Reno was INCREDIBLE. Food was delicious. Were told that window seats were first come, first serve & couldn’t be reserved. However, 2 window tables sat open until the right people arrived. Only disappointment of the night.

Making an early 5 PM reservation on OpenTable for a Saturday dinner had its benefits. We got immediate seating at a window table for our party of 4. A window atop Mt. Washington at Monterey Fish Grotto is a must. Our server, Casey, was prompt in greeting us, orienting us to the day's specials, and leading his service associates with aplomb. You expect excellent service in a restaurant of this caliber, and we got just that. Cocktails were well prepared and appropriate in size and taste results. The only flaw was that the house had no cocktail onions so one request for a traditional Gibson cocktail turned into a Martini with blue cheese stuffed green olives. The food, all fish entrées of course, was outstanding. The food quality and value was worth the trip up the mountain, and the view and ambiance was frosting on the cake, so to speak. I had last eaten here 21 years prior for my own retirement dinner. On this visit to Pittsburgh, we placed this dinner on our must do list. I and my family member guests are all glad we could share this special dining treat. Put Monterey Fish Grotto on your own list, you will not be disappointed.

We had the most wonderful experience at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto! My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and we’re greeted by both the front desk staff and our waitress with well wishes. Our waitress, Moe, was friendly and helpful with great recommendations. Everything felt like a well oiled machine, service was timely and professional, and all of the food was fantastic. We had one of the starter specials, the seafood trio, which was amazing and the swordfish was so delicious. We had the “grilled cheese” for dessert and can’t stop thinking about how good it was. And to top it off the view was amazing. The meal was a bit pricey, but totally worth it for a special occasion. Thank you to all the staff for making our anniversary so special!

This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. The good and service were both phenomenal. As a local this will be our destination for any future celebrations. And if you are just visiting pittsburgh, you must put this on your list to take in some of the best our city has to offer.

My husband and I dined at Monterey Bay for our wedding anniversary. It was a fantastic dining experience and we most certainly will go back. Amazing food, great ambiance and amazing staff. Laticia was our server and she was absolutely wonderful!

Overall great. Only two things could improve. We felt like dishes were taken away so efficiently we felt rushed. The bread was not great, seemed a day old (it was not only crunchy on the crust but all the way through)

A highly anticipated evening turned out not to be great. I realize that everyone can not have a window view, but we were celebrating our 62nd anniversary and were seated in a booth near the kitchen with high staff traffic. Also, my wife had a constant bumping behind her seat which was brought to the attention of the wait staff. The entrees at best were barely warm. We also ordered plain fries for the table which were very hot. My guess is the entrees had to wait for the fries. The free dessert was appreciated, however the overall experience was disappointing. This is third consecutive year to celebrate our anniversary at Monterey Bay and the first time we have had a problem.

This is our”Go To” restaurant for a great dinner, amazing view and cordial staff to boot! Can’t beat these winning combinations! Their seafood from Crab-cakes to fresh fish is excellent! I highly recommend !!!

We had a wonderful time. Everyone was great. Chris was awesome and super attentive. He had great recommendations and was really honest with us about what he suggested for us and the size. My fiancé is not a big fish person, and Chris server suggested the sea bass - which was perfect. Everything was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the deviled eggs, crab cake, and the angel food cake. We look forward to coming back!

My dining partner had never been to Pittsburgh. Monterey Bay Fish grotto was the perfect place for a truly wonderful dinner, and a terrific view of Pittsburgh. The vegetables and tomatoes for fresh fish was flavorful, and the angel food cheesecake with blueberry dessert was not so rich that very refreshing.

this was our first time eating here, we came here for our 25th wedding anniversary and our server made it one of the most memorable experiences my wife and I have ever had. He was extremely help full with making selections and very accommodating to our needs. He surprised us with a desert and a glass of champagne. I would strongly recommend this place to my friends and I have no regrets about eating here for our special day. I am a trained Chef by trade myself and the cuisine was perfect and the presentation was of a very high standard.

The food was exceptional, prepared exactly as requested, the service impeccable. You often hear about a location having a million dollar view, Monterey Bay Fish Grotto has the two million dollar view, especially if your reservation has you there at sunset. It is expensive, but worth it, especially for a special occasion.

We shared the calamari appetizer, which unfortunately tasted like the fryer oil needed to be changed. I ordered the Lobster Romano which was swimming in & overpowered by too much butter. Broccolini overcooked. Wine with my entree never made it to the table; server remembered after I was finished eating. Others in our party liked their entrees more than I did mine. Only impressed with the lovely city views.

Each member of my family of 4 were very pleased with our delicious Mothers Day dinner. Everything from salmon, crab cakes, to parm crusted fluke were top notch and fresh as if we were at an ocean pier. Service was superb. The city view is spectacular. Highly recommended for splurging on a special occasion or just when in the mood for 5-star seafood/ambiance.

Food was very good and prepared to liking. I feel like there could be some more sides added to the main courses even if only small portions. The server was fair although, they could have provided more info/details/description to questions regarding the main courses. We overheard another server at a nearby table that was very thorough with answers to questions re. the menu items. All in all, very satisfied with everything.

Monterrey Bay is a great place to go on special occasions. They offer the best in seafood with outstanding views of the point and the city from Mt. Washington. Service is exceptional. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable. Enjoy the elevator ride up. You get to see the view on the way.
