Excellent restaurant. The food, atmosphere, and service were excellent. The ribs are amazing.
Great service and great food, would definitely go back!!
We took a visitor from out of town. She loved the ribs, as we do! The service and atmosphere are great as well.
We had made reservations and upon arrival we were told that our “priority seating” would be about a 15 min wait. An hour and a half later we were finally sat once the whole restaurant cleared out. If you have anything else planned after your dinner here I would recommend not going or giving yourself a min of 3 hours. When we were finally sat we were rushed and in the way. You’re better at first come first serve or sticking with the bar.
Even though we we booked for 7:30 my family and I got to the restaurant early about 7:05. We checked in and were told it would be about 30 minutes. We went upstairs and had a drink and checked back about 45 minutes later after we noticed at least 10 other parties being seated before us. We were celebrating our sons birthday it’s his favorite. We waited around for another 20 minutes before I asked again we were told it would be a few more minutes and that there was not a table big enough for us which was strange because I was told there were two parties of two ahead of us but, we were a party of four. After a few more minutes we were taken to a table but, we were then told it was not for us so we to go back to waiting area a little embarrassing for my family and I. We finally got sat about 8:25. They did apologize but, I am sure we will be back unless they wanted invite my family back for free.
Reservations are not reservations on Saturday eve
My boyfriend and I came in Friday night around 9:30. I haven’t been to this location in years, but it was our anniversary and we had gift cards. Our dinner was phenomenal. The taste was absolutely to die for. We ate every single bite. Our dessert was equally amazing. However our food was not the best part. Our server was the BEST. I’m a server myself so I know good service and he was top of the line. I meant to take our receipts so that I could get his name, because I can’t remember from when he introduced himself. He deserves recognition so I’m very sad I can’t remember his name. He was very attentive and never let our waters even come close to being empty. He brought all food promptly and always made sure we were taken care of. Even when my boyfriend forgot his scarf at the table he made sure to run it out to him, even though it was freezing cold outside. Definitely the best restaurant experience I have had in a very very long time.
Food was ok, nothing special. Very disappointed in the service. Waiter knocked over a 2/3 full glass of beer and drenched my leg. Seemed more concerned about the the table and floor than me. Didn't send the manager over or offer to comp my meal.
Service was a little slow, but the server was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was excellent. It was my daughter’s birthday and they brought her a complimentary dessert with a single candle. No obnoxious singing, just quiet recognition.
The sauces were recently made gluten free and my wife (gluten intolerance) enjoyed with us without fear. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious.
There were options for ordering a la carte, as well as pick 2 and 3 options. Great meal for the price.
We will definitely be returning.
Meal was great and our server Kathy was sensational. Attentive but never a bother. Had a great time.
Food was very good, and the view of the river was nice. Our server was friendly, but seemed to be able to handle only one task at a time.
Great BBQ! The brisket was the best I have ever had :)
friendly and prompt service with great tasty food
Had dinner with friends on NewYears Eve. Great time and great food! Went up to the bar to ring in the new year. Staff handed out hats and noisemakers! Most enjoyable New Years!
Food was good as usual but was warm but not hot. Our waitress did an excellent job but the other staff we at the point of being rude. Our water glasses with water in them were slide across our table as the guy walked by not missing a stride. Having their ribs I asked the guy that brought them to the table for their traditional bib. He just walk away and as luck would have it I spilled on my sweater.
Overall, Montgomery Inn didn't disappoint. The food was delicious; however, we were rushed. There was just 2 of us and from the time we sat down and until we were finished, it was 30 minutes. We ordered an appetizer, salad and entrees. We were barely finished with each course and the next one came out. Swapping out dirty plates with the next course. It was NYE so I know the restaurant was trying to turn over tables quickly. It look a bit longer to get the check, wrap up leftovers and pay. All in all we were out in under an hour. That wasn't the experience that I was looking for on NYE. It felt like a fast food restaurant.
Valet parking is fast and makes you feel special. Priority seating is a gem! We walked right in and were seated. Ron was very attentive to our table, as was Niko, who has served our table before. The floor managers both stopped by the table when they learned we were there with a new grandchild. The waterfront view was very pleasant. The Shrimp Cantonese is very special. We enjoyed the blackened salmon, BBQ chicken, and of course the ribs. Both the cheesecake and the Profiterole were excellent. We enjoy the Boathouse at least twice a year.
Service and food was OK! The slab of ribs were a little salty for my taste. To me it was just an average experience.
WELL I’D WRITE MORE BUT IM NOT SURE HOW TO BECAUSE OUR MEAL WAS NONEXISTANT. APPARENTLY, RESERVATION DOESN’T MEAN RESERVATION. WE WAITED ONE FULL HOUR AFTER OUR RESERVATION BEFORE LEAVING, BECAUSE WE STILL HADN’T BEEN SEATED. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.
