We loved it. And we will make it a once a monthly must meet-up. So glad places like this survive in a city that has been overrun with chains.

Please don't change anything.

My family has been going to this restaurant for decades. Great to get back and reminisce. The food is as delicious as it was years ago. After dinner we sat at the bar and spoke with the chef and his son. A Greenwich Village institution. Molto Bene!

This was always in of my favorites. I hadn’t been in 30 years. SO glad it’s still there. Excellent food, great pricing; exceptional, first class, NYC service. The gentlemen work as a team and don’t miss a beat. Shrimp Monty’s are wonderful!

Classic NY Italian restaurant. Great food and great, old school service: You won't hear "Still workin on that guys?" at Monte's.

Small/cozy, with a few steps down.

Great food and service in an old school setting. Six of us were there, every app was delicious and we each had different entrees which everyone loved. Food was fresh and cooked to perfection. I’ve been going there once or twice a year for years and not once have I or anyone I’ve been with been disappointed. Throw in the neighborhood with all it has to offer and it doesn’t get better than Monty’s!

Perhaps it is what I ordered but it wasonly OK. Chicken rollitini had tiny bones in it and the Penne vodka was completely unremarkable. Clams in white wine and appetizer was excellent

When staying in the Village, Monte's is delicious as well as very affordable. Had a quieter table upstairs which made the meal more enjoyable. Service was outstanding. This was our second time and we'll be back.

The food is always wonderful. We had the stuffed artichoke and baked clams to start. We both had the Osso Buco for an entree w a side of broccoli rabe. We go here once a year for christmas time dinner. It is consistently delicious year after year.

My boyfriend and I had both of our parents come into the city from NJ for dinner. We have been to Monte’s in the past and wanted to bring them there, so we made a reservation days in advance. When we arrived for our 7pm reservation, the hostess told us it would be 10-15 minutes which was disappointing considering we had a reservation. 15 minutes later still no table, 25 minutes later, 40 minutes later we finally sit down and the whole night had been brought down by this experience. Not only was everyone hungry and waiting in that cramped space, but both sets of parents needed to be back in NJ that same evening. The service was SO slow and we had to beg the waiter to come over and take our order. When the bill came, nothing had been comped considering the heinous start to the evening. The hostess was nowhere to be found so we had to get our own coats from the coat check room. I can’t trust this place for reservations anymore and I will not be bringing a group here again as it was embarrassing.

We were looking for a great Italian restaurant. After reading several reviews online, this one was highly recommended. I booked it on Open Table, and we were seating almost immediately after our arrival. The servers were wonderful, and Chef Pietro came and visited our table! What a wonderful man! My friend told him it was my birthday, and he proceeded to create a special dessert for me! The ambience was quaint but fun, and everyone around us seemed to be having a great time. I would return here in a a heartbeat!

Arrived pre-Blue Note performance, service was impeccable (Philip) and good conversation. A surprise touch of thyme enhanced the white sauce mussels. Each course was uniquely balanced with layered flavors and textures.

We were showing friends from Florida the village and decided on Italian. Actually I thought I had made reservations at the place that is 3 doors down from Monte's toward Bleeker but I had mixed up names. I had eaten at the other place once and it was very good! We decided to honor our reservations at Monte's and the other place was packed anyway. We were seated right away in a very packed upstairs. We were literally right out side the bathroom door. Service was attentive. Food... not good. Overdone pastas with little to no sauce. So dry and sticky. Weird actually. We are a large Italian family with two trained chefs in the family. We are used to rich sauces and good, al dente pasta, usually homemade. This was not it. My son's gnocchi was like gum. My husband was excited to get pasta Bolognese but the Bolognese was dribbled on and we are not sure what the 5 specks in the small bit of sauce were. Meat? My lasagna would have been okay if there were any red sauce on it. Are they trying to save pennies? Don't get it. I was actually really embarrassed that I brought everyone here. We will never go back nor recommend this place. There are a lot of really good Italian restaurants around that are not stingy.

Monte's was recommended by a family member. We made reservations and arrived a little early but were welcomed warmly and seated promptly. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy and the food was amazing. It was everything promised and more. Will definitely go back next time we are in NYC.

We had a great meal at Monte’s! The authenic food and vibrant atmosphere added to a fun evening. We’re visiting NYC but felt very welcome in this local joint. Everyone seemed to know each other, and we enjoyed watching the busy staff, and chatting to the locals.
The food itself was comforting Italian pastas which were traditional and delicious. Nothing fancy here, just authentic Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Whenever we visit NYC, we always dine here. The food is amazing. Melts in your mouth and you just feel like you have gone back in time when you enter the restaurant. The staff is so friendly and we always feel welcome and it is always full, so make a reservation. We highly recommend Monte’s if you want a true family owned and absolutely delicious, incredible Italian meal. We give it 5 stars.

Will definitely be back!!! This about the 4th time I have eaten at Monte's. The food is excellent, and you are traeted like a special guest whenever you go there. It is in a very busy shopping/entertainment area. The tables are very close together so not good for a large group, but that's what makes it so cozy.
