Great little place with a better atmosphere then most of the places we walked past in china town.
Food tasted burnt. Waitress seemed put out that we asked for sauce for our pot stickers...We had heard good things, but were disappointed.
We went with a group of friends and had 10 people in our party. It was great to go with so many people - everyone ordered their own dish and we all shared. This was a great way to get a taste of everything and this is the best Chinese food experience we’ve had in a long time. The service was friendly and quick with more drinks when asked! I would highly recommend Moon Palace!
Service is slow and has been the last few times I've been in. Food is really good and the sizzling rice is a must try.
Excellent food as always!
Great food at reasonable prices. I went there for the soup dumplings, which were great (although I would have preferred a little more soup and less filling). I will definitely come back.
Great for special family events. Prompt and attentive service plus excellent food.
After trying a few "new" style Chinese restaurants in Chicago this was a real relief. Dim sum just like we liked it - good soup dumplings and a very generous serving of shrimp and scallops. Great prices in a typical Chinatown decor. Best Chinese we found in Chicago this trip.
Food is always great and atmosphere is relaxed. Service is good and staff is welcoming but not overbearing.
The Moon Place was an authentic Chinese Restaurant. It was reasonable and accommodated a large group.
The service was not friendly. Waitress was terrible. My veggie roll was horrible. Will not go here again.
Food was OK. My cocktail was weak, and had little flavor. Service was the worst we ever had in Chicago or its suburbs.
The owners and wait staff at Moon Palace went above and beyond to make sure my family and I had a really enjoyable dinner!
Awesome food every time! Love this place! Food is amazing!
Moon Palace was great for a group. We ordered everything family-style and they were willing to accommodate. We got 3 bottles of wine, a few starters, and 4-5 entrees between 7 people and ended up paying less than $35 a person. It was a great value and the food was good. I would definitely recommend the Moo Shu Pork and Sesame Beef.
Extensive menu. Great choices. Excellent service.
The service was great and very friendly, but the soup dumplings were average at best, and I also found a hair in my food.. that didn't belong to me.
Food was cold and we ordered soup which did not come until we reminded the waitress. So they then returned the entrees to the kitchen and served the soup. The entrees came later and were ice cold!
Been going to Moon Palace for years and it always worth the trip. The food is excellent & the service is top notch. Greta location and always a good place for larger groups
Took the water taxi to this restaurant. Lots of fun. Staff was exceptionally friendly and the food was great. Good value.
Though we visit Chicago fairly frequently for family events, I had never been to Chinatown; my husband He told me to pick the restaurant, and after a quick scan of reviews I selected Moon Palace. It was off of the "main strip" and was not at all busy when we arrived. The service was prompt, friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding. The ambience was also more upscale and romantic than many of the other establishments appeared to be. Moon Palace is next to a firehouse and some firemen outside asked how our meal was: we told them it was "terrific" and they answered that it always is, they haven't met a disappointed person yet. You bet I'd go back.
We definitely are going back! This place was great!! We went there on a recommendation. The service and food were superior and the restaurant was clean and attractive! Love it!
A favorite place, we had salt and pepper shrimp, a lamb dish, orange beef, and more and it was really delicious. Always reasonable too.
Authentic food, lovely place on the edge of Chinatown close to convention center. Everything was so good and fresh. Hubby is a strict vegetarian and they had plenty of options for him. We loved it!
Great value, great food, great service. No complaints, would definitely return, and much better than some of its peers I have dined at.
A very good Shanghai Chinese restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown. A large and diverse menu. Food is well prepared, fresh ingredients, and there is something for everyone on the menu.
We met out of town family for dinner. A few people had dietary restrictions. The restaurant was able to accommodate everyone and the food was delicious. Soup dumplings were good but contained very little soup. Spicy eggplant was delicious. Service was good even though the restaurant was packed.
Well, I know this is petty, but I noticed that they were giving a single rose to all of the mothers/ladies, but I did not get one from them when it was time to go. (I'm 57 yrs old) It may have been because they were so busy, but my feelings were a little hurt, I thought it to be a nice gesture on Mother's day.
Another thing, they did not tell us that we could have validated our parking, they asked us at the parking garage and the restaurant never mentioned it.
I still enjoyed the experience.
We have a group that goes here every few months. Service and food always good. Been going here a long time.
It's always a pleasant experience at this restaurant. All the employees are very friendly and helpful and the food is always exceptional. I can't find food like this anywhere else.
A favorite! Consistently good.
Love the Orange Beef. Get it every time we are in Chicago.
Good variety of Chinese dishes, quick service, small, open, may be crowded and noisy. Limited parking in front, but municipal parking lot half a block away. A little surly service, but knowledgeable and efficient.
I felt rather disrespected by the waitress as she threw the lap napkin on the table. There were none on our table. Maybe I'm being over sensitive but they were definitely thrown on on the table. The food was amazing!
Was some of the best Chinese I have ever had. However, the service was slow. I thought it was odd that everyone's food was brought out at different times.
We are regulars at Moon Palace. My husband and I love the food and atmosphere. The service is great and again we love the food!!!!
Moon Palace is one our favorite Chinese restaurants in Chicago. I've been there many times over the last couple of decades from their original space to the newer upgraded space. We keep going back because we know we'll have a good meal at a fair price. Service can be spotty depending on when you go but the staff is usually very friendly and helpful. This time a couple of our friwanted to share a soup and ordered a large size. Our server immediately told them that a small would be more than enough...not something one would typically experience at a Chinese restaurant.
I certainly recommend Moon Palace as a good place for your next Chinese meal.
If you're going for dim sum you might want to look elsewhere. They don't do a dim sum cart service.
Excellent food. Our waitress was very helpful patiently explaining the menu as well as the regions of China where the specific food came from. We loved the dumplings.
This was our first time Moon Palace. We will be back with our family.
