All of our food was perfect, and the view was spectacular. The dessert was our highlight of the meal (angelfood grilled cheese).
The service was spectacular and the food was delicious!
As an obnoxious New Yorker, I hold restaurants to high standards. I have been going to Pittsburgh and Monterey Bay since 1999. Hadn’t been in about 5 years, and heard it dropped off. Brought my daughter for college visiits, and wanted her to see the Mount Washington view. Only negative was the fog!!! Cynthia, our server, was amazing. Fun, engaged and accommodating. The seafood trio app was spot on. My daughter never liked a crab cake... loved it tonight. We love mussels... the champagne, creme fraiche and mint elevated one of our favorite dishes. We had the halibut and strip, for a little surf and turf. Cynthia arranged for it sliced and shared for a great presentation . The soy, Worcester butter on the stop was exquisite, and Parmesan crusted halibut was decadent and flaky. So full, we didn’t think we could fit dessert. The faux grill cheese was decadent. But the latte was quite possibly my fave dessert ever. Thanks everyone.
Waited for a window table but view was more of the building next door ! Food was good - expected it to be well above average but was not. but the grilled angel food cake desert was outstanding !
Beautiful restaurant, wonderful views, and great service, and the food is great too. We had a wonderful night celebrating our birthdays.
We asked for a window table for our anniversary and did not get one. They gave us a free dessert which was nice but we were from out of town and really would of preferred a table by the window.
The view is nice. But the food was so so. I ordered the red snapper and it was basically mush with little flavor.
The only good thing was the angle food cake desert.
Not worth the price tag.
The staff were friendly, professional, and courteous. They worked together as a team and made sure our dining experience was pleasant and we were well taken care of. We truly have no complaints. Bravo to the entire staff. Special thanks to Curt.
Lovely evening and dinner! Wait staff wasn fantastic!
My gf and I arrived a half hour early. We sat downstairs in the lounge and waited for a table. The bar was gorgeous, perfect ambiance. The wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly. We got our table a little early, so that was a plus. We had an excellent meal as usual! I expect excellence from the restaurant and the always deliver. One thing I would like to add is that we had the same waitress from my last visit. Her name is Cheyenne. She is EXCELLENT at what she does. I will continue to request for her every visit from hear on out.
Food was delicious, wait staff was amazing and the ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner for 2.
Great service. Awesome food. Monterey Bay never disappoints!!
Monterey Bay is an outstanding restaurant. Great for a special night.
Brad, our waiter was great. He was efficient and easy to communicate with, food was great and we were in and out in an hour and a half. I will come back again.
It was an amazing dinner, as usual! The food is always top notch! We got engaged at Monterey Bay years ago and were pleasantly surprised with champagne and desserts on the house! We will definitely be back next year, but hopefully we won't even wait that long!!
This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been too. The halibut was absolutely delicious! What a view, ambiance is spectacular!
Date with my husband.
Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth your time and money. You get a beautiful view of Pittsburgh if you get window seats (you have to request window seating in person). Our waitress was very kind and informative. The seafood was some of the best I have ever had. I recommend the grilled oysters 100% as they were amazing.
If you’re mad about anything here, then you do not enjoy anything about living.
Overall, it was nice. The best part of our dinner was the amazing service from Cindy K. Best service I have gotten in a long time. Food wasnt that great, and tables are way to close together. I hate listening to other people's conversations. When you can reach over with your fork and grab the food off of their plate, you know it's bad table placement and way too close. Food needs to be better for the price. Thank you. Even though I wrote this review nothing will come of it. But, it's worth a shot.
My fault as I had gone before. Seated in second tier small tables. The corridor for all the servers. Ordered crab cake with shrimp. Came warm at best. Date ordered steak with peppercorns. Was very good and hot also.
If they try to seat you at one of these tiny tables ask for a bigger one. Heck spending $150 and two plates, one side , two waters and two drinks along with a bread basket hardly fit. Not to mention when the food comes out its placed on a stand for minutes while that person looks for your waiter/waitress. A shame. Probably will not go back.
Our time there was Great,
But the Salmon was under cooked and to over priced. If it was cooked thru out, than Yes all Would be Great.... I had the Fillet Minion , The Salads and Our Dessert was Good Also. Music and Views were Excellent.
They have the best dessert that I've ever had. I think technically my wife was cheating on me as she ate it. What do again, no regrets.
Our dinner was fantastic. Everything from the bread to the fish was excellent. This has always been our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh, and they did not disappoint. Our server, Holly, was awesome, and we would definitely like to have her serve us again. Perfect place for a romantic dinner.
Absolutely amazing experience. The food is so amazing and the Servers know every detail about every meal on the menu.
No matter where you are seated there is the view. Th menu and recommendations are excellent. This is always the place fo a celebrating whether it’s 2-10 people. The service does not change! Do yourself a favor a experience it first hand!!
