Monty's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Our daughter just moved to Woodland Hills, down the street from Monty's Steakhouse. Monty's was the closest restaurant to her new house which was just what we needed. A close-by restaurant where we could take our exhausted daughter to dinner the night of her move. We thought we had died and gone straight to Heaven! We experienced the impossible at Monty's. What, you say? Ok, so what's impossible is that every single thing we put into our mouths from the moment we were seated at our lovely table to the moment we got up to leave was not just good, it was BEYOND EXTRAORDINARY. Even the best, most expensive restaurants we've dined in have at least one or two things that aren't that great even if the rest of the food and drinks were fabulous. But at Monty's we literally couldn't find one thing, NOT ONE THING, that was just "so-so," from the best-ever warm, beautiful bread brought to the table with a special tomato-y dip and room temp butter in a little dish (not frozen pats on a plate) to the ENORMOUS-BEYOND-BELIEF lobster tails (trust me you've never seen or tasted lobster tails like this,) to the smallest, tenderest, amazingest, yummiest lamb chops, to the side dishes that are INSANELY DIVINE, to the absolutely delicious desserts (order one with 6 spoons) topped off by (if you still have room) after dinner drinks. It's pricey but worth it. How many times have we been to pricey, fancy shmancy restaurants that were way over-the-top expensive for what we got? Too numerous to mention. But pricey is a lot easier to swallow when what you get is exactly what you paid for and then some. I guess you could say, I can't say enough about Monty's Steakhouse and NO, I wasn't paid or cajoled or had my life threatened to post this review. I'm posting it because I want to share with the world this incredible find in Woodland Hills. Wonderful things we find these days that are REAL should be shared because we are all drowning in too many not-so-wonderful FAKE things every single day.
We love Monty’s but this meal wasn’t up to par. I’m not going to complain about the service-just the end results. Wedge salad drenched in blue cheese dressing (did the recipe for the dressing change? Wasn’t delicious as it is usually), requests were not ignored they were forgotten such as: my medium rare steak was medium, the well done chateaubriand (Horrifying...i know) came in as beautifully medium rare
It was a bad night at Monty’s and pricey. I should have sent the salads back but i didn’t, should have sent my steak back but i didn’t and usually i would, the chateaubriand was sent back to be be burnt so there was one happy ending. I don’t know why i didn’t totally unlike me. I can’t say i won’t go back but if i do i hope things are running properly once more.
This was my first time eating at Monty’s Steakhouse and was excited after reading reviews about eating at a locally-run icon. I must say the experience was good, but certainly not outstanding by any means. First of all, one member in our party did not receive his salad with the others, and then it was embarrassingly brought out with the entree. Second, the filet mignon was cooked to the right temperature but was not of the highest quality and lacked some flavor. I have had better at pretty much all the other high-end restaurants at the same price point. The mashed potatoes were good but once again just bland. Some other members regretfully ordered the Thanksgiving Turkey dinner and all commented how everything tasted bland like you would get on a tray at a hospital cafeteria. Our server was nice and service quick overall, but I would certainly not recommend or return here with so many better steakhouses around at a similar price point.
Went with my boyfriend for Thanksgiving. I had the prime rib, he the New York. Both were cooked correct @ medium, but the quality of the meat was not as good as I thought it should be for a 60 dollar plate. The pumpkin pie was the best part and I think that was from Costco. Our waiter and bus boy were awesome! Will not ever be going back
An old favorite with terrific menu and food and outstanding service, but prices keep going up and up. Thankfully, quality stays high so you end up getting what you pay for. But, will have to visit fewer times to make up for the new high prices. Be aware, very loud in the bar area. But, not a problem for many who do not mind the loudness.
I’m a huge fan of Red blends and unfortunately they only sell it by the bottle. Our server went above and beyond to ask if an exception could be done to provide a glass. The manager came to our table and brought two types they had, she had me try the one I would prefer. No questions asked, poured what I had chosen and made my evening along with my Filet Mignon!
Unpleasant because of the noise level. Even though I requested a quiet area, We were placed right next to the bar By mistake on my part I forgot to mention one of us was in a wheelchair. I arrived with another friend earlier so just request a quiet area.. The service was ok, food we enjoyed Would come back , hoping i we could get a quieter area.
We've been to Monty's in Woodland Hills a number of times for dinner. This was my first experience for lunch.
I found the service to be very good but felt the food was just fair and overpriced.
