Monteiths bar & restaurant is nestled in a fairy-lit close in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. The award winning venue is located just off the historic Royal Mile and combines chic cocktail bar with intimate restaurant. A favourite of locals and visitors alike, Monteiths is a must for relaxed dining and innovative cocktails.

Monteiths is by the team behind the White Horse Oyster Bar, and Chop House

Due to licensing restrictions Monteiths cannot accept children under the age of 5 at any time. Children aged 15 & under can be admitted until 10pm. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Our first night in Edinburgh our party of 6 ate at Monteith’s. We loved the food and cocktails, especially the the Heather Honey Old Fashions, the Haggis, the scallops and the salmon. Our waiter, Roque and the manager, Matthew, gave us wonderful suggestions and were full of good humor. The atmosphere is also lovely. A memorable kick off to our Scottish/ Irish trip!

We sat at the bar as it was a last minute booking. The bartender was very helpful and friendly. We had the haggis as an appetizer. It was amazing. I had veal as a mains and really enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

We have been many times and always loved it however came with a voucher this time and were disappointed. The drinks were slow and my Husband's steak was overdone. The waiter told him it was fine and he was wrong. So rude!! Not the place is used to be.

Nice place, good service but the food left a lot to be desired. Starters were tasty enough but weren’t very warm although we didn’t mention that at the time so really shouldn’t complain about it now, £5 supplement for the fillet steak which was average but I didn’t get the need for the big marrowbone on the plate, it was quite off putting, one square of fried potato and gravy looked quite sad! I also thought the 12.5% service charge was a bit cheeky although as I said before the service was good and the staff were nice. I wouldn’t recommend or return!

While the food lived up to expectations and rave reviews heard from others, service was abysmal with multiple orders forgotten, significant delays, and absent staff. Service team never checked on the table aside from initial orders and cocktails took 30 mins to deliver. Overall rather disappointing.

Fabulous Sunday roast. Elder son (an aficionado) declared it’s the best in Edinburgh!

A very nice dinner! We enjoyed the starters and mains. Menu is more limited then I remember but it may of been due to the fact less items seemed exciting to me. They use fresh, local, ingredients and prepare them simply, and properly. Very fresh, and reflective of the local market Go here, you'll like it!
