Moon River Brewing Company
Whether you are new to Savannah, or just passing through, you find a warm atmosphere and a great selection food and spirits. We can accommodate groups, or a table for two. Either way, Moon River Brewing Company is a great start to a good time.
Downtown Savannah offers on-street parking, and Moon River is also located next to the Whitaker Street Parking Garage, one of Savannah's newest and largest parking decks.
It was so loud inside that we had to move to the beer garden. The menu in the beer garden is significantly more limited than the inside menu. Although we were missing the fried food that we were expecting to have with our beer and the seafood, we still had a lovely experience in the beer garden. Food was fresh, interesting, tasty, and paired well with a beer. Would return.
We arrived at Moon River at 8:30 on a Thursday night. I initially thought that they were really busy but it turned out that they just had all of the customers shoved in the front section and the entire back was empty.
We were informed that several of the appetizers were gone and no longer an option along with all of the fries. My kids wanted burgers to eat but there were no fries so they were offered potato chips instead. We ordered a kids burger, adult burger and a sandwich. It took 45 minutes for us to get our food and then the order was wrong and had to be fixed. We were not offered any sort of compensation for our time, bad dining experience and lack of options.
We had dinner - probably a better lunch spot. Didn’t have the brew we wanted, but it what we got was good.
We visited Savannah for the first time, and have heard a lot about Moon River. We stayed virtually across the street , so very close for us. We went over for an early dinner, and the food did not disappoint! I had the crab melt and potatoes au gratin with smoked gouda! Delicious! Next time we may go later at night, and perhaps go for a ghost tour too!
We sat at the bar and enjoyed good service. I drank the American IPA and was pleased. Wife enjoyed Captain’ Porter. I ate a grilled chicken sandwich and wife had a burger with bleu cheese. The star, though, was the smoked Gouda scalloped potatoes. Solid meal & good experience.
I hate leaving bad reviews after only one visit but this place deserves nothing but that. On a positive note...the only positive...the beer was excellent. But it takes a sharp turn down from there. Service was terrible...had to ask her to take our order...asked 5 times for water...took forever!!! The food they had...they were out of most...was alright if it was cooked to temp...raw burger... or prepared properly...empty ravioli. The menu online also does not match the actual menu so my vegetarian wife was let down by the lack of what would’ve been a great pimento cheese grilled sand which. I spoke to the manager about all of this...something I hate doing...and she gave me a gift card to try them again. I will try them again but will sit at the bar and only drink the beer.
We went fir the Haunted experience. We were very surprised there was Trivia night! It was great, we had the best time. The burgers were amazing! Bill was our waiter and the fact that I remember h=that tells you how good they were. He told us some ghost stories and brought us to the basement! Very cool!
Moon River Brewing for dinner is okay. It’s located in a historic building, and many ghost tours walk through the restaurant to learn about the haunted history. The food and table service inside are just so-so. They have a great beer selection and bartenders, and if you’re seated at the window the people watching on Bay Street is fun. If we ever return it will be to have beer and light bites in the beer garden (which you can’t reserve on opentable) or to grab a to-go beer. There are plenty of great places to eat dinner in Savannah - skip this one.
Solid food and cocktails - once we told the server we weren’t interested in beer, they seemed to not pay as much attention to us as other tables who ordered beer. But for a good, casual meal it hit the spot.
Great service and food!! Atmosphere was fun and enjoyable. Would dine there again.
Great service, great food. Loved the atmosphere A must to go again
Great craft beer, vey good food. We experienced slow service, but those around us didn’t. Must have been a fluke.
Good food, good service. We were there on Mother's Day and our server put together a small dessert plate with fresh strawberries and whipped cream with no charge. Someone poked me in the back as we were leaving - but there was no one behind me! Maybe one of the spirits that haunt Moon River?
Didn’t have what I came for, brought my food way before my husbands so I was done eating before he even got his dinner
The Brewery is one of our Savannah traditions, and we've yet to go through or stay in the city without stopping for a meal. This time we made reservations in advance. It was easy to do and let us get right in with no waiting. Great place with delicious food and friendly and efficient servers.
We were celebrating our youngest brother's graduation and enjoyed our time there. It wasn't overly busy, it wasn't loud, the food was tasty (not extraordinary but good food...think burgers and salads). Our waiter was nice (can't remember his name, but he's a tall, slender Caucasian man with shoulder length dark hair) and he was awesome. We felt welcome and we'd go back.
Great food, really good laid-back ambience and our server was personable and really good at his job. You could tell he was having fun and liked it there, and that makes a huge difference in the way a server comes across. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area.
The start of my husband's (70th) birthday week celebration.
They don’t take reservations for outside seating through Open Table, so the only way we could get outside seating was as walk ins. Food was great, but since we were not big drinkers we felt a bit rushed. Great ambiance and a wonderful location. I recommend the Thought Slayer.
Fun restaurant. Great ribs! Place to go for a casual meal. Interesting beers.
Not a four star restaurant, but not every restaurant is.