Always good, always fresh. Montgomery Inn is a classic.
Was very impressed with the restaurant but was let down by the priority seating. Made priority seating 2 weeks prior for a 6:30 time. Arrived at 6:30 and was told it would take 15-30 minutes to be sat. in the meantime people that walked in without priority seating were getting sat faster or quoted the same amount of time as my party with the same amount of people in their party. Was disappointed that the priority seating did not seem to matter and felt that we actually were seated later then walk ins.
Unfortunately we were not very happy with Montgomery Inn boathouse on this occasion. We made reservations three weeks prior to our arrival and had to wait an additional hour before we were seated. We were told priority seating would be 15 to 20 minutes after arrival. That did not happen. We had six people in our party two children and two older adults plus my wife and myself. We were very unhappy with the time that we had to stand and wait for a table. Not sure if I even needed to make reservations because we had to wait over an hour anyway. Thank you.
Table was incredibly small and right next to the waiting staff's computer. My guest was hit on the head on one occasion by one of the several staff members trying to move things by our table.
We had reservations for 3:00, when the restaurant opened on a Saturday, which I think was actually a good choice, as the place began filling up quickly. We were seated right away and were given a preferred window seat overlooking the Ohio River. Our waiter, Ron, was an enthusiastic older gentleman who made our first-time experience at this restaurant memorable and fun! My husband is a rib-enthusiast, and was not disappointed! I chose the brisket, and was very pleased, as well. The value of the 3 for $33 (an appetizer, entree, and dessert) my husband took advantage of, was truly a great deal! We were super satisfied that we chose Montgomery Inn Boathouse to celebrate our Anniversary! The only complaint would be that no one in the restaurant seemed to be familiar with the Montgomery Inn Loyalty card I had signed up for online, previous to our visit. According to what was outlined on the web, with our Loyalty card, we should have received a free appetizer or dessert, since we were celebrating our Anniversary. We did pick up the card at the restaurant, and their system showed I had registered, but they were not familiar with the free birthday/anniversary deal, only that with our receipt from our meal, we were able to receive loyalty points. While that was a bit disappointing, we really did not need the extra food, as we even had to request take-home boxes for our main entree. We will definitely return to Montgomery Inn Boathouse in the future!
Firstly I know ribs are the specialty, but they have always had a good New York Strip too. However this time was unimpressive. I ordered medium rare and received well done, my second one was cooked properly but not the quality I expect from the boathouse. They have also changed the onion straws since our last visit and neither my wife nor myself liked them. We ordered an app, wedge salad and macaroni & cheese as a side plus dessert and all were very good. Service was excellent.
The ribs are excellent but I gave the food only 3 stars because the salad and the fries were disappointing. The ribs are top class but the sides were very mediocre. Staff were also excellent.
Service was great even though busy and food was very good.
I WOULDN'T ORDER A STEAK HERE AGAIN, NOR WOULD I SUGGEST IT.
Dinner was delicious! We didn’t expect it to be so casual of an atmosphere though. We ordered the Teds platter, so we could taste a variety. The brisket was so tender and ribs were fall off the bone. Our platter was supposed to come with cornbread, but we had so much other food, we didn’t even bother to mention it.
It was freezing cold outside and snowing that the $4 for the valet parking was well worth it, considering they cleaned our car off as well!
First "not awesome" experience I've ever had at the Boathouse. We waited 40m to get seated, too much parmesan and not enough dressing on the Caesar salad and the ribs needed more time in the slow cooker (weren't falling off the bone). Waiter was great, but felt like the place was overbooked tonight if that makes sense.
You should not have joined Open Table reservation service if you are not going to read the comments or special requests section. I requested a table instead of a booth for back issue reasons and was taken to a booth. We also had an out of towner with us and requested to be near a window and received a very rude response from the host when I mentioned this to him about our reservation. Also, by the time the food came to our table, the plum/mustard sauce for the shrimp and the sauce on the ribs had a film on them like they had been sitting under a lamp for a long time. This was our most disappointing visit ever.
Celebrating an 80th birthday!
Love the Boathouse. I always find it a bit too cold for me though (air temp, not food). We only go there once per year though. Dinner for 2 adults and 2 teens is expensive. We all for the ribs too. Can I suggest that your butter for the bread is not served rock hard? Can’t spread it on the bread
Christmas Dinner: our waitress was wonderful, and the food was great as always.
Never disappoints. Montgomery Inn chili was great.
Very disappointing in service. Had a 5:30 reservation and had to wait 1\2 hour for table. Told waitress we had an 8 o'clock show and she wasn't in any hurry to take care of our time frame.
Requested through Open Table for window view. Upon arriving, the waiter said she knew nothing about it and that none were available
A local favorite that we always enjoy especially with out of town guests!
Great food and service! First time going there and will gladly be going back. Ribs and chicken were to die for, and the side of Saratoga chips!
