Delicious food. A little on the noisy side, but the restaurant was full. Sometimes hard to get the waiter's attention. Plenty specials in addition to a varied menu. If you're going to a show in the Village area, perfect location. Recommended.
This was our first time to Monte’s and we enjoyed the experience. They were out of a number of Italian reds I requested but eventually found one they had in stock. Nice variety on menu and specials really looked special. My guest ordered the ravioli special and raved about it. I had the cheese ravioli since that is one of my tests of Italian places; it passed with flying colors. My guest had the tiramisu for dessert while I had a cannoli. Both were excellent. The service was professional and personal. The atmosphere was fun with many locals enjoying themselves with friends. We’ll go back for sure.
Food was good, but the portions were extremely small. I ordered chicken parm and got 1/2 a breast with a kid-sized portion of pasta on the side. I don't like overly big portions but this was ridiculous and disappointing.
Went to Monte’s for our anniversary. Food was delicious. Staff and service amazing! Highly recommend!
Very cute, authentic place. Prices were reasonable. Service was great. Really enjoyed the lasagna and cannelloni.
Very cool step down restaurant. The feeling is old world nyc Italian. The waiters are professionals. The cocktails were excellent and reasonably priced. We had the prosciutto & burata. The shrimp dish was great and the chicken scarpiello was excellent. The food is classic, service professional, the prices reasonable.. Definitely worth a visit.
First time back since Covid. Family in town as well. Great to go back.
Delicious stuffed zucchini flowers appetizer followed by veal and pasta main courses and tira misu desert. Chef Pietro and staff never disappoint!!
Excellent preparations of traditional Italian dishes in a comfortable setting. Attentive, efficient service. We were very pleased.
The staff was incomparable. Very helpful with a member of our party that needed some easy access to the restroom facility on the first floor, where we were seated. We all had a good time and enjoyed our meal!
Great all round
The bartender brought zucchini blossoms from his personal garden and the kitchen made them into a superb appetizer: stuffed with ricotta, breaded and fried, resting on a bright swirl of tomato sauce.
Appetizer and entrees. 2h10. Brutally slow. When we asked when our food would be out, our server said “eventually“. Took 15 minutes to get our check, then another 15 to get it back after we gave them our credit card. Food was good but I won’t go back.
When you sit at 6:30, don’t get appetizers until close to 8, then are told at 8:45 that they are out of the fish you ordered - nope. Will never go back.
Great old school Italian Restaurant. The food was excellent . Waiters knew their food and made great recommendations . Prices reasonable , defiantly a restaurant I will return too.
Chose this place based on reviews and wanting to go to a new place. While I’m a life long New Yorker, I don’t mind hitting a “touristy” place from time to time.
Wow was I surprised. And not in a good way.
The place is nice and clean….they must have just repainted. Our waiter was definitely old school. Loved that …nice solid service. That was the best part.
Food…calamari, while tasty, definitely came out of a frozen bag. The asparagus was totally disappointing. Mushy. Tasteless and oily.
My “Bolognese” was dry. How a sauce can be dry is beyond me but it was.
Wasn’t cheap. Then again ALL restaurants are charging premium prices since the pandemic.
Would NOT recommend this old time place at all. Cause why would you go there in a city where there’s an Italian place on every corner. I blame myself. Oh well. Moving on
Initially I was blown away by the wine, ordered a pretty simple bottle but it was fantastic. Afterwords the food did not disappoint. Everything was incredible. Perfect portions, fresh ingredients. The staff was so friendly and sweet. I will definitely be returning. The wine and food reminded me of my time in Italy. It wasn’t American-Italian but truly felt just Italian.
We ate outdoors and the set up was lovely. Great food, great ambiance, great energy. Service was a little slow but everything else about the evening was perfect. Highly recommend.
We had a party of 14 and Montes did an outstanding job! Service and food were fabulous. Everyone in our party had a five star experience! The eggplant parmigiana, lasagna, ravioli, tortellini to just name a few of the entrees we had were all wonderful. Great restaurant, great staff, great food!
I selected Monte's for my wife and I and our best friends because they wanted to experience "The Village"....I made a great choice!! When we arrived the downstairs was packed but there was a table for 4 waiting for us but the Mater Dei said "it's pretty tight for the 4 of you so let's go upstairs....more room." Wow....Thank You!! Upstairs had a good amount of people but plenty of room. From that point on it just got better....great service, great food!! The appetizer special stuffed zucchini flowers were amazing as was the artichokes oreganata. Our dinners were Eggplant Parm (2), Shrimp Monte's and Veal Bolognese were equally amazing. We and our friends thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We will return as well as recommend.
Great atmosphere. Food was outstanding
We have been going here for 10 years! The staff is wonderful & the food is amazing! Always have the baby artichoke hearts for appetizer.. if you like artichoke you’ll LOVE this dish. So very happy they survived the pandemic when others have not
Great atmosphere and service. Friendly place with great food.
We arrived on time for our reservation and we were seated promptly. The main course food was served promptly. However, there was a bit of a delay in getting the desert and coffee (due to being busy, I guess). Overall a nice dining experience.
Pietro Moscon’s MONTE ‘s is THE place to go for that family dinner or romantic tasting share dinner or business or just because you absolutely love Italian regional food.
You won’t be disappointed.
He’s a master at all seafoods, his pasta is thin, light perfection. Love everything on the menu.
Go there & you will be sharing your NY Italian restaurant secret with your friends.
We love Monte's. It is a truly authentic hidden gem.
The service was very slow but the food was excellent.
Chef Pietro Mosconi, the Chef of Greenwich Village, still getting it done after all these years! Delicious food and great service on the outdoor streetside patio. Chef himself came to sit with us and chat. My family has gone for many years here and their sister restaurant Villa Mosconi
Always a favorite — old-school classic New York Italian at its finest with the most gentlemanly waiters in town!
We had such a fabulous dinner. Enjoyed every morsel and the staff was fabulous. Great local gem!!
The food was phenomenal.
Food was off the hook fabulous. Service was unusually spotty, not their usual. We hit at an odd time and maybe that was it.
Food and service was outstanding but it was noisy. Ambiance brought back memories of the good old days.
Our absolute favorite place!!!!
Outstanding food. The bread could have been a little better.
Excellent delicious Italian food! Highly recommend, very fair prices
The food is always great and the owners and staff welcome you like family.
A great meal every time
Wonderful staff and service
Visited Monte's Trattoria while visiting family in the West Village and could not have been happier with our choice! The food was delicious. The portions were the perfect size that enabled us to enjoy our meals fully without feeling overly stuffed. Hope to be back and would recommend!
Always a joy. Staff knows us now; we’ve been going there for years. Dining outside was wonderful! One of our favorite places!
