This was our first time at the restaurant and we loved it! We can't wait to return. The food was wonderful and the staff were great!
Not from the area, and had not been for approximately 20 years. Went back for wedding anniversary and it was just as I remembered. Ribs are outstanding!! Had after dinner drinks upstairs on the outside deck. Perfect evening!!! Highly recommend!!!
All of our food was outstanding, particularly the ribs. Fall off the bone yummy. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good meal.
My 24 birthday dinner.
I haven't been to the Montgomery Inn since 1982 when I last lived in the area. We were staying in the city and we were going to go out to the original until I saw on line there was one on the river. It was AMAZING! We were lucky enough to get a window seat. The food was as good as I remembered! I am so glad to have been able to share this memory with my family!
The Montgomery Inn Boathouse is our special occasion go-to restaurant. When we got to the restaurant we were told it would be a 45 minute wait for a window seat so we agreed to another. Seemed that people with reservations might not have to wait so long for the better tables. Although our server was pleasant, we felt that our service was a bit lacking and my husband never received a drink he had ordered. Our reservation was at 6 which was a bit early and it was not totally crowded. Not sure we will continue to take our out of town guests to the Boathouse nor use it for special occasions quite as often.
I have been here before. I remember the food being better. I had pork chops, and they were good, but not great. The loaded baked potato looked and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period. The ambience and the view of the river is good, I just thought that the food quality could have been a bit better.
Still riding on their reputation from 20/30 years ago. We go here for work often and the service continues to decline on each visit. For the price ... There are dozens of better options.
Took forever. Ribs were extremely dry. The waitress lost my bank card. I was the one that found it, on the floor like 30 feet from me. No one apologized. Management avoided me. Awful experience. Will never go back. I reached out to management afterwards and never heard back
Haven't been to Montgomery Inn, any location in several years. While the service was great and friendly, the food was really nothing special. I had a combo meal with ribs and brisket. The ribs were fine but the brisket was dry and overcooked. I would have expected more for $25. Sides were nothing special with a corn muffin (also dry), green beans and onion straws.
My friend had the Mahi special and she had the same experience. The outdoor patio view is great here though.
Next time I'll sacrifice the ambiance for better food at much more reasonable prices and get ribs at another restaurant.
We had a wonderful server but service seems very slow compared to previous visits. I’m sure it was because of Mother’s Day occasion. We had group of 7. Overall, an excellent experience. Food is always excellent. We tend to go to the original location more. I do like the Boathouse too.
It was just “okay” this time. Crab cakes aren’t served anymore but is still on the menu online?? Food to over an hour to get and then was at par. However, dessert was really good and best part of meal. We had key lime pie and sundae.
Whether it is the Boathouse or the original location, the food and service are always excellent. It is no wonder why they have survived for many years.
Loved it!!!! My only complaint (if you'd call it that) is that the pork chops were not as juicy as I remember it. But our service was great, the food plentiful, and the atmosphere amazing!
The best ribs in the tri- state area weve been going there for 25 years+
This is where we go every Mother's Day it is special to us. They have the best strawberry shortcake...
Even though the reservation warns you that you have to wait approximately 15min and even though the restaurant was full due to Mother's day, I did not have to wait for a table and they assigned me the best table next to the window overlooking the river. Very good service
we were a little early for our reservation but they seated us right away. service was great. food was prompt and very tasty. ribs were a little charred on the ends otherwise I would have given excellent. you must valet park to use their parking lot which I was not aware but it was $5. I normally don't carry cash but had it that day. not sure how they handle the situation if you don't have cash. I took my wife, kids and mother in law here on mother's day. My boys are picky eaters but the loved their food. would definitely go back. Great experience.
My boyfriend and his family went to the boathouse to celebrate Mother’s Day. The night was wonderful. Our serve was amazing and the pulled pork nachos were 10/10. The brisket was tender and even the desserts were phenomenal. I would definitely go back and enjoy the amazing food and service.
Took my wife to the Boathouse for an early Mother's Day dinner. Setting out in the Beer Garden was a great option to enjoy the weather, the river and the food.
A colleague of mine from Cincinnati recommended the Montgomery Inn - At The Boathouse as a great place to eat. He also stated that the Ribs were the best he has had. We had to travel from Green Bay , WI to a wedding and I, my wife and my oldest daughter made a 7pm reservation and arrived at 6:50pm, and were immediately seated. We had a great view of the river and the scenery across the river. We each ordered something different. I had a full rack of St Louis Ribs, my wife the brisket, and my daughter the New York Strip. We begain with some Haystack onions and they were dynamite. Our dinners were delicious. We all shared a little bit with each other and so we all experienced 3 great meals. Our waiter (an older gentleman) was outstanding. He was funny but also a great waiter. He helped also to make this a wonderful dining experience. All the staff worked very hard. My water glass was never empty, and dirty dishes disappeared quickly. They worked great together. We told many people at the wedding about our dinner out, and many being from Cincinnati had been to a Montgomery Inn, and mirrored that it is a great place to eat! 5 stars!!
