Went for my wife's 75th birthday with are two adult children. Two great meals and two OK. We had a great time. We like eating in the bar. Service was great.
Mooncussers is a hidden gem on the Cape. We love the martinis, which are excellent and only about 2/3rds of what you’d pay in Boston or NY. The food is all excellent. My wife raved about her salmon, which was cooked perfectly. I got a burger this time and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. All the entrees are excellent though so you really can’t go wrong. We skipped it this time but the chocolate bread pudding is terrific. Worth saving some space for.
The food was good, but our waitress was also taking care of a large group for a birthday party and we were often left waiting while she helped them. The prices were a little on the high side.
The tapas was the highlight - classic garlic shrimp and tempura avocado and tuna, both were fabulous. My wife's salmon dish was wonderful as well. I am leaning toward vegetarian, but there was little for me to eat on the menu. Our server was very nice and attentive. It was a downer at the end of the night when the manager told us we could not take our unfinished bottle of wine home because he did not have the right bags, tried to blame it on the town. I thought that is a state law? Left a very bad taste in our mouths.
Mussels were outstanding. We were looking for a new restaurant to try and were not disappointed. Food was excellent. Loved the cozy tavern side. Will definitely go again
Ambience was warm, old, dark wood on the side we were seated. Overall our food experience was mixed. The Drambuie Mussels flavor profile was not compatible with my palate. The duck infused burger was good but not the wow I had expected. Truffle parmesan fries are highly recommended. The finish was a decadent chocolate caramel bread pudding paired with vanilla bean ice cream. I would return to Mooncusser's for more of what I felt they did well and to explore some of their other offerings.
Had another great meal at Mooncussers. Consistently excellent food and great service. One of our go to restaurants when we are on the Cape.
Cheryl was amazing! So knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. She was extremely attentive during the meal.
Really fantastic seasonal tapas and the specials were really delicious especially the crab ravioli and the calamari bayonets
absolutely delicious!! Can't wait to go back :) The beet raviolis, haddock and salmon were amazing.
We had a reservation and were seated right away. Food , drinks and atmosphere were great! Great service !
We have been to Mooncussers several times to sit in the bar, great bar, and Tapas. This was the first time eating in the dining room. The food was great, we still had the Tapas option and other choices. Charlotte served and she was wonderful, made a great wine recommendation and was very attentive. I would recommend Mooncussers for a quiet dinner for two or a party of ten.
Pleasant atmosphere, excellent server(Cheryl Handren), very comfortable, mushroom bisque, was my appetizer, wife had a ravioli (Tapa) with crab/Mornay sauce, both of us had Steak Au'Poivre, whch was excellent(a little too much peppercorns for wife) and a chocolate filled, chocolate round cake, with caramel and vanilla ice cream, also excellent.Drinks were well done and it was an enjoyable experience
Another great meal at Mooncussers!
Only disappointment was that we Ordered a burger medium and it came out rare
Another fabulous meal at Mooncussers! It is time to add some of the specials permanently to the menu! The short ribs (special) with spring vegetable and buttermilk mashed potatoes was fantastic! The mushroom bisque and orange/citrus crème brulee need to be permanent fixture too! So glad we made reservations - a necessity even in February, as this hidden gem is no longer hidden!
The carpaccio appetizer was outstanding as well as all our entrees. Had the parpadell with lobster scallops and shrimp it was extremely good. Our other party members had really good meals. The dessert was also really good homemade bread pudding and cheesecake was top notch. Will make a point of returning when back in town.
Service was attentive and ambiance cozy and relaxing. Was not disappointed in anything !
Great owners, warm, comfortable atmosphere, wonderful experience for my first-time visitors! They loved every bit of the evening - can’t wait for their next visit - they want to make it an annual event!
We have made this our favorite place to dine. The board specials are always worth trying! The owners always make us feel welcome!

Went for Valentines Day.
Have been there numerous times and have only once not been completely satisfied.
Our server Chris, like the rest of the evening, was perfect.
Can't go wrong at Mooncussers.
We've been here three times and love it. The food is unreal and the owners are very nice and accommodating.
We went to Mooncusser on Valentine's Day. Both of us had the specials that evening, lamb Hank and duck breast. The plates had a lovely presentation and the food was very good. My husband said his lamb was excellent. We finished our meals with a shared chocolate bread pudding, which was just a wonderful way to end the meal. So yummy!
