Under Covid conditions 12/12 right before shutdown, the service could not have been better, the food perfectly prepared and brought out hot (one side dish came out 30 seconds later and they apologized), waiter knew how to open the old wine I brought, sidewalk seating was romantic on a dank cool with with a heater right next to us. The duck was slightly undercooked which is much much better than overcooked, the venison perfectly cooked in fact the best venison dish I've ever had, The Meyer Lemon tart was unusual, usually they are too sweet for me, we both noticed this was not all that sweet, which is great because I'm weaning myself away from a blast of sugar at the end of a meal. Water was filled regularly which is becoming important to me when I bring wine, not only to hydrate but it also makes the wine stretch to the end of the meal, I hate washing down food with wine just because my water is empty. I was surprised by the attention to details which is who I mention them, I'm not that picky, but now I will be LOL. First-class joint as they say, especially for being on the sidewalk when the inside of the restaurant is so romantic.

Returned for our 35th wedding anniversary dinner, despite outdoor dining restrictions, strong heaters made it work. Every dish was delish! Caesar dressing, anchovy appetizer, 48hr bacon, (OMG!) Short rib ravioli, and the best cocktails ever!!! Lovely service too. Will be dreaming about this dinner till next time!

family of 3 - awesome food and service! ordered anchovies, bacon, prime beef short rib, the steak and bread pudding -- everything was so good. for drinks, the gringo and mariachi were the bomb.

Wonderful outdoor dining experience during the pandemic. The set up was warm and comfortable. Great beer selection. Service on point. Can’t go wrong with any items but highly recommend the duck and the short ribs for mains and the octopus as a starter.

Delicious cocktails (saving private Ryan, grunge & ganja especially), venison, and salmon. Outdoor tables have heating lamps. Our waiter, Scott, was terrific.
Low star ratings for noise. On our visit (11/18/2020) there was a group of 5-6 out of towners seated at the table near us, which included a “WOOOO!” girl and other loud, obnoxious jerks. I understand restaurants are reluctant to police behavior now for fear of losing $$. Yet another reason to look forward to post-covid times!

Montrio Bistro was a great place to celebrate my husband's birthday. The octopus carpaccio was delicious and should not be missed. My duck and his ravioli in a short rib sauce was also excellent. The finale of bread pudding is something we would make a special trip to have again. It was the first thing our Uber driver told us about when she saw where we were going. They have an interesting wine list that showcases local wine, particularly pinot noirs, and then other CA wines up and down the coast. Their craft cocktails are also interesting. My husband, a former bartender, said that his mezcal negroni was one of the best he's had.
Tops- the service we received at Montrio was speedy considerate and friendly. Our servers were Cesar and Ruben, they were the best. The food was amazing- creative, satisfying and delicious, the drinks the same, I had a Flor de la Casona and the combo of flavors was like nothing I had ever tried. Thank you to the staff at Montrio, my 50th birthday celebration was memorable and special!
Great overall experience! We were there for dinner and rhe food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to dine.
The mushroom medley was divine, meaty, smooth and flavorful; the duck breast was tender, juicy, perfect red meat-like texture with parsnip.
The temporary dry & warm heaven under the stairway, tucked in an alley was an envy spot for other dinners in the cool, windy and raining evening. 👌
this was a great experience dining. reservations were simple. we sat outside and enjoyed ourselves. the heat lamps kept us warm. when it started raining the waiter helped us move the table underneath an awning. i'll be coming back!

A getaway and change of scenery for me and my 87 year old mother. This was our last dinner and restaurant was recommended by a wine tasting location. By far a wonderful experience.
Everytime, the food sours - the service plus quality hasn't waned in Covid Times -- when we visit Monterey, it's more important that the tourist staples. Thanks!!
I would recommend the wine list be expanded to also include a local more Oakes Chardonnay
We were visiting Monterey for the first time from Houston. Unfortunately it was so cold the night we dined. Also the table near ours was extremely loud. The food was good but not what I expected for the price point. I wish we could have sat inside because the interior had wonderful decor.
