Went to Monticello's last Saturday night with friends and had a great meal. The food there is very consistent, Delicious. The noise level is very high, and the service could have been a touch better, but all in all it was great. Would never turn down an invitation to go there.

Monticello is a gem among the vibrant, strong restaurant scene in Red Bank. A great menu prepared very well and served by a very attentive staff. I highly recommend you try.

I went to the restaurant with my parents for the prixe fixe dinners. I will say the food is delicious. My issue with them was that we did not know we had to pay for the dinners with cash. Monticello's website did not state cash only and if the prixe fixe menu said it we didn't see it. I think it would be a good idea for the wait staff to let you know that prixe fixe is cash before you order. Also the waiter told my parents that I knew that it was cash only. I did NOT. Also I brought wine for Sangria to be made. Again the waiter told me that "they haven't done that for a long time" and that it said it on the website. Again the website did not state that. Lastly, service is slow due to there only being one waiter and one busboy. Monticello needs to have more waiters so that people don't wait for a lengthy time for food and the bill.

From the first time a few years ago to our most recent visit, the food has remain excellent. It gets loud at times during peak service, but it's the energy that make the place unique.

There was a large group of men at one table who were very loud and annoying but not really the fault of the restaurant. It was also very warm in there but the waiter had put the air on as soon as we mentioned being too hot. We will definitely be back, the good was very good.

Food was very good. A bit disappointed that the kitchen ran out of the filet mignon special. Also did not have the ossobucco from the menu.

The Italian bread is very authentic. Very few places would match it.
Price Fixe menu is a great value.
Salads are fresh and very tasty.
Entrees on the price fixe are limited, but half dozen choices are excellent - well prepared, good flavors and served nicely. Gealato and fruit ending is excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant

Started with a 20 minute wait to get seated with a reservation. Followed by terrible service. The waiter clearly forgot to put in our entrees and kept telling us the kitchen was backed up. It took forever to get the appetizer. In between ordering at the appetizer the waiter never checked in to ask about more bread, drink refills or even more water. The entrees weren’t served at the same time. When the last meal came out it was pork chops which weren’t cooked through and had to be sent back. When the table was cleared the waiter never name over to ask about dessert or the check. Instead he walked by our table three times avoiding eye contact only to go stand in the back where we had to go ask him to get the check so we could leave.

Pasta was watery and flavorless. My husbands meal was also watery and flavorless. We waited over and hour for our main course and it took our waiter a half hour to notice we did not like our meals. Not worth the price. Extremely disappointed! .We went to Gaetanos after. Overpriced and terrible service

Worst experience of my life
We were seated at 6:45. Service was a bit slow, got appetizers which were good, they removed plates at 8 pm. At 8:30 we were told kitchen backed up but the 2 tables next to us who were seated after us got their main courses
Someone apologized & said our dinners would be out next. That was a lie, At 9:28 no waiter around we walked out WITHOUT EVER GETTING OUR DINNER, 2 hours & 45 minutes after being seated.. there was no one at fron desk to complain to

I was there Saturday night . We had a 7pm reservation. There were four of us. It was packed. We received our drinks quickly and then our waiter took our order right away. We received our salads at 7:45. Prior to that nothing was brought to the table. We didn't care we were talking.

Out dinners came out at around 8:45. We suspected the kitchen was short of help that night because the people next to us told us they eat their all the time and it was unusual to have it take long for the food to come out.
I will gladly return because my food was wonderful, but the owner needs to have more help in the kitchen and someone on the floor to oversee everything. I was a waitress for 10 years many years ago.
I wish this restaurant much success!!

The cash only pre fix (offered most days but not on Friday and Saturday evenings) is an excellent value although all prices are fairly reasonable. The Caesar Salad is excellent. The entrees are very good and the food quantity is on the large side. The waiter for our table could use a little more experience. We definitely missed Tina the waitress. She was such an asset to the restaurant.

Went here for Valentine’s Day and it was great!!! Loved the food, I got the fish over the day over risotto and it was sooooo yummy. The restaurant is so nice and honesty for the price you pay for the food is not too expensive but definitely worth it!!

Only downfall was that our waiter confused our order and gave us two house salad. We told the server that the salads wasn't ours, he goes to the kitchen and comes back and says it's ours. We ate the salad and our waiter says he confused our order "his mistake". We ended up paying for the salad we didn't order. Overall the food was great.

This has to be one of the only consistently Very Good restaurants in Red Bank. Every time I go there my meal is very good or actually closer to outstanding. I love consistency especially for such a reasonable price.

We took our son and his gf here for their first time. Our table was ready, and we had called the restaurant to reserve 2 of their pork Osso Bucco dinners. There’s is delish and they sell out quickly! Our server Peter (who we ask for) is always attentive and very friendly but not to the point of becoming annoying haha! All our dinners were served hot, appetizers were not rushed and the overall experience is always spot on! The restaurant itself is quite cozy but my only complaint is that it does get a little loud - but everyone is having fun so why complain?

I don’t here with friends the other night. Reservations are recommended. Unfortunately, we got stuck between a table of 14 and a table of 10. Table of 14 was fine but the table 10 was very noisy. It was fine once they left! But people have said that the restaurant is noisy and they are correct. Our server was ok. Very nice but we did have to ask him to come to the table once or twice. Food was exceptional. I had the stuffed chicken which was delicious. It was served with seasonal vegetables and the truffle salted fries. I also got a side order of the mushroom risotto which was outstanding. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. I can’t recommend the desserts though. The Nutella crepes were hard and a little burned. The bread pudding was flavorful but not as moist as I would’ve enjoyed. I thought it was a little pricey as we just had water with our meals nor did we have any appetizers. We
shared two desserts and had coffee and it came to $50 a person which I thought was a lot But I’m cheap! :)
I can recommend the food however-delicious!

Have been to Monticello's many times before. The food is always good and so is the service. However, the service left a lot to be desired this time. We waited at least an hour after getting our appys and salad. Many times I saw or waiter talking and just hanging around while we too waited. We had to ask for refills of water, and when we asked for more bread, it never came. Other customers who came in after us, were served before us. This is not a good way to run a restaurant. I'm hoping it was an off night for them. Will not be retuning as quickly as times before.