Our waiter was great and helped to make the meal and overall experience very enjoyable.
Our server got things off to a great start. We had an early reservation on Valentines Day, and she was welcoming and enthusiastic about the restaurant. We both started with the hose special salad which was a creative ensemble of greens bound in a novel spiral cucumber slice. My shellfish was served over a medley of fresh vegetables and was done perfectly. My date had the grilled salmon which was also done well, crusty exterior and moist in the center. We will be back with Friends!
One Of our Favorites. Excellent dinning options, cocktails, an amazing burger. this is a must try in Harwich!
Loved the food our server was very helpful I had the wild boar shank it was delicious my wife had the duck infused burger that was amazing recommended to friends can't wait to go back
Celebrating New Years Eve a day early
Best restaurant on the Cape! As a Harwich High School graduate living in Atlanta, GA this restaurant exceeds all expectations. Creative dishes, freshest of food, awesome Cape Cod atmosphere. Get a table with Alex. She is awesome. Incredible service. One of my favorite places and an incredible wine list.
We always enjoy our meals here since they have a variety of small plates two of which can be put together to comprise a meal (or one will do for a small appetite). The selections are for the most part creative. The hamburgers are even great. Overall the meal isn't too pricey. We have had friends meet us here; they have said they would come back.
Have been here several times but not in the last year and was looking forward to the cozy tavern experience with very good food that I had had in the past. The tavern seemed to have lost its cozy atmosphere - lighting, tables, etc. - seemed to have been neglected. This place has the potential to be a great authentic tavern dining experience but they seemed to have lost the attention to detail. The service was friendly but lacked sophistnication - waitress literally put her hand on our plates when leaning across the table instead of walking around the table, and when we asked if the lights could be turned down she said no, then asked the bartender who did indeed turn them down. It was obvious the lights had been turned on to clean prior to dining hours and then left on - again, no attention to detail. The food did not quite live up to the menu which is very interesting - pork belly was rubbery, not succulent e.g.
I would summarize by saying that there seems to be an overall absence of oversight by ownership and I would suggest ownership get back involved in taking a hard look at the experience and training of staff, quality and consistency of the menu, and a fresh look at the decor. It's all in the details and this could be one of our favorite restaurants - otherwise we will move on and be disappointed in having to do so.
The food was fabulous!! The service, the ambiance was wonderful; cozy, inviting and delicious place, especially for a chilly winter night.
The food was fantastic and our server was knowledgeable and friendly.
Drambui mussels were excellent. This was the second time we enjoyed them. The braised special was a short rim and marrow bone with polenta and sugar pumpkin. The meat was tender but way too salty. The polenta made everything taste like grits and mashed potato would have been s much better accompaniment. The waitress told us it would be mashed potato and it wasn’t. The haddock was good but the sauce again too salty and overpowering. Had what the waitress said was bread pudding but it was some dry cake ball.
The food is outstanding. The size of the entrees was huge. I would recommend choosing tapas and sharing them or ordering tapas and one or two entrees for four people. I would appreciate the restaurant offering half-size portions. The waitstaff was very helpful and checked with the kitchen to see what options I might have that did not include garlic. The kitchen staff was very cooperative in accommodating my preference. Every one in the party was extremely pleased with the meal.
Delicious food and ambiance....will be back! Great find!
WE WENT TO MOONCUSSERS OFF-SEASON IN NOVEMBER. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND, JUST BEWARE THAT THE TAPAS ARE MORE LIKE FULL-SIZE ENTREES. WE'RE USED TO MUCH SMALLER TAPAS SO WE OVER ORDERED BUT ENJOYED EVERYTHING AND BROUGHT HOME OUR LAST TWO TAPAS FOR LUNCH!
Food was awesome! Best Cod I have ever had! It is an old and historic Inn converted to a restaurant.
Food and service were fabulous. Noise level was terrible. Too many tables packed into a large room.
We dined at Mooncussers three times this year and each meal was superb. We often stick to the tapas, and you can't go wrong there. But I finally had the steak frites last time and it was cooked to perfection, with fabulous fries. The very gracious owner always drops by to say hello. Highly recommended.
had a nice dinner at the bar. enjoyed the game meal which was wild boar and an amazing burger. drinks were very good with house made blue cheese stuffed olives.
Interesting, affordable wines, fresh veg/greens, great burger/fries, good service
