Monty's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
An old favorite with terrific menu and food and outstanding service, but prices keep going up and up. Thankfully, quality stays high so you end up getting what you pay for. But, will have to visit fewer times to make up for the new high prices. Be aware, very loud in the bar area. But, not a problem for many who do not mind the loudness.
I’m a huge fan of Red blends and unfortunately they only sell it by the bottle. Our server went above and beyond to ask if an exception could be done to provide a glass. The manager came to our table and brought two types they had, she had me try the one I would prefer. No questions asked, poured what I had chosen and made my evening along with my Filet Mignon!
Unpleasant because of the noise level. Even though I requested a quiet area, We were placed right next to the bar By mistake on my part I forgot to mention one of us was in a wheelchair. I arrived with another friend earlier so just request a quiet area.. The service was ok, food we enjoyed Would come back , hoping i we could get a quieter area.
We've been to Monty's in Woodland Hills a number of times for dinner. This was my first experience for lunch.
I found the service to be very good but felt the food was just fair and overpriced.
I ordered a French Dip sandwich and I requested fruit instead of coleslaw, potato salad or fries.
I was surprised to receive cantaloup and honeydew. This was unimaginative and surprising for the price. Most other lunch places would have served some mixed fruit including berries, grapes, melon, etc. I think even though this is a steak house, the menu could be more creative.
The sandwich was just fair.
Monty's was oka....my filet was very good, the sauteed spinach was very good, and my martini was perfect. The waiter was okay, but we love Amanda and disappointed she was not working our table. Bar was quiet tonight. BTW, my date had the T-Bone and he said it was "okay", a friend had the ribeye and said it wasn't so great. Not the best steak house in Woodland Hills...but sometimes the place is just a place to go....
I used to go to the Monty's in Pasadena before it closed. I won a gift certificate to the Woodland Hills Monty's in a golf tournament so we made the long trek there. Monty's is an old school steak and seafood restaurant. The restaurant was full, but we were seated right away. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, and very attentive. Portions are huge, including salads and extra items like potatoes and vegetables. Definitely too much for one person. Their garlic bread may be the best ever. I had a rib eye which was prepared as ordered. I've had better, but it was fine. My wife ordered the Monty's shrimp, large shrimp stuffed and wrapped in bacon. They were good, not exceptional. We had a nice bottle of Cabernet that was $48. My wife said the creamed corn was exceptional. Against our server's advice, I ordered the Potatoes Au Gratin. They were just averaged and I know Monty's is famous for their huge and tasty baked potatoes. Monty's is a good place to go for special occasions. It's expensive, in the range of Ruth's Chris or Morton's.
it is nice to go to an independently owned Steak House where the owner makes the rounds and wants you to be happy and comfortable. It is note like the chain steak places where they are impersonal and you never see the same wait staff twice. Madonna has been working tables at Monty's for 30 years. and you can tell she still loves her job.
We have eaten at every steakhouse in the West Valley worthy of the name...we've lived here more than 60 years...and Monty's has them all topped. Again and still!
Bobbi and Michael always make you feel as if you are the most important diners in the place and the food and service are never...never...a disappointment!
This has been the most reliable high quality steak and seafood restaurant for the last 20 or so years. We eat at a lot of steak houses like Ruth's Chris, Pacific Dining Car, Mastros and Mortons. All are good but Monty's has the best cuts of beef, solid sea food and outstanding sides, perfect literally every time. It's family owned and I feel like family when we go there. We love spending about an hour in the bar before being seated. The Best!
Once again Monty's shines. When a party walks in, they are always greeted with a look of absolute delight, making the patrons feel so welcome. We were seated immediately and were watched over like we were the only ones there. The food, as usual, was outstanding.
Kudos to the staff of Monty's!
First of all we had an awesome waitress . Her name was Sharron. We were celebrating
3 Friends Birthday and Sharron made this luncheon very special for all of us.
The food of course was excellent. The Chinese chicken salad and salmon entrees were delicious.
Once again the London Chips with the homade relish was a big hit.
It was nice Birthday lunch celebration
Thank you Sharron
Amazingly enough, this was my first time at Monty's. I never really thought about going there but a friend wanted to go, so we went. I was pleasantly surprised! The meal was excellent. We shared the 18 oz. Ribeye which was a perfectly cooked medium. It was tender and juicy and they split it for us in the kitchen. We also ordered the sauteed spinach which was excellent and shared a baked potato. Very good, classic service...very accommodating and always there to take care of anything we requested. I'd definitely go back.
We have been going to Monty's for
At least 45 years .
Our meals have always been excellent along with wonderful service. Our favorite appetizer still continues to be the London chips with the homemade relish sauce.
Our entree and side dishes are always cooked to perfection and delicious.
I love Monty's. But next time I go-- I won't let them seat me in the space to the left of the bar. It's noisy-- especially right next to where all the servers fill their drink orders-- and you're not only stuck in kind of a netherworld between all the real dining rooms, but they also jam you in way too close to other diners.
Monty's is one of the best. They have the BEST staff, the BEST steaks (and everything else we've tried), the BEST management (and owners), and, well simply, THE BEST. We dine out 300+ meals a year (500 in some meals), and Monty's is one of my favorite places IN THE WORLD. Among the cutter of "chains" and "groups" of restaurants and endless sameness, Monty's is REAL. REAL and OUTSTANDING!
Monty's has been my go to place since I was a kid. Dined at their Encino and Westwood venues until they vanished. I HATE these moronic "new age" restaurants. Give me a bone-in rib eye with a 12 year old MacAllan in a red leather booth anytime. The dinner salad, the baked potato and if it's your birthday, the best sundae ever. Not too loud, either. HIPSTERS STAY AWAY. Monty's is one of the last real good places.
Went on our aniversery with friends, they have not had good dining experiance there a few times told them that we have had a couple of good ones so we went. I was wrong!!!! Service started out good waiter served drinks in a timly fashion and explaind the specials, I ordered the rib eye bone in $48.00- med rare plus came out well done. My wife ordered a saled dressing on the side- sent it back soaked with dessing. back to my steak-waiter dissapeared asked the bus boy to please get him he shows up in the room goes to 1 table asks how there food was goes to the next table dicribes the specials and takes there order totally ignoring me. as the rest of my patry ate I sat trying to get his attention to no avail, the waitress at the table next to us asked me what was wrong told hher steak ordered medrare plus came out well done.by the time they gave me the replacementthe table finished there meal my replacement steak was almost moving on my plate.that rare. never did my waiter come over to find out what was wrong just gave us the bill with no appolagy!!!! Not Happy
Our family has been coming here for years and my son grew up ordering the same meal since he was little. He wanted to have his 21st birthday at Monty's. We no longer go other than this special occasion because the prices are so high and the food is just ok for the rest of us. It's nostalgic more than it is good considering the prices. For the quality of the food it is definitely over-priced. The service continues to be exceptional.