I have eaten at the original Montgomery Inn and the food was much better. For all the hype that Montgomery Inn Ribs get, I was very disappointed. The original ribs were very dry, almost overcooked. My companion ordered the sampler which included the St. Louis smoked ribs and they were even drier. Our waiter was a bit pushy and the whole meal fell far below expectations. There are numerous other places that make ribs that are better for less than the price charged here. It is a scenic view from the deck off the bar but I can get the view at other places along the Riverfront. Diners should also be aware that parking is essentially valet only unless you want to park a mile away and walk back, so the cost of your meal has a $7 up-charge. Other places across the river do not charge this.
We love BBQ. We were referred to Montgomery Inn. We strongly disliked the ribs. The famous sauce tasted of ketchup with sugar. Maybe caught them on an off day, but it was terrible.
Great spot and value in Cincinnati. Panoramic view of the Ohio River, food is outstanding, service very friendly. I recommend the Ted's platter so you can sample more than one style of ribs.
Had a colleague up for his first business trip from Costa Rica. All his friends here and there told him he had to go to the boathouse. I got to take him and, even though he was dieting, he got the biggest sampler platter. I expected he would need a carry out box. Boy was I wrong. He hammered it and didn’t have any scraps:-). Looks like the legend of the Boathouses great food will continue to live on in Costa Rica. Well done folks!!!
We love Montgomery Inn! Go to eat there every chance we get. Food, servers and atmosphere are always excellent!
Kim may be the nicest and gracious server I’ve ever had.
The food was very good as usual. Our server Ron Hunt is the BEST! He usually always waits on us. He knows what we order and exactly how we like it. We come here 1st for the service by Ron and the food is the 2nd reason we come.
overall food was amazing an the atmosphere was great to. i thought jennifer was kinda abrassive an u really couldnt kid around with her. she would hardly smile or anything.
Went to Montgomery Inn to celebrate completing The Flying Pig races. It was amazing! So delcious!
Ribs, ribs, and more ribs. Best ribs around with a great view of the Ohio river. When in Cindy for the reds or Bengals, it is a must. We used it as a flying pig pre race dinner.
other than a bit of a wait everything was great. The food and service outstanding. the view was excellent and our server was awesome. would recommend!
Was not happy to have to wait 15 minutes after making a reservation. It was very crowded and noisy. The lounge area smelled of cigar smoke. I mentioned our birthday celebration both on the phone when making the reservation and to our waiter. He brought the check and didn't even mention. I had to pull him aside separately to remind him. Food was good but atmosphere not worth it. Disappointing! I will not go back.
The restaurant’s staff was very welcoming, tentative, and accommodating. Smoked ribs could be prepared better; my serving was beyond dried out and tasted burnt. The server and manager were helpful with offering other popular rib choices (still wasn’t to my liking). Burger and fries were tasty as well as the carrot cake!
What happened to their great ribs? I believe that their chef has left town. Our ribs were dried out and quite a disapointment.
We entertained family from out of town. I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. My husbands green beans were soggy. My pulled chicken tasted burned. The loaded baked potato was hot, but was dry and old. Me and my guest could tell that the potato had been sitting around for awhile. One of our guests asked for green beans and was told that the vegetable of the day was broccoli. My husband received green beans with his meal after our guest was told that he couldn’t get green beans. One guest ordered the bone in ribeye. The steak was charred quite badly. Overall the server (dizzy) was nice. We still tipped him well because he did not cook the food. The bad experience was enough not to go back or to recommend to friends.
The service was wonderful. Food portions huge. Ribs and beef brisket were well prepared and the presentation was nice. We had adult beverages which were prepared with a decent amount of alcohol (unlike other restaurants where you wonder where the alcohol was) was excellent. Dessert was home-made and delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant for any/all occasions.
Food was awesome, celebrating my daughter's 29th birthday. Server named Dizzy was the best ever! You can't lose at this place!
We had 7 people in our party to celebrate a significant employee accomplishment. Everything was excellent from the time it took to get seated to our service by our waitress. The meal was excellent! We all can’t wait to go back!
Service was not great. It was very noisy. Seemed to be in a rush to get tables turned over. I have eaten here many times over the past 20 years and the experience keeps getting worse.
