Moody's Bistro Bar & Beats
We had dinner here to celebrate my husand’s birthday. The service was superb and the food was excellent! Always a nice time to be had at Moody’s
Delicious cubano sandwich. Decent gluten free outings. Nice outdoor seating.
We love Moody’s
The veal osso buco was not great - fatty and strange polenta
Sides and salads were good
We were a few minutes late to our reservation--they welcomed us with no problem Great pizza and salad, wine was enjoyable and service was outstanding. One of our favorite places.
Moody's menu is very good and the food was tasty. The dishes were too large for the portions (the portions were fine). We were seated by the kitchen and the sounds from there were not pleasant, including the door which banged each time it opened. In addition, there were a couple tables not close by that were very loud. It was difficult to talk without shouting across our own table. In fact, we noticed that everyone near us had to shout.
Food was ok. Overpriced. Had reservation for 4 but was seated in the bar area. So loud could not hear ourselves think.
Always amazing food
We have been going to Moody’s for years and have had some great meals but lately the food and service have been subpar. Won’t be going back for a while.
The Parmesan and truffle fries were excellent. The crab and mushroom pizza was tasty.
The chocolate peanut butter sin cake was delightful- the orange sauce, peanut butter filling and chocolate worked together.
The food was tasty but not exceptional. Portions were small, prices fairly high. In order to justify the prices and portion size the food would have to be better. Service was so so. I was brought a steak knife I didn't need, the dessert menu was tossed on the table as the waiter rushed by. Water, which was the only thing 2 of us were drinking, wasn't refilled.
I would recommend Moody's but with caution that it's very pricey and it took forever to get our drinks - a few different rounds. The atmosphere isn't anything outstanding to me, personally. It was nice but wasn't "knock it outta the park" great.
made reservations 2 weeks prior for our anniversary- was seated in bar at very small table where people were walking by and talking very loudly. Asked to be moved to dining room - had to wait 25 minutes . They did not seat us in dining room (even though we saw 5 empty tables for 2 available) Was seated in patio section - was cold, nd heaters did not do anything with the temperature where we were seated due to distance to heater. The service bad. At end of our dinner they brought us someone else's bill for over $300 - our bill was $100. We had to wait to get this corrected. They said our credit card will show the $300 charge with a credit for the same amount. We will have to wait for our bill to come to check it. Overall service, ambiance very poor. We are locals and will not return to this restaurant. Very disappointing.
We were here for a bachelorette party - party of 10. Everyone loves their food, the music was great as was the service. Moody’s doesn’t disappoint!
Husband said steak frites were delicious. My margherita pizza was meh.
Hostess station is poorly located deep inside the bar - not welcoming at all. Menu lacks choices. Ambience is LOUD. Wine selection is poor. Overall, felt like a pricey tourist trap. Caught us! But will not go back.
Great food and service
A must do in the Tahoe area
Loved the atmosphere had a great time with my family. Food was outstanding and so was the waitstaff
Limited menu Table was on the main street with dogs all around.
We took friends because we remember Moodys as a upscale place .This was not the case.
Likely we will not be back
Moody's is ALWAYS a wonderful place to meet friends and make new ones.
Excellent meal, drinks and service! Thanks!!
Excellent food and lovely service. Appetizers were great. Suggest the ahi poke and thee tomato salad. Good bread and the scallop dish was perfectly prepared.
Have not been to Moody's in over a year. Had out of town guests so I took a leap of faith going out for Sunday brunch. Food was outstanding and menu still has some of the old favorites and new fare which we'll have to try. Staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. Ate outside on an absolutely beautiful day and no one ever hovered to get us to leave - we were there for two hours. Pleasantly surprised to have a quiet Sunday in Truckee so that locals could enjoy downtown restaurants and businesses well before shoulder season.
This is no ordinary restaurant!! The chef is talented, the service professional and we look forward to dinning here every time we are in Truckee.
