Opted for smaller plates to share. Scallops were great and if you go, you have to try the 48 hour bacon!
Fantastic restaurant!! Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!!
We were able to get a reservation at the last minute. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Great choice of small, medium and large dishes. Inventive and delicious.
Tom was our waiter and he was very attentive, informed and professional. I still noted that the radish vinegar side is far too acidic, the crab cakes were good and the Caesar Salad very good.
The salmon and risotto, mussels, and short rib waffles were all great. Sunday is half off full bottles of wine (some exclusions) so wine was very reasonable. Service was great!
Delicious, from start to end. We went with small and medium plates, which were just right for the 2 of us. We didn't have room for large plates. The seared scallops were a stand out - not only because they were perfectly seared but also because they were accompanied by a lovely quinoa, cauliflower, cucumber veggie mixture. My hat off to the kitchen that could bring together those ingredients and turned them into a coherent, yummy, palate pleasing dish. Very good cocktails and wines.
In fact, we had dinner at Montrio, went to a show nearby, and returned for a night cap and desserts - the profiterole was heavenly (filled with ice cream, topped interestingly with bacon).
Ask your waitress/waiter about how to ring the kitchen bell - we enjoyed that, too. It's nice there's a way to convey to the kitchen staff how much we appreciated their attentive cooking. The staff were friendly, fun.
We came from out of town and plan to visit Montrio again next time.
We brought our family from out of town to Montreo for a special night out. Everything we raved about to them from our past experiences here were validated. Montero keeps getting better with each new dining experience.
They has a birthday table set up for me
Great meal and even better service. We’ll be returning every time we’re in the area for a race.
I loved my experience. They were very polite and very friendly. The food was amazing.
We were celebrating our Anniversary. Jose made it a great experience.
Enjoyed a dinner with friends. The waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. The salmon was wonderful!
creative menu, friendly and very efficient service, excellent cocktails
the best dish by far: 48 hours bacon, we came next day for more, to make sure we didn't imagine it ;o)
Duck breast was outstanding; Short Ribs waffle with an egg was very good and unusual.
overall great experience; highly recommend!
We went there last weekend for our anniversary dinner. The staff wished us a happy anniversary, gave us a great table, and there was a special dessert at the end. Overall the service and food were wonderful. And the ambiance is great. We'll definitely go back.
The food was outstanding. The rib dinner was cooked to perfection-no fat and presentation was wonderful. Desserts were delicious. It was a little noisy but not so bad that we couldn't hear ourselves talk. Service was very good. We live out of town and have visited Montrio Bistro every time we come to Monterey and have always had a delicious meal. Recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a great night out and good food.
Outstanding wait staff!!! Made the night!!!!!!
Great spot, we had the steak and split it with 4. The cook was not med rare but it was good enough. The veggies that came with seemed strange, while tomatoes peeled? Not a lot go flavor there but the green beans and potatoes were great. Wine selection by the glass is great! Loved dessert. Great service - definitely recommend!
This place is awesome. Great downtown spot for a special occasion or night out with friends.
Food wonderful: (Lamb on Lamb and chicken)
Had a great time
This was our third visit to Montrio Bistro and it remains one of out favorites. The duck confit was cooked just right. Our server Jose was exceptional and we loved his wit and humor. It is a must visit in Monterey.
Had the scallops and my wife had Brussel sprouts. Sooooo good! Service excellent. It’s busy but we are easily able to hear each other
I've ate here several times and always had courteous service with excellent food and mind blowing appetizers and sides the brussel sprouts are amazing sad to see the bacon chop not on the menu my new favorite in Monterey
A fun dining experience. Lots of creativity in the menu. Especially liked the option of middle sized plates. The lamb two ways on butter beans was outstanding. Nice vibe. Weeknight so it was not too crazy. Plan to go back.
I always include a dinner at Montrio whenever I am in Monterey. The food is consistently good, the wine list is extensive, and the location is great. The menu has a few new additions since the last time I was there. Sundays are half-off most bottles of wine. Definitely recommended.
The food was good, we thought it was a little overpriced. Our waitress was a bit harried, but I really appreciated the half of bottles of wine deal they have every Sunday. I wouldn’t have gone there without a special travelzoo voucher we had though, too expensive otherwise and not worth the cost.
2nd time here. First experience was outstanding. This Sunday we returned with friends and the dining was very good however the waitress was horrible and rude and really tainted the impression of a good time.
Different kitchen staff from February 15th experience and food reflected a slight downward trend. Overall, still would return however would not accept the same wait person under any circumstances . We are not demanding people and expect to be treated with courtesy and with a welcoming attitude. We even felt she skimmed the kitchen tip we sent extra.
The staff was courteous and attentive. We were seated promptly. Food was excellent. They over cooked my steak but immediately replaced it with one done properly and apologized. Overall great experience. We would do it again.
First time there with my girlfriend and I celebrating our anniversary and it was a great first time experience.
We really enjoyed our Rocky chicken n the braised short ribs so delicious oh our kale salad was TASTY.i like Resiling wine sweet smooth n crisp our 1st time at montrio bistro we will be back
This is a very good restaurant! I have eaten here three times now and every time I have been surprised by the great but casual atmosphere, beautiful interior, great staff and above all, excellent food, wine and drinks. Cooking is distinct, really nice! I'll be back!
Great experience as usual
Service was great, food was awesome...what more could you want?
Delicious, not far out, good cocktail offering, nice setting. Perfect in our view and we'll certainly be back. Our reservation was for 6:00 and not too noisy. Comfortable.
Everything was great! Highly recommend
Was in Monterey for the holiday weekend and looking for a nice dinner.
48 hour bacon - Must try.
Chocolate crunch with coconut ice cream.
8 pm reservations, but still waited 20 minutes to be seated.
Wine recommendation was a miss. Local winery Santa Cruz/Monterey. Maybe we're spoiled being from SF and Napa.
Reviews raved about the braised short rib. Thought it was just okay. The brickyard chicken was better.
Montrio is one of our favorite restaurants. We go there every time we are in Monterey. Food is great.
The food here was SO GOOD - there were not a lot choices on the menu for vegetarians or pescatarians but I had the salmon & my husband scallops and they were both fantastic! The Brie appetizer was also amazing- it was our anniversary & I would definitely want to go again! I wasn't crazy about the decor- there were some changes I'd make but the food is totally worth the weird iron sculptures & the unattractive lampshades. Half price bottles of wine on Sunday is also a nice perk. Service wasn't great but wasn't bad either, it was busy!
Wonderful Monterey restaurant that never disappoints. Creative, delicious dishes served by highly professional staff.
This was our 2nd visit to Montrio. The last time was several years back when we visited the Monterey area again. Strangely, Hubby remembers we sat at the very same table. We really liked our server, she was nice and attentive. The food was good but the dessert stole the show, their famous bread pudding. Chunks of toasty bread in a delicious sauce. I was not going to order dessert and just have a bite but afterwards, had wished I ordered my own instead of sharing.
He had the lamb on lamb and liked it very much. It included lamb stomach which was tender and crispy which he really enjoyed. The place gets very loud and crowded and you should make reservations.
Fantastic service, despite being late for our reservation; they sat us and hurriedly cooked and served our meal in the small timeframe that was our fault. The ambiance was cheque and cultured, with wonderful artwork and great music everywhere. I particularly liked the metal bird statue they hand on the stairway up to the second level dining area. All in all, a great local spot in Monterey!
