Moody's Bistro Bar & Beats Ratings and Reviews
We had a great time at Moody's. We had reservations and our table was ready and waiting for us when we walked in the door. Our server was friendly, knew the menu well and was able to make recommendations for us. I had the scallops... they were perfectly done! There was a lot of activity the night we were there, but not so much noise that you couldn't have a good conversation with those at our table. We'll be back!
Seated quickly for our reservation. Food was delicious, all three courses. Service was just okay -- not terrible, just okay. Dirty appetizer plates and empty glasses left on the table throughout dinner, even after we stacked them in the middle. Had to ask for more water, had to ask for another drink as neither were offered.
Love the fact the Waiter recognizes us and gives us personal service. The food was awesome and unique. They were gracious and accommodating when we didn't want to sit in the bar where the live music was going to be loud. We eat here every time we're in Truckee!
The service was average, our waiter seemed rushed and not very attentive. Our date salad came out with no dates and rather than take the whole salad back and fix it... he brought us some dates on a plate. The salad was delicious however. The fried green tomatoes appetizer was outstanding.
My wife requires gluten-free options and I cannot consume alcoholic beverages. But Moody's had enough choices for both of us. We were there for dinner to celebrate my birthday. The reception staffer had noted so on our reservation. Although the food was very good, we were somewhat disappointed with our waiter. He was fairly attentive, but forgot to bring our coffee to accompany a slice of flourless chocolate decadence cake to celebrate my birthday. There was a simple lit candle in a parfait scoop on top of the cake and a fairly brusque "Happy Birthday" verbiage by our waiter. The cake itself was small and way over-priced. I thought that it would have been a complimentary offering.
Great dinner in Yountsville. It was raining so the outdoor tables were not available. This delayed us getting seating for our reservation by 15 minutes, but fully understandable.
Highly recommend eating here for lunch or dinner as you visit this quaint little town.
We were seated right away, next to a station full of dirty dishes with multiple staff running around. Our appetizer came immediately, although the tomatoes and mozzarella were good. The balsamic reduction was much too sweet. We ordered the fried chicken and the salmon, my son enjoyed his Fried Chicken very much. However these salmon seem cooked ahead of time and came with a barbecue sauce . Definitely not worth $38 . Our main course showed up minutes after our appetizer was taken away. Which lead us to believe that our meal was precooked. The food was average, but the service was so fast that you could have been in and out of there in 30 minutes. It is not the kind of experience you want when you spend $150. We also have to send back our dessert because it was not up to satisfaction. It was not properly cooked, and then stated that they were out. We ordered a second dessert which they charged us for. Overall you dont like to spend 150 dollars and be there for 30 minutes. If I want a meal that will last 30 minutes I might as well go to In and Out for twenty bucks.
Our food was outstanding as was our waiter. My peach salad and my husband's watermelon salad were very creative and delicious (even the table next to us was raving about the same salads). My salmon entree was excellent and husband' s steak bearnaise with fresh crab on top was exceptional. We try to visit this restaurant every time we are in Truckee as it's food and wait staff are always dependable.
We frequently visit Moody's as a half way point. My mother-in-law meets us from Nevada City and we drive up from Reno. Sitting out side allows us to bring our dogs. Always enjoying the food and treated very well. That is why we keep coming back. Good food and great service!!!
Outdoor seating was comfortable in the back for our evening meal, especially on a hot day. The cocktails were very good and brought quickly. The calamari & shishito peppers were quite good. My peach salad was very summery and full of flavor. My bison steak was prepared perfectly. My wife's watermelon salad looked refreshing and she said it was very good. Another dinner companion had the chicken roulade and remarked that it was a nice presentation and was cooked very well. The vegetarian pasta was to our younger person's liking. Our other friend had the scallops, she didn't quite finish as the portion was generous and delicious. Good coffee to finish.
Our server and busboy were friendly and prompt with their service.
I love this restaurant... the food is always really good, the service is great, and they allow my little pooch to join us outside (unlike Bar of America across the street).
The wine we had was also really really really good.... I thin it was a Sancerre, although I shouldn't tell everyone in case I want to go back for more :-)
Love this place. Been top of my list in Truckee for about 8 years now!!
Maybe it was due to being the 4th of July and their "A" team was off celebrating the day? The service was poor and food was extremely disappointing. Our food was brought out randomly after about 30 min. after ordering and it required several requests for bread, water, and cheese to add flavor to a bland pasta dish. If you go here stick to the basics. My kid's pizza and burger were solid. I ordered a rolled chicken dish that was lacking in flavor, texture, presentation and freshness. I think it was premade and reheated. I was very hungry but suspected it was spoiled so I stopped eating; they were kind enough to take it off the bill and the manager came to follow up which was thoughtful. My wife ordered sea food and was not able to finish her meal either. She became ill about an hour later and wasn't able to join us for fireworks at Donner Lake. It's a drag when you're out with your family and have vacation plans unraveled by poor service and spoiled food. We had high hopes but won't be back!
Pricey but worth it! Delicious new menu with choices from steak to scallops to salmon. We didn't get their famous tomato soup en croute, but it looks delicious! Deviled eggs with truffle oil, salmon and ribeye were highlights. Grilled shishito peppers were tasty, but the order was tiny for the $$. The deck out back is lovely and the service is attentive. We would definitely go back.
As locals who comes here many times a year and refers often, we were disappointed to see the portion sizes shrinking. Our salmon filet was quite small and the vegetables plated under it were microscopic at a level that filled our table with amusement. 2 of the 4 of us had the salmon. The appetizers were laughably small as well and certainly even funnier when trying to share with the table. We joked that it was like eating at Trokay. Get it together Moodys. You are not Trokay nor does anyone want you to be! We will probably not go back for dinner for awhile because of this experience.
