The food was good and service excellent but for the price per person I felt it should have been more than an upscale fish house.
Branzino was tasty but not a value at $36. Cod looked much better. Noise level somewhat high. Ok overall. About the same as sister restaurant Neighborhood Services. Just ok. I GIVE THIS 3 STARS. DONT KNOW WHY THERE ARE MORE THAN THAT SHOWING
It was really hot inside. They need to add more air conditioning. Our waiter was dripping sweat on us.
Love the decor and the ambiance. It is noisy but not overwhelmingly loud -- still easy to hear the other guests at your table. The oysters and the fish specials were absolutely amazing! And the rum cake dessert is mind blowingly decadent! We didn't love the mussels but three out of four wins on the dishes is a win for us. Thanks!
Our experience was wonderful! Great bar and table service. Excellent dishes with great seafood quality. Love this cozy gem and will gladly return!
Not as good as in the past. Very loud so much that it was hard to hear the waiter. Salmon special was to be medium per the chef's recommendation but it was dry. I'm from Pacific Northwest so had a different expectation of what medium should be. Wine list isn't as good as it was last year. Still a decent meal but not the greatest that it has been in the past.
Great food and service in delightfully decorated restaurant. But that decor does not absorb sound and the restaurant was a bit noisy. But the food makes it all well worth it.
Pricey, but excellent food and service.
Recommend the mussels, rum cake and noodle dish of the day (was King crab linguine).
Our second visit to Montlake Cut and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. My wife selected a pasta special with king crab and thought it was excellent. I chose the scallops and they were also very good. We finished with a rum cake and a key lime parfait, both delicious. We will definitely return soon to try more of the items on their very nice selection.
This is my new favorite place in Dallas. In fact I don’t even feel like I’m in Dallas when I’m there. I think I’m in A quaint, cool delicious restaurant with a Pacific Northwest vibe! Eat at the bar. Great bartenders and by all means, don’t miss the key lime pie!!!
Dinners were delicious. Excellent evening with friends. No pressure to leave.😀
Sorry friends. Was expectant about this place, but 3 of 4 in our party found their meal lacking. Wedge salad, BBQ snapper & Roast cod all needed salt (which wasn't on the table). Scallops were tasty but not much else on plate. Roasted brussels were oily and somewhat tasteless. Snapper had both a mayo based sauce (remoulade) & was served with cole slaw slathered in mayo dressing - overkill. Too loud in dining room to have much of a conversation at the table. My go to question when visiting a new place is this - would we go here again? Probably not folks. Probably not.
The background music was way too loud. I asked for it to be turned down just a hair...not sure if that happened, but maybe. You do not need LOUD music...My Hailbut was overcooked and very dry, no taste. The oysters were good.
Food and service were excellent. Sara was very knowledgeable.
I have been dining at MC since it opened and it has always been good. Really good. This was a bad day. 2 of the 4 of us ordered the crab in avocado and had to send it back because it was bad. We then ordered the flounder Milanese and it was dry. Really bad food from a good place but I will try again.
Excellent service, excellent ambiance, and excellent dishes. Try the Ora King Salmon.
Table was ready right on time. Excellent advice on the oysters and main course. Food was perfectly prepared and plated. Great ambiance and just enough action to provide energy but no so much as to overwhelm.
Love this place! One of my go to spots for any occasion and always perfect!!
Great atmosphere for a fun and semi-casual date night out.
This was a very disappointing evening. When I looked up the restaurant on open table the reviews said it was a fine dining, foodie, white table cloths, type of restaurant. When I made my reservation I indicated that it was our anniversary.
When we got there we were seated in a back booth that had a 2 top, 4 top, 2 top configuration. So they sat us back there right next to two other tables so there was no privacy or table cloths....not sure why those tables didn’t have them while all other tables in the restaurant did. I felt like I was at Big Shucks, not a fine dining restaurant.
