Wonderful time at this restaurant! One of the best in the Monterey area! We love to dine here in the evenings, the atmosphere is so relaxed, drinks are fabulous and the food is incredible!
My first time at Montrio came highly recommend by a friend and it did not disappoint!
Server was very friendly, food was tasty but wasnt a huge fan of the tomato sauce on the salmon dish. ice cream in florentine bowl was awesome ! their steak needed more seasoning/salt. we were late for our reservation but they were very kind to seat us anyway! a little pricey but nice for a birthday or special occasion.
Went to Montrio Bistro for my sister’s birthday. Excellent service and food! It’s a classy joint and even though we had 2 toddlers, they were still very accommodating. We got the 48 hr bacon, mussels, and scallops for appetizers and they were all delicious. The mussels were some of the best I’ve had. Burgers were delicious, fries crisp but oily, sirloin delish, and halibut good. Our second time there, and we will be back!
My 3rd time at Montrio Bistro and still great as ever
An absolutely amazing place to eat! Incredibly delicious food, so good!!!
Great place, consistent quality. Great atmosphere.
Great food and great presentation. Portion size was perfect. Server extremely good.she provided great suggestions of what to have.
Primo !!! Great place for a date night .. We sat upstairs, quieter and intimate. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection... The wine list was excellent.. Our meals were delicious as were the sides !!! I had the salmon and My date had the raviolis, both highly recommended
Delicious food and great service
Montrio is always good but seemed to be a bit off during our visit Saturday night. Large groups of people from the US Open seemed to catch them off guard.
Great! I asked for half salad full. That was ok I needed the greens!
Excellent wine list with industry standard pricing. Incredible west coast oysters. My steak and bearnaise was a match made in heaven. Wifey's trout was cooked to perfection. We will always dine here when visiting the wine country.
Great find. The service was outstanding. Ambiance great. Food was innovative and very tasty.
Wonderful dinner with excellent service. Artichoke appetizer was delicious and duck breast was prepared perfectly. We will definitely return when in the Monterey area.
We can always count on a great meal at Montrio. It is consistently good.
Wait staff outstanding. Smoked Salmon bite was exceptional. I went there for the short ribs and was not disappointed. Wine list has something for everyone.
Best in Monterey for 20 years! Always amazing food and service!
Always a great meal and outing.
The 48 hr bacon is a must have! I’ll be back. We really enjoyed the service and our meal
Lovely place would recommend
We LOVED Montrio Bistro. Everything was excellent. 10/10 would come back.
Donice W was outstanding & intuitive to our needs & picked up on a birthday.
The problem was unmentioned spicy-hot in the risotto and sauce with the salmon. No indication on the menu that it would be hot. I had to send it back to the kitchen because my mouth and lips were burning. When it was brought back it was delicious, the salmon perfectly cooked. Also, it’s very hard for vegetarians; I’m one that eats fish.
The best restaurant experience my wife and I have had since Hawksworth in Vancouver. Delicious cocktails, starters, and the Monterey Black Cod was perfect. Will definitely be visiting again!
Our favorite restaurant to go in Monterey before a concert at Golden State theatre
Very nice modern California fine dining experience. Good use of local ingredients e.g. artichokes and cod. Service was impeccable. They understood their own wine list and were able to produce a local pinot matching the description I gave them.
It is in the pricier end and the following constructive criticisms are offered against the high bar they are setting for themselves, again everything was very good, I've been before and will absolutely go back:
The artichoke was cooked correctly but was not selected to have much flesh - and they are in artichoke country - the application of balsamic vinegar was also a bit liberal. I think the duck breast may have been prepared sous vide. I'm not a fan of this I think you want the chew of a broiled breast and its easier to get a crisp skin if you don't start from the point where its been in the sous vide bath - again I could be wrong. The cod was lovely but served with plain grapes and lentils - they just didn't go with the cod. Cod and grapes, sorry, no, and the lentils, while good themselves, were too heavy for the cod.
One highlight was the use of lemongrass in the mussel broth along with some coconut milk. This was a great example of a somewhat surprising combination that worked. They advertise a red curry broth but its yellow curry as far as I could see, still delicious.
Montrio Bistro is constantly a fantastic place to go while in Monterey. I have used them for personal celebrations, business entertainment and even when I am traveling and just need a good meal. If you haven't been before and like meat the short ribs are absolutely amazing, as is the calamari, which has a unique preparation.
An excellent dinner in Monterey! We arrived a half hour early for our reservation and were able to get seated right away. The complimentary bread was delicious. We ordered the risotto fritters and seared scallops to start. The seared scallops with quinoa salad were delicious! We then ordered the mushroom ravioli with short ribs - this was also delicious. For dessert, we got a profiterole and a carrot cake. Best meal I've had in a while, and at a surprisingly good price!
Anybody who had a bad experience here, must’ve just had a really bad day. Service was almost perfect (sorry, but Emeril ruined us). Food was unexpected, and delightful. Signature drinks were completely delightful. House smoked ice cubes?!?? Rediculous!
Very delicious food, great service, austere wine list. Definitely want to come back. The mushroom ravioli with short rib is worth a long trip for.
Great service and delicious food.
I had not been to Montrio Bistro for a few years because of the bad service and bad food we had for two prior visits. I am so glad we gave it a try! Haven, our server, was terrific. The food was fabulous. Only downside is the choice of wine by the glass. IMHO, very poor. However, on the other hand, we were encouraged to order cocktails which we enjoyed tremendously! Yup, back on the list of go-to.
The food here is really good & we love to share plates! Brad, great server! Many thanks for a special night. :)
Very nice birthday dinner with great service and good food
Fabulous service and food. Highly recommend
It was a great dining experience. The food and specialty cocktails were unique and very good. The staff was great.
Great food and service! Highly recommend this place!
My wife and I took a long weekend and had our first meal at Montrio Bistro. When we entered, we were impressed with the "neighborhood" feel and were seated right away. Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was well executed especially the crab cakes. Very little filler and the pickled radishes and sauce were a great compliment. For our entrees, we had the Salmon with risotto and the Black Cod with lentils and both dishes were delicious. It is a place that we will definitely go back to and highly recommend!
