My boyfriend and I went to Montgomery Inn for our three year anniversary. As recent graduates, it was affordable yet fancy enough to really feel like a night on the town. Stunning views across the river and delicious ribs! Only downside was that we placed a reservation but still had to wait a good twenty minutes before being seated.
I made a reservation because I was on a time schedule and I arrive on time to find out I cannot be seated for 45 minutes to an hour. Why have a reservation? This was an important dinner and I had someone with a time constraint. Unacceptable.
Food wasn't bad, but not worth it for the price. I think it's severely overpriced and one of the most overrated restaurants in Cincy. Also, the reservation means nearly nothing. Reservation was for 7:30, got there at 7:25 and had to wait for nearly an hour, about the same time as the people next to us who had no reservations.
We have been to the Boathouse numerous times, never had a problem being seated at our reservation time. When making the reservations for this visit, I had no idea this was local Prom night and many tables were set up for large groups. Consequently, we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time. That, however, was the only negative. Once seated, we had immediate attention from our server and he was superb for our entire dinner experience. We go to the Boathouse for the iconic ribs and fun atmosphere and, once again, we were impressed. The attentive, efficient service made up for being seated late.
We had reservations but were told we had a half hour wait. I’m so happy they told us we could wait at the bar. We ended up sitting at the bar and had our meal there. The staff were very attentive and of course the food was delicious 😋
Reservations mean priority seating, not a table when reserved. Way to noisy. Not in favor of required valet parking in their own lot
The food was really great, I really enojed everything we ate as part of the restaurant week menu. I give it 3 starts and not 5 for the following reasons: Even with a reservation I had to wait a full 30 minutes to be seated (table for 2). Then our order was lost in the kitchen and it took forever to get our ribs. Easily 30+ mins for the appetizers to come, then probably another hour for the ribs to come. The waiter apologized and got our dessert order upgraded at not additional cost. However, it took us 3 hours if not longer from the moment I showed up until the moment I left. All that being said the food was phenomenal and the beers were very fairly priced! I will order take out next time though.
If a reservation is made and a request for a window is asked, the restaurant does not care. They were rude and refused and ignored the request from the open table site.this is ignored. And told as much. The idea of a relaxing or nice dinner is not there. Definitely, get the customer in and fed and out in 45 minutes is the goal.
It’s always a treat to get to the Boathouse for their ribs. They never disappoint!
It’s always fun to eat at Montgomery Inn. I’ll skip the brisket next time, tooooo much fat!
We had a delightful evening. This is not an everyday place for us. The atmosphere was great and the river view were even more spectacular. Their ribs speak for themselves. I felt the service was a little hands off and could have been stepped up a bit. We had to wait for drinks to be refilled, and condiments needed to be asked for. These were minor inconviences for me. On normal occasions this is a bit pricey for my budget, but that makes dining here special. We will be back.
The ribs were a bit overdone!!!!!!!!
That is all I have to say.
Was kind of a let down compared to what it has been in the past but . Ribs were a little over done . Kind of had a charred taste . Tonight it was just average.
Arguably the best ribs in the Midwest, possibly the country. When traveling to Ohio this is a MUST stop.
Seeking a change of scene from Miami University and were pleased with this venue. Cloudy day, but nice view of the Ohio River and the ribs were excellent. Service was friendly but too eager to clear plates while some were still eating, which I find to be aggressive. Makes the diners feel very rushed to finish and we waited to be served. Would Like to enjoy the good food, please!
It was ridiculously loud this time. I wouldn’t go for a romantic date.
Our food was excellent, cooked to our request. The service was outstanding, my wife and I enjoyed our evening.
Our first time going there. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. It was a very crowded Saturday night after a Red's game. The wait was under 15 minutes, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was amazing!! We will definitely be back!
Date night with the hubby!!! Great food, great service, and great view!!!
Ron was an excellent, attentive server! My husband and I were able to sneak out for a date night. Food was perfect, accurate order and prompt service. Can't wait to go back.
My birthday dinner: awesome
I got the ribs and they were delicious
Wonderful river view... great service... disappointing bar-b-que.
Visited for first time on Saturday for lunch. The window table views of the river were great. The server was enthusiastic and attentive. However, for a restaurant specializing in bar-b-que, the food was disappointing. While the bar-b-que sauce had a nice flavor, the brisket and pork ribs meat so/so. The cornbread flavor dry and lacked flavor. The cole slaw was spicy with a strong horseradish flavor. The bread basket plentiful, but the bread disappointing.
Perhaps it was simply an off day, but we left disappointed in our meal.
We had a great time. We were seated quickly and the food was good.
We got lost somewhere between servers, but once they found out that we didn't
had a server, it was corrected.
Did not have the Sassoregale Sangiovese in stock yet. I love that wine!!!
We enjoyed it, the younger folks particularly. The sauce was excellent as always. But anyone who ordered duck was disappointed in its lack of taste.
Brought visitors from outside the US to experience a Cincinnati treasure. Very good service and food. Nice location and view along river.
We always enjoy the "Boat House". Food is great and the service is always top notch. We were celebrating our 23rd Wedding Anniversary; were able to get a window table. Very nice time.
Great meal, fast seating and it was an excellent view. Service was a little slow, but overall a great experience.
Nice dinner. Always enjoy the restaurant. Only issue was I reserved for 7pm and finally got a table at 810pm. I understand their disclaimer about still having to wait awhile but I thought this was a little excessive.
Great view of the river, great atmosphere and great food. We went on a Saturday evening which is the busiest time to go. My only complaint was the service was slow. We waited almost 15 minutes before a server came to our table and it took a while for our food to come out. By the time our food arrived we weren't even hungry. However, it was extremely busy. I would def go back the next time I'm in town.
One of our favorite places to go ! Always "top shelf" service and great menu !
We walked right in and they had our table ready. I was very pleased with dinner. The only think I didn’t like was the sourdough bread and the veggies were very dry. Other than that it was a great way to celebrate a birthday with a few friends.
Boathouse is always special because of it location
Nice place overlooking the river. Friendly, good service.
Our visit was for a birthday with my two kids - UC students.
We will be back! Easter weekend! Wonderful experience!
Ribs seemed over cooked as though they were warmed up leftovers. Not as good as they used to be. Salads are now an additional charge. Still miss the complimentary relish tray!
We had Easter dinner here and everything was perfect, starting with the valet parking to our table with a beautiful view to our delicious food and best of all our server was wonderful!!!
Food was amazing, my filet was cooked perfectly service was great for as slammed as they were. Will definitely be back