We ordered some simple shrimp with remoulade sauce as an appetizer. The shrimp was tough like rubber. For our mains we ordered the panko crusted halibut that was really dry and over cooked. For 1 appetizer, two mains, a cheap screw top bottle of Chardonnay (for which we were charged $50) we had a bill north of $180.
The only acknowledgement of our special evening was the waiter wrote Happy Anniversary on our check. Really!?!
We will not return nor recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The service was very poor. The waiter was focused on selling us the highest priced wine or items on the menu and then getting us out of there as soon as possible.
I ate the pasta of the day dish (Spaghetti and Crab) - the flavor was good but it was like mush. The spaghetti was broken - it seemed like it was left over from the day before. I ended up getting sick that evening with many trips to the restroom and a low grade fever - not fun.
I'm a big fan of Nick Badovinus - Town Hearth, NHS, Off Site - but this place doesn't come close to those.
Sorry to write such a bad review but not a good experience at all.
This was our second visit to Montlake Cut, and it did not disappoint! Some of the freshest seafood in Dallas, we just got back from the Caribbean and the seafood there was not nearly as good. Highly recommend!
After a wonderful dinner the first visit and eating at another excellent seafood restaurant a week ago, we set out to complete the comaprison, and of course enjoy a meal!! We started with the spicy ahi tartare and it was excellent; just the right amount of sharpness with each bit tender. My wife had the scallops in a tomatoe sauce, which was superb! Ahe ordered roasted asparagus as a side-wonderful from end to end. It was the same order as before!!! As note, I love sea bass and branzino, and since I tried it before, the question could it be done twice? Yep! Moreover, how did it compare with the other favorite. It was a whole branzino with the head in a wonderful tomatoe sauce similar to the scallops. Maybe a bit salty, but overall superb! No desert after this meal. Service was superb. Noise minimal at 6-7pm. Highly recommended again.
Fabulous as always. Arctic char was delicious. Fantastic service.
Wonderful restaurant. Best seafood in Dallas. The real deal with good fish, shellfish, etc, nice wine / beer, and not overdone with extra sauces that cover up the core of the meal. A class act.
This has been my go to for quite a while. This time it was very disappointing. Server totally forgot my cocktail. (4 of us at the table) when serving dinner, we waited extra long for 4 persons plate to come out of kitchen - awkward. Then the fish was over cooked and dry. Way to expensive to have this kind of experience. Mother’s Day dinner bust. :-/
Montlake is always a favorite for us. I had the tuna poke bowl and it was lovely, the scallops my husband had were cooked perfectly and he loved them. We enjoy the place, the people and the food so how does it get any better than that? it remains one of my favorite places to eat.

The food did not justify the price. The flounder was good but not great. The crab was ok. Oysters were very good but not for 3.25 each. Certainly don’t mind the price if the food is excellent.
Absolutely the best oysters and fish in town! Sara (our server) was knowledgeable and attentive to everyone at our table! We Highly recommend King Crab Fried Rice! Great place to meet up with friends or Date night location!
Excellent food and service. Loved it. Noise is a factor if you are there around 7:30
The hamburger is one of the best in Dallas!
I love this restaurant. Even though it was an expensive lunch, it was worth it!
One of my favorite restaurants in all of Dallas. Exceptional service, great food and fun cocktails!
Montlake Cut is a hidden gem. You walk in and are amazed at the atmosphere. The service and food are outstanding. I felt like I was at a restaurant on a waterfront, even though I was in a strip mall.
Loved how the staff all helped each other! Also I left something behind and they put it aside for me. Very kind
We love this restaurant. It is small space so it can be crowded early in the evening. The food is consistently very good -and the service is excellent. You can sit at a table for special occasions, or sit at the bar and eat, which we refer to do. The manager knows us, and always make an effort to say hello and make us feel welcome. One of our favorites!
Imaginative menu, beautiful presentation , excellent quality ingredients. Service was exceptional.
The food is always excellent. One of our favs.
