet and it had a small piece of gristle in it. For $44, I expect better. The creamed corn is to die for. Based upon our experience this time, I don’t think we’ll be back. This is my third time here and we we so looking forward to it. Paying $160 and being disappointed is a crappy Saturday night.
Awesome food for a special event. Everything cooked perfectly, seasoned tastefully and presented nicely.
Amazing food, excelente service! Truly recommend
Service was not good. Server, Destiny, was Slow and non attentive. Didn’t get our mushrooms. The manager delivered them. Didn’t get a salad that was ordered. Told the server just to take it off the menu, but she didn’t, had to ask again to have it removed. Daily fish special was trigger fish that was way over priced, $50.00, and very blah. Only decent plate was the Sea Bass. Manager, Tina, was very nice. We have heard many good reviews on this restaurant throughout the years and looked forward to a great experience. That did not happen. Thankfully there are lots of nice restaurants to choose from in our Dr Phillips area.
the spicy tuna roll was perfect and more than enough for two people. The Chilean Seabass was cooked to perfection and Destiny was very attentive to our table.
Over priced for the items! Also felt that once the business picked up the service became delayed and not on point! The Bone in Ribeye was tough and chewy! And it became cold so I had to have reheated! My wife’s Filet was served with corn hairs on it, had to be replated. And the lobster tail was dry and over cooked and definitely not enjoyable! So for the price point paid out, I truly wasn’t pleased and or impressed!
My wife and I like Charley’s and FishBones a lot so for our wedding anniversary this year we thought we’d try another restaurant from the same ownership group, MoonFish. Unfortunately this restaurant does not live up to the others. The waiter wasn’t very attentive. I did hear him tell another table that it was only his 3rd night by himself so we were more patient than usual. My steak was cooked to the requested temp (medium) but was room temperature by the time I got it. I hate to, but I assume both my steak and my wife’s food sat for a bit and when our waiter didn’t bring it out someone else had to bring it out and make our baked potato (after the waiter explained that he would be doing it). Overall it was a lackluster experience. I would recommend Charley’s or FishBones, which are close by, over MoonFish.
Excellent restaurant for a quiet evening with family or friends. From the sushi appetizer to dessert, everything was first class. Service was over the top!
MoonFish is a delight. You can enjoy a select and delicious happy hour menu in the front section while still enjoying the high end ambience of the furnishings and decor. Dang bang shrimp and the sushi and the tuna tacos were out of this world at a great price point.
McKenzie was our server and she was a delight.
If you want a fine dining experience you enter the back of the facility where dark wood and attentive servers make you feel special. The menu is more broad with fish and steak and side orders. We did not eat in that section yet but would for a special occasion. We highly recommend this restaurant for adults and older children that would like a more adult and quality taste menu
Sevice was slow. My daughter ordered a soda which they never brought to the table. My son ordered a steak medium which came out rare. My uncle ordered salmon which came out Raw. Nobody got to eat together. They took their time and they did not care about us because we're a party of seven. Food is not worth the value service definitely not worth being there. Overall we went there for my daughter's birthday and I was highly disappointed.
Great service from Tori. All entrees were delicious but the Trigger fish was the standout. Appetizers are on the pricey side but entees were all generous portions and fairly priced. A good place for seafood.
Waited an hour and a half for our entrée. Good food, but they were not able to keep up with the number of customers they had
Great food. Amazing rolls. Service less than desirable. Slow to get drinks. Waiter wasn't attentive.
Our server was very attentive and the food was wonderful. It seemed that the person handling the front desk was being trained because they were very confused and was constantly trying to do things over and over again on the computer system. It shouldn't take 10 minutes to confirm a reservation and get seated, especially when there is no one else waiting to be taken care of. But that's what happened to us. However, once seated the hostess and wait staff were there to help us in no time. We ordered ordered drinks and appetizers and they came out in a very reasonable time. The same for our meal. Our waiter was there constantly to refill our drinks and make sure that we were well taken care of. As for the meal, we ordered the grouper, the shrimp and the sea-bass. Each was prepared perfectly and the quality of the fish was superb. It was a bit loud in the dining room, but that was mainly due to one party at a table
close to us. Other than that, and the issue with the front desk, everything was done the right way. This is a place we will definitely visit again.
One of my favorite places in spite of the high price. We decided to eat at the bar and it was as good as I remembered Best or second best place on Orlando in spite of the cost
Tori was our server and did a great job with the recommendations and checking on us regularly. The quality of the food was outstanding.
The food, atmosphere and service was outstanding. Each time we are In Orlando MoonFish is always a place we eat.
Food was amazing! Server seemed overwhelmed and seemed to have forgot about us which is frustrating when you are spending this much but the food def. made up for it and was delicious!
Started with the waiter being good and by the time the appetizer was dropped off the table he became very scarce. Saw other waiters following up with their tables and checking on their guests.
Food was excellent but not sure for the price was worth it. Nothing extra special in the presentation or flavor. Definitely the waiter made us not give you a good rating.
Great service and food. MacKenzie provided excellent service and made this a memorable
experience. I’ll definitely be returning the next time that I’m in Orlando.
Joey our waiter was terrific as was the manager. Thanks for taking such good care of us! See on next trip
Tory and Kelly truly made the evening a great time with outstanding service and conversation. Good is always wonderful and even recreated an old menu favorite for a guest.
Second time we’ve been here, and it remains excellent! Food is the best for flavor and originality. Expect to spend over $100 but it’s worth it. We come here for our wedding anniversary night.
Joey the waiter was outstanding. The food was top notch. My wife and I shall return soon with friends.
The service was outstanding, we never needed anything at any point. The food was fantastic, some of the best fish I've ever eaten. I would recommend Moonfish to anyone who wants a great night out.
Excellent food service and presentation yes I will recommend
Beautiful interior, absolutely excellent service right from the start from the valet to the host/hostesses. Could not have been a better experience! The food was really great, more than big enough portions, presented beautifully. Warm bread was fantastic. Four of us each got something different and were all extremely pleased. Highly recommend MoonFish and we all look forward to returning many times.
Service was awesome and very attentive
The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! We have been coming to MoonFish for many years and it is still our favorite restaurant to have dinner at when we are in Orlando.
Would return again
Fantastic food and service. The Cauliflower was unbelievable!
Usually can’t fault this venue but we made the “mistake” of reserving a table for Valentine’s Day and the kitchen and serving staff were unfortunately unable to manage the high demand.
Management did their best to resolve issues as they arose but they too were working with already stretched resources. Maybe taking fewer reservations for popular celebrations such as Valentine’s Day should be considered?
It was awesome, jared was great!!!