We love Moody's! Consistently they serve great food, have great service, and it is always relaxing to hang out there. The live music is always fun too.
We celebrated a 60th birthday around a table in the dining room. Craig, our server, was excellent again. The food was truly exceptional to a person and we covered a wide range of the menu from specials to longstanding menu staples. The only comment was the S'more dessert was a bit off the exceptional standard. All in all, another great evening at one of our favorite restaurants!
Everything about our experience at Moody’s Bistro was perfect! I made reservations for my friends bday well in advance based on other reviews. We arrived at 930 pm and opted to take a table in the front to enjoy the jazz band. All staff were very friendly and accommodating! The staff, cocktails, food, ambiance, music, and vibe made for an unforgettable evening and we are already looking forward to our next getaway to visit Moody’s again.
Excellent as always!!!!
We had an excellent evening at Moody’s on a busy Friday night. Our waiter was attentive and efficient. The food was excellent, and the portions were generous. Moody’s is our favorite restaurant in Truckee.
Fantastic food, great service, and wonderful ambience. We will definitely go back.
The main dining area was extremely noisy so we were very happy to have been seated in the patio. Our food was good and our server was excellent.
A case of faded glory. The original by Mark Estee was world-class. Not so anymore.
First, the wait staff; too young and inexperienced. Plus, they had a misleading menu to deal with.
First off our champagne order. This was our wedding anniversary after all. Got to start with a glass of bubbly. Well, "sorry, I think we're out of that one. It's a split. I'll go see." Comes back with two glasses of champagne. They did have that kind. Where's the"split"? "We poured it into the glass" So a split of champagne turned into a glass of champagne. No big deal.
An appetizer went as advertised.
Entrees not so much. Bison ribeye turned into beef ribeye. That we rejected and got scallops instead. 4 scallops to be exact.
Ditalini with duck and porcini was heavy handed on the sauce and overall rather a mush.
Service staff doesn't understand that when they take away your flatware from the appetizer course you're going to need more silverware for the rest of your meal. Also, a pet peeves of mine I'll admit, the use of the Royal "we" was cute for two months in 1976 but not now. And how are we this evening? What are we thinking for entrees? Etc.
Prices were appropriate for world-class food and service. Neither were delivered.
I don't care to return.
Yummy food - great service. Always a good time.
Upon arrival we were initially seated across the noisy kitchen, our secon choice was sandwiched between the wall and a family. Not very private for conversations. We ordered gluten free pizza, along with a Caesar salad, the pizza was not crisp therefore undercooked and the salad wasn’t cold. We ordered a main course of scallops and they were cooked nicely though doused with teriyaki sauce. That made them too sweet. We left feeling like $100.00 for this dinner should have been better. I phoned the restaurant the next day to see if the chef was a sub and was told they at he was not and that there was a private party at the restaurant while we were there. Farrah the manager said if we returned she would make it right.... not sure we want to do this.
We had a great meal. People in our party said the pizza was especially good, and everyone enjoyed what they ordered.
Great food and a unique location in historic Truckee. It is our go to place whenever we are in town for a great meal
In a casual setting. The food and staff are both excellent!!
We had a great time at Moody's. The cocktails were amazing and the food was delicious. One of the best hangar steaks we've had.
Food was awful. Steak so toughit was impossible to cut. Peas raw. Broccolini not cooked. Crust on soup was raw dough. Terrible - not going back.
The food was decent, but people in our party of 6 thought it was overpriced.
We love Moody’s but the last few times we’ve been in, the music is SO loud you can’t hear yourself have a conversation. And this particular visit, we all had issues with our salads - not enough dressing and not tossed well at all. Moody’s salads are usually fantastic because they’re tossed well with lots of goodies and seasoning. We felt like we were paying a lot of money for piles of lettuce and spinach and not much else. Otherwise, wonderful to be there and our server was very attentive and nice.
Interesting cozy place with indoor/outdoor seating. The pizzas were great. We'll be back next year.
It was nice
