   We had a wonderful graduation celebration at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. Our server, Stephanie, was phenomenal and recommended a fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon…The shrimp appetizer, mussels and the breads; gluten free and regular, were unbelievable. Our meals- delicious!!! We loved our University of Pittsburgh experience for our daughter and also appreciated the numerous restaurant options. Thank you for providing us with a beautiful space and a memorable dining experience. Until next time…

   We got the Bruschetta without the steak and the cheese and still charged the full price for the dish. The bread was so hard I thought I was going to break a tooth. The Mediterranean salad was mushy and wilted and couldn’t taste the vinaigrette dressing. I barely ate mine but she didn’t ask if I didn’t like it. I didn’t and it should’ve been taken off the bill. My mom got the Cesar Salad but instead of croutons it was more bread with crusted Parmesan on top. She couldn’t even eat it, they were like rocks. The entrees were good. But overall since the last time I’ve been here the quality of food has gone down. We were also running behind because of the severe thunderstorms rolling through. We called to notify of the tardiness in which a rude older lady at the front told my mom she would only hold it for 15 min and that’s it. We made the best of it but overall not a great food experience for my mom’s birthday dinner. Our waitress Molly was amazing tho she just should be a little more aware of people not finishing their food and price changes for dish alterations. Never had anyone check on our table like a manager or anything which I’m used to happening at an establishment such as this.

   Monterey Fish Grotto has one of the most stunning views of Pittsburgh from Mt. Washington. The interior is gorgeous. Our server and other members of the team were excellent and welcoming. However, for the price, the food quality was uneven. The crabcakes were quite good. The salads were nice. The shrimp bisque was mediocre. And the panko breading on the swordfish masked the flavor of the fish. I would return if I wanted to impress someone with the view however IMO the quality of the food did not match the prices or ambience.

   We had an enjoyable celebration dinner! Everything from start to finish was amazing. Service was A++! Will definitely go back! A gem in the city with beautiful views!

   Our waiter, James, was wonderful. I don’t drink, and was very impressed and delighted by the mocktail selection. He allowed us to take our time and enjoy and the food was spectacular.