My wife and I landed late evening, starving and tired. Walked into Moon River, Matt was our waiter and gave a warm greeting. He’s the sort of server that talks to you as a friend, clearly he enjoys his job and he’s good at it. He had terrific beer recommendations, good menu knowledge and kept great track of us throughout our stay. The roasted pepper soup was outstanding, we split the nachos which were the best nachos I’ve ever eaten. Beers were outstanding. We will be back soon!
great service - great food - great location - nothing fancy
I eat at Moon River every time I come to Savannah so I was excited to bring a group of girls for a special occasion. Unfortunately, I will not be back and I am embarrassed that I recommended this restaurant and brought these lovely ladies. The food was absolutely amazing. The service was terrible. The waitress was beyond hateful. When asking for lemons for water for a second time since we didn't receive them the first time we were told "In a minute!" When she shorted me 35 cents I kept quiet because it is such a small amount. However, when she shorted another girl $10 and it was addressed she was extremely rude. She made the comment to one girl "here's your drink from just a server" and then rolled her eyes. It got to the point that the girls would not ask for anything because she responded with sarcasm and a rude tone every single time. She even got hateful when I asked for the check and then more or less raised her voice at me when she decided I should be ready to give my cash to her to pay for the meal. Despite her disgusting attitude she was left a very good tip by each and every girl. However I made her aware that the service was unacceptable, I was and am still embarrassed that I ever suggested we eat there, and I told her that I will not be back. I am choosing not to name the waitress because hopefully when I confronted her I did her a favor and she treated her other customers for the night with more respect than she did us. My intent is not for anyone to lose their job, that would do more harm than good. I would suggest management pay attention to how their customers are treated and possibly a staff meeting or training exercise on customer service.
We asked for a table that was quieter and with better lighting and declined to accommodate us although the restaurant was half full. We left and went to a different establishment nearby.
Very good food! Loved the beer and sandwiches there
Great food, fun patio, pet friendly and excellent service.
Sorry to say this was a big disappointment! They were out of everything and discontinued what was on the menu that we wanted. The waitress apologized and said she didn’t realize that online menu was still out of date. Wasted a hour of time for nothing.
My beer choice was out. They were out of several items. One side of of my sandwich was burned (so was the lady's at the next table to us) and the broccoli was warm not cooked. Husband's food was bland and ordinary, nothing special. They took the cost of my dinner off the bill, but how do you run out of so many items, burn food and under cook food AND then serve it to the customers?
We enjoyed the flight of beers but wish Restaurant would offer 4 beer flight. The beers are very good - we are connoisseurs from the NW and review every detail.
Food very good - enjoyed appetizer, then dinner.
Our waiter, Matthew, most helpful and knew the menu. He made good suggestions.
This is a brewery so the best part of the experience is the brew. The food is good. Some is typical bar fare but some of the starters are delicious and outside the typical bar menu (shrimp on ravioli). The restaurant has character and there are many ghost stories about the building where this restaurant is located.
Great beers. Food was meh. Stick to bar food and their wonderful beer and you’ll enjoy this place.
Our waitress was great, but this restaurant was out of everything! Out of sweet potato fries, out of fried green tomatoes, out of burgers (how can a restaurant that serves several different burgers be out?), out of two other main dishes we tried to order.
We thought we were being punked or on candid camera, but no.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
It is very noisy and crowded. Difficult for two people to hold conversation. Understaffed for waitresses, long wait for service. Finally got drink but changed mind about eating there and went elsewhere.
Ten people for a birthday dinner. Made reservations weeks ago & noted "b'day" on Open Table. The birthday was never acknowledged by Moon River. The place was maybe 1/3rd full at best but took forever to get our drinks. We contemplated going up to the bar but there was a line yet only a few people seated at the bar...maybe other tables had issues too! Food (most ate burgers) was average at best. No vegan options for 1 person in our party; salad & fries was her dinner. Waitress was rather snotty right off the bat when we asked to order food as drinks were taking forever..."Well, I've been working on your table the whole time!" Guess she was brewing the beer?? Beer selection limited to their beers "well we ARE a brewery!" per the waitress. Been to Savannah MANY times but 1st & LAST time to Moon River.
I chose Moon River Brewing because it allows pets on the patio. The location is very convenient, and easy to find. The food was very good and our waitress was great. Everyone was so friendly to our dogs. They even keep water bowls for the dogs. There are lots of tables outside, so except on the busiest of nights you should be able to situate yourself away from other tables if you wish.
Thanks very much for allowing our pets to join us. I would not have been able to try your restaurant without that option.
Party of 8 called for reservations because we were unaware going out with a large group if they would be able to accommodate. Sadly they were. We sat down 15 minutes after they opened we were the only ones in the restaurant. We were greeted by our server. He got us drinks and took our order. About 10 minutes after we ordered another table sat down. After another 30 minutes 4 people in our party received our food. 10 minutes later I asked where the rest of the food was. The waiter said it was coming. And that he’s sorry but he’s only allowed to put 4 orders in at a time. Another 5 minutes goes by, and the other table got their food. I went to speak to a manager and she apologized and offered us 10% off. The rest of our party then got their food. It was mediocre. And he asked if we wanted to go drinks. Someone said yes, a sweet tea to go. And he brought someone else a lemonade and not the sweet tea. There are so many other restaurants in Savannah go somewhere else.
Good basic brew pub. Beers were fine, although nothing special. Same with food, pretty much what you would expect in a well done brew pub burger. Erin, our server was delightful and made the evening even better. If you're looking for a beer and burger in Savannah, check it out.
Should not be a Open Table's list. Many other great restaurants in Savannah.
We had a big group and they were very accommodating!! Service and food were great!!
The service, beer and view was AMAZING. The food however was on par. I would recommend this place for drinks and service.
