Charming dining experience. The staff is wonderful. Throughout the entire evening from greeting to exit they made a great effort to impress. The cocktails were creative and delectable. The food was delicious. The fresh bread was irresistible & worth every crunchy soft lovely bite! We enjoyed every course & finished off perfectly with the deconstructed cheesecake and blood orange sorbet. Not to be missed!!! We will happily come again & again!

I was a bit disappointed given how much I enjoyed my last meal there a couple of months ago. The 48 hr Bacon Butter was amazing and was the best thing we had that night. We also had the Mediterranean Mussels which I loved the last time. This time, the mussels were tiny (the meat were like 1/4 the size of the ones I had). While the sauce was just as good, it was underwhelming. We also had 2 entrees. We had the Sirloin which was cooked well, but not particularly noteworthy. The portion was also pretty small for the price. The capellini was the real disaster. We ordered this same pasta last time and it was delicious. This time, it was watery, bland and overcooked. We each took a bite or two and had to return it to the kitchen, which I rarely ever do. It was that bad. So overall, I was really disappointed with my dining experience. It was a special meal with my out of town daughter and all the other meals we had during this weekend trip was superior to this, and this was the most expensive meal we had. Sigh!

Our server was well informed & very attentive, gave us excellent advice & was flexible. We are from TN & he is originally from South Carolina so he appreciated our southern palate! The braised short ribs were outstanding & cocktails just perfect Our best dining experience in Monterrey.

Went there for as one last meal in Monterey for us based upon other's reviews and was not disappointed! Started off with the baked brie and crab cakes and then moved on to the brick chicken and the lamb on lamb followed by the bread pudding. Everything from start to finish was outstanding, including the specialty drinks which were paired with the meals. Total was 120 for 4 specialty cocktails and a 5 star 3 course meal for 2 - which in Monterey, is a very decent price!

Our server was great! It was so loud, it hurt our ears and made for a very uncomfortable evening. It was hard to enjoy the food, when all we wanted to do was leave!

I will forever dream about the asparagus ravioli. I'm vegetarian, my friend is gluten free/dairy free and we both had full tummies from beautifully textured, flavorful meals.

Dinner was great! When I saw the white tablecloths I thought this place might be passé but it turned out to be a very fresh current lovely place. Meal was good. I had the smoked salmon "bite" which was light and refreshing, the citrus food really lightens up the fish and it was a great starter.

Then the asparagus ravioli, which was fantastic. There was an ample amount of greens served in the midst of the ravioli that also keep this dish feeling lighter than you might expect from ravioli.

I recommend!

Our visit started with our early arrival during Happy Hour. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Anthony, Best of Monterey, was a personable creator of delicious cocktails. We were seated by a window and our dinners were delicious.

Excellent service; thoroughly professional. Terrific ambience. Quite lively, but not too loud. Outstanding food. I've been often, and always pleased. If any downside, the wine menu is very aggressively priced. Not enough choices in the $40 range - nearly none below $40.

We were only in Monterey for one night and this restaurant was opposite our hotel. Discovered it was No 1 on trip advisor and didn’t disappoint although they were sold out of the chicken so I had pasta, hubby had steak and both were delicious. Shared white chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Would definitely recommend.

Wait staff works as a team.........as a result, I had to fight off four different servers who wanted to take my salad plate while my partner was not finished and still eating. Why must they try to rush the eating experience! It is like they must turn the table every 40 minutes.

On vacation in Monterey. Spouse and I were able to have gluten free and dairy free appetizer and entrees while child appreciated traditional burger. Just note that the fries with burger were spiced up. I’m sure the would accommodate with regular fries. Good wine choices and halibut special was delicious. Very attentive serving staff. Nice atmosphere and short drive from Cannnery Row.

Appetizers and dinner were great. I liked the fact that some wines were 50% off. The assistant wait staff who filled our waters and brought out our food were super attentive and friendly. Our server, however, seemed uninterested in us and was not forthcoming with information. For example, she told us the halibut was herb-crusted, but when it came out (and after I had already bitten into it), we were told it had pistachios. Thankfully, I don't have a nut allergy, but can you imagine if I did? Isn't that something a server would want to let her guest know about?

Excellent service and French bistro-style food in an environment that is (somehow) simultaneously romantic and family friendly. Excellent wine and spirits selection. We enjoyed our dinner and experience so much that we cancelled reservations the following night and returned here. Highly recommended for any occasion if you're in Monterey.

Had a really bad experience. I took my husband out for his birthday. The table was decorated, which was a nice gesture. Ordered our drinks and appetizers. My husband and I talked for a while, placed our orders as soon as we received our appetizers. Couple next to us left and a new one sat down. I noticed they were served drinks, appetizers, and soon after they received their meals. At that point I was triggered to look at my watch and realized an hour has passed by. I felt forgotten. I asked the waiter and he said "it's coming". I waited 5 minutes and decided to get up and leave. I noticed a party of 6 that sat way after us were getting served. What's upsetting is that we were a party of 2.

I do NOT recommend this place. NEVER EVER will I go eat at this restaurant.

Great service!! Table at far back wall from entrance. Sorry don’t remember waitress name. Food is still very heavy for my taste, but my duck was great - very tender - and best part was the jalapeño cornbread. Yummy!!! Only problem was that everything on both our plates (hubby had the brick chicken) was swimming in rich sauce. If there was some way to contain it the dish would seem lighter. Our favorite restaurant in the Tollner group of restaurants!

Love Half-Price Wine Sundays, but we didn't enjoy our dinner as much as we have in the past. The upcharge for adding shrimp to the pasta dish seemed excessive. I think the server should have given us a heads up, as it turned a relatively inexpensive dish into one of the more expensive entrees on the menu. We also noticed that the entrees are a bit heavier than we like and the prices seem higher than they need to be. Not sure we'll be returning here.
