Nice ambiance but served a Sunday dinner that lasted until 6pm. Our reservations were at 6, but it was clear the food had been sitting all day, meat very tough and not eatable, Yorkshire pudding hard and stale . Terrible food and waiter was not that friendly. I know we were the last seating, but if they are advertising Sunday dinner until 6, it still should be the same as it was when served at noon.

Our food was delicious. The restaurant vibe is excellent. However, we rate the service as poor. My venison entre arrived 10 minutes after our three other entries. We also were served a side of mushrooms, instead of the onion rings. The chef did send us an extra order of broccoli, as well as the onion rings after we pointed out the mistake. The server took forever to clear our plates. We decided to pass on desert since we didn't want to wait any longer.

There was a very limited choice for vegetarians and gluten free options. The food we received was of a high quality but gluten free bread and crackers should be available. The waiter was unclear what was vegetarian (apart from obvious things).

We loved our dinners at Monteiths. The ambiance is lovely, the playlist perfect, service impeccable, and food superb. The cheese souffle is a thing of wonder, and the fish dishes were excellent.

A great meal, as usual, at Monteiths. Made use of a voucher for 2. Menu was great. Starters of scallops and smoked haddock were excellent. Venison loin was incredibly tasty and finished with orange sponge with sauce and ice cream. Delicious. All washed down with a glass of red. Service was great although we did have to ask for the music to be turned down a little (not really a gripe though) A very good menu and a great place to eat.

My favorite restaurant in Edinburgh so far. Great atmosphere with natural objects on shelves along the walls, dim lighting but LED candles on every table. Cocktails were excellent - I’ll make the Sunset Old Fashioned when I get home. Service was awesome without being intrusive. Started with the haggis and an order of onion rings; then lamb rump and pan roasted salmon - both delicious but the best dish of all was the Chocolate Cremeux - it was outstanding!

All staff were welcoming and attentive. Haggis was unreal, best I’ve ever had. Atmosphere was perfect. Design of restaurant, from furniture to font choices of the menu were perfect. 100/10

Early dinner Sunday night - mains seemed to have more fish choices than on our previous visits (unfortunately we were 15 minutes late to get roast beef- stops at 5pm) Our Portuguese waiter was lovely but female manager overly brusque

The meal was terrific and the haggis was outstanding. The ambience was lovely; located just steps away from the Royal Mile, but it felt like miles away from all the crowds! A wonderful evening.