We had out of town guests for dinner. We were surprised to get a round table at a window with a beautiful view. Our business guests were astonished at our view. We had "Mary Pat" (I think) and she was wonderful. We had filets and fish which were all done to perfection. But we finished the night with dessert that was fabulous. It was a delightful evening and we will be back. Thank you.
We have been frequent patrons to this establishment for many special occasions. However on February 12 we had a much different outcome. We came to celebrate our anniversary as well as an early valentines. We were seated downstairs at what I believe they called the Skyline. It is a totally different atmosphere compared to the ambiance and class to the upstairs dining. The noise level is a somewhat muted volume coming from bar area. From the very beginning our service was sub par. Our waitress seemed out of sorts waiting on 3 tables. We ordered a bottle of wine and although a gentleman poured our first glass we had to self serve for the rest. We ordered the appetizer per our waitress suggestion which she forgot to put in and we never got. We ordered a salad to split and it came with no cheese and one plate which we had to ask for another plate and also had to ask for the second set of silverware. Our dinners were okay not superior as they usually are. Although the manager came over and gave us an appetizer to take home, the end result is seafood is not good as good as takeout. We would be hard pressed to pay $200 for dinner again to a restaurant that is rated a 5 Star but delivered 2.5 Star.
All food was spectacular. Cocktails were the same. Sherry (Sherri?), our server, was one of the best we've ever had.
Can't recommend enough.
The food is great and it also gives you a great view of the city from up high.
One of the best meals you can get in Pittsburgh and the view IS the best. This may also likely to be nearer the most expensive meal in the city but the quality and experience match up with the price. They do a nice job with the valet parking at reasonable cost. Chef selections offer nice variety along side the traditional crab cakes and fresh fish. Still feel the overall experience is worth the money.
Truth be told, it was a bit underwhelming. We had a 5:15 PM reservation and the restaurant had plenty of seats but we were seated at a table where my husband was looking at a plain wall. Upon request, we were offered another table of choice which was much nicer. For starters, my meal and side were delivered at nearly room temperature. I prefer my food to be served hot. There was no bread brought to the table until I requested it half way through the meal. My meal was disappointing in flavor. I’ve had better crab cakes and the shrimp was bland. My husband said the salmon was good so my review is based on my meal only. On the positive side, the staff was lovely, the ambiance very nice as well as the presentation. The desserts were delicious and one was complimentary for our anniversary which was a nice surprise. For me, it’s all about the food and despite all the positives, this meal left me questioning whether I would return. At these prices, I expect more flavor. One last note, this restaurant in the past had a sophisticated atmosphere where patrons dressed in somewhat dressy attire. I was disappointed to see people in blue jeans and hoodies. That does not comply with the business casual dress code indicated on the website and tends to diminish the fine dining experience.
Came to celebrate my birthday dinner with my bf who is a vegetarian. I had mentioned about my bf’s dietary restrictions while reserving. Just to make sure we were on the same page, I had called the restaurant. I was told that they will make something vegetarian for my bf.
I come to the restaurant only to be told that there will be no vegetarian appetizer/dessert. And just one vegetarian entree.
To top it all, our server is probably the most rude person I have ever come across. He kept mocking my bf for being a vegetarian. Asking about desserts, he told him he can get fresh berries. On asking about appetizers, he asked my bf to look at my food and be content with it.
In short, never going back again. Not suggesting anyone to go there. Such a bad end to my otherwise happy birthday.
Drink prices were ridiculous but not a surprise. What was a surprise was how salty the mussels were and the fact that I ordered a drink that I'd never tried before, but our server brought the wrong drink, I learned later. No good enough considering the over $225 bill.
We went to Monterey Bay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food and service were excellent, and the dining room and view were lovely.
Very much enjoyed the experience: excellent food and service with a fantastic view! We arrived early and had a cocktail in the cozy bar area and took in the view.
After moving to our table we re-ordered cocktails and moved onto the recommended SheCrab soup. Great start- just a hint of sherry. We both had seafood: I had the salmon-perfect; my date had the Caribbean Halibet-again perfect. Our server was very attentive but not over bearing.
We finished it off with an Expresso Martini and a slice of the Banana Foster cheesecake!
Not to forget: We added the Brussel Sprouts to complement our main courses - a must have!
Wonderful evening with friends and delicious food. Scenery beautifully
And service amazing !
Service was a little slow but it was nice not being hurried through dinner. We were there for about 3 hours though.. Food was very good. The crab cake from the seafood trio appetizer was excellent. I had the red snapper, Mediterranean style, entree and it was really good.
LOVED! Service amazing, atmosphere amazing, and the Swordfish was everything I expected. So good!
It was great and the food was awesome.
