Monty's Sunset Ratings and Reviews
Went for dinner with friend. It was last evening in town and wanted to dine somewhere nice but also casual. This was perfect!! It's on marina so beautiful view day or night. If you enjoy seafood I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is so fresh and very tasty. If you like cider beer the Strongbow is great with their fish and chips. Hands down best seafood around!!
Cibo buono, servizio gentile e amichevole.
The only reason the rating is over a 1 is due to the view. It was nice being on the water though quite cold and no heat lamps outside. The hostess was very rude when she sat us, however the rest of the wait staff was fine. We got there at 8:30 on a Sat night so we weren't really thinking we would be pushed out when the clock hit about 9:50 but we were and it was very uncomfortable. Who would think that a restaurant that close to South Beach would have the carpets rolled up BY 10:00 on a Sat night? The food was below average with a less than exciting menu. Will not go back & wouldn't recommend for dinner, maybe lunch...only for the view.
Food ok. Nothing extraordinary. The dessert was better. Brownie with vanilla ice cream was warm and tasty. Service is better than food. Nice staff. The place was crowded and the waiter and food came fast. But don't expect high end ambiance or tasteful plates. Its better for young drinkers and college students who like very noisy music with a view. Everything was so chaotic that the waitress didnt have time to check if we actually had reservations.in the other hand that was better because they re not complicated and you get inmediately what you re looking for: A sit! Overall we had a good time because we chose a place indoor full of tv screens with a wide variety of channels. We re a family with an 11 y/o daughter. We ate and left fast. No complains.
We had a decent helpful informed waiter. The table was sticky and gross. We asked 3 times to have it cleaned and then just ended up getting a cloth from another table and doing it ourselves. Food truly forgettable and the scene could be drastically improved if they had a manager on site up front . Hostess was bored and checking her phone every 2 mins. My salad was horrible and the calamari was the only thing worthwhile...not going back there.
The raw bar was great, and during happy hour, great prices also. Service excellent. Music is pretty loud, but does make for a lively atmosphere. There is a big bar area which would make for a good hangout with drinks and friends. Head for the public parking, it is free and very easy, but not well marked!
We had a great time and are going back in a couple of days with more friends!
Made our reservation through Opentable well in advance. Arrived at the restaurant which was not very well marked and had trouble figuring where to park (no signs). Walked (and rode into the restaurants, my wife use a mobility device) and the snippy hostess wanted to send us to the back of the property to a "picnic table (benches with no back). Finally (reluctantly) put 2 table of 2 together for our party of 4. Tables were very sticky and napkins actually stuck to them. The waiter was very nice but very busy. Portions were small, served in a haphazard manor, and not in a timely manor. Would only recommend this place for alcoholics as a pickup joint.
Love this place, however, not so much this time. Reservation was at 9pm. Place was moderatly busy. Hostess had our reservation with a nice table outside, as I had specified in the reservation. We were seated however this would be the last time we would have human interaction. We waited for about 20 mins before asking the buss person to send over our server. This did not work. A six top was seated at this time, we knew this wouldnt be good for us. Sure enough the waitress came over to them. My date was furious and wished to leave the establishment. This calibur of restaurant with location and great food sells it self. It makes me sad to see bad customer service ruin it. Thank god lincoln road is so close, had a great dinner there.