I ordered a French Dip sandwich and I requested fruit instead of coleslaw, potato salad or fries.
I was surprised to receive cantaloup and honeydew. This was unimaginative and surprising for the price. Most other lunch places would have served some mixed fruit including berries, grapes, melon, etc. I think even though this is a steak house, the menu could be more creative.
The sandwich was just fair.
Monty's was oka....my filet was very good, the sauteed spinach was very good, and my martini was perfect. The waiter was okay, but we love Amanda and disappointed she was not working our table. Bar was quiet tonight. BTW, my date had the T-Bone and he said it was "okay", a friend had the ribeye and said it wasn't so great. Not the best steak house in Woodland Hills...but sometimes the place is just a place to go....
I used to go to the Monty's in Pasadena before it closed. I won a gift certificate to the Woodland Hills Monty's in a golf tournament so we made the long trek there. Monty's is an old school steak and seafood restaurant. The restaurant was full, but we were seated right away. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, and very attentive. Portions are huge, including salads and extra items like potatoes and vegetables. Definitely too much for one person. Their garlic bread may be the best ever. I had a rib eye which was prepared as ordered. I've had better, but it was fine. My wife ordered the Monty's shrimp, large shrimp stuffed and wrapped in bacon. They were good, not exceptional. We had a nice bottle of Cabernet that was $48. My wife said the creamed corn was exceptional. Against our server's advice, I ordered the Potatoes Au Gratin. They were just averaged and I know Monty's is famous for their huge and tasty baked potatoes. Monty's is a good place to go for special occasions. It's expensive, in the range of Ruth's Chris or Morton's.
it is nice to go to an independently owned Steak House where the owner makes the rounds and wants you to be happy and comfortable. It is note like the chain steak places where they are impersonal and you never see the same wait staff twice. Madonna has been working tables at Monty's for 30 years. and you can tell she still loves her job.
We have eaten at every steakhouse in the West Valley worthy of the name...we've lived here more than 60 years...and Monty's has them all topped. Again and still!
Bobbi and Michael always make you feel as if you are the most important diners in the place and the food and service are never...never...a disappointment!
This has been the most reliable high quality steak and seafood restaurant for the last 20 or so years. We eat at a lot of steak houses like Ruth's Chris, Pacific Dining Car, Mastros and Mortons. All are good but Monty's has the best cuts of beef, solid sea food and outstanding sides, perfect literally every time. It's family owned and I feel like family when we go there. We love spending about an hour in the bar before being seated. The Best!
Once again Monty's shines. When a party walks in, they are always greeted with a look of absolute delight, making the patrons feel so welcome. We were seated immediately and were watched over like we were the only ones there. The food, as usual, was outstanding.
Kudos to the staff of Monty's!
First of all we had an awesome waitress . Her name was Sharron. We were celebrating
3 Friends Birthday and Sharron made this luncheon very special for all of us.
The food of course was excellent. The Chinese chicken salad and salmon entrees were delicious.
Once again the London Chips with the homade relish was a big hit.
It was nice Birthday lunch celebration
Thank you Sharron
Amazingly enough, this was my first time at Monty's. I never really thought about going there but a friend wanted to go, so we went. I was pleasantly surprised! The meal was excellent. We shared the 18 oz. Ribeye which was a perfectly cooked medium. It was tender and juicy and they split it for us in the kitchen. We also ordered the sauteed spinach which was excellent and shared a baked potato. Very good, classic service...very accommodating and always there to take care of anything we requested. I'd definitely go back.
We have been going to Monty's for
At least 45 years .
Our meals have always been excellent along with wonderful service. Our favorite appetizer still continues to be the London chips with the homemade relish sauce.
Our entree and side dishes are always cooked to perfection and delicious.
I love Monty's. But next time I go-- I won't let them seat me in the space to the left of the bar. It's noisy-- especially right next to where all the servers fill their drink orders-- and you're not only stuck in kind of a netherworld between all the real dining rooms, but they also jam you in way too close to other diners.
Monty's is one of the best. They have the BEST staff, the BEST steaks (and everything else we've tried), the BEST management (and owners), and, well simply, THE BEST. We dine out 300+ meals a year (500 in some meals), and Monty's is one of my favorite places IN THE WORLD. Among the cutter of "chains" and "groups" of restaurants and endless sameness, Monty's is REAL. REAL and OUTSTANDING!
