Like its Southern California namesake, Montecito combines a casual elegance with effortless sophistication in the heart of Toronto’s Entertainment District. Our two-storey dining room, lounge and outdoor patio is located steps away from Film Festival Headquarters at TIFF Bell Lightbox. While our Farm-to-Table menu highlights various purveyors from across Canada and changes weekly based on seasonal availability.
Have you Discovered Montecito?
Mother’s Day celebration but no special greeting by staff. Service was slow despite restaurant being only 30% full. Kale salad was very good but pear salad was underwhelming. Had to request bread with appetizers. Pork chop was very good but vegetables were undercooked. Beet ravioli lacked substance and depth of flavour while the portion size was undersized for a main course.
Went there for a Mother’s Day dinner. The service was excellent. The menu was not too large but a good variety to suit everyone’s needs. Nice selection of appetizers, pizza, pasta (made in house) and a selection of mains consisting of fish, poultry, and meat. I would like to go back and try the pizza and the pasta. The beet ravioli sounded delicious. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers we shared and their mains. I would definitely go back.
Celebrated our engagement and our waitress brought us some champagne right at the beginning. That was a very nice gesture.
I love the concept - farm to table, everything on the menu from Canadian farmers! But unfortunately, I don't understand why on earth they would serve me a pork chop so thick that I could barely get my knife through it - let alone my teeth. Literally my plate was wandering around the table from the sheer force of me trying to slice this pork chop. It looked beautiful - but had little to no flavour. The cauliflower on my plate was interesting and exciting and delicious - how could the same restaurant that can do that to cauliflower fail so spectacularly to make a pork chop? Similarly, Look I get that it's all canadian stuff so you had to serve canola oil on your burrata instead of olive oil. But it brought literally nothing. No taste. All I could taste.... ALL I could taste was the almost burnt toast that accompanied the burrata. Also why put the pear jam mixed in the salad? Why not leave me a nice little clump on the side to smear with the burrata and taste them together? Just some really confusing choices here. Look the atmosphere here was good, the service was really excellent, the food is really great in concept and it was fine to go before heading off to a show. But for that price and those premium ingredients I had hoped the food would be better than "fine".
Renee and shadow server were extremely attentive and helpful. She made a couple of suggestions for drink and food which and were all excellent. Trout and duck entrees were so tasty. Surprised that our anniversary was acknowledged during dessert. We had theatre tickets and Renee was very mindful of our timing . Thank you for a great evening..will definitely be back.
I really enjoyed Montecito, the service was excellent and the food was very good. I had the kale salad it was amazing and I loved the pear and blue cheese pizza. The layout is very nice and cozy
Montecito could be such a good restaurant; the service is good and the space is beautiful, except it falls short when it comes to food. This was my third time visiting the restaurant and for the third time I was wholly let down by my bland lamb shank and undercooked root vegetables. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless they are looking to take advantage of some of the good wine deals they have.
consistent food - great location - service usually ok but this last visit was not on par
Fantastic restaurant. Wonderful food, great staff, lovely ambiance
Good food the staff really pulls together as a team for good service.
It was great overall. We loved our food and waitress. However, because of a big event, our food came too late, around an hour.
Food was good and service was attentive but we had such a long wait between appetizers and main dishes that made the dinner less enjoyable.
Very good food, good service, nice ambiance, appreciated not having blaring music.
We did find the wine list pretty pricey.
This was our first time at Montecito, but it won't be our last. We were going to the theatre so we were under some time constraint. Our server, who was very professional and friendly, said, no problem, we'll ensure you enjoy your meal and make it to the theatre on time. The restaurant was spacious and very comfortable, the food was excellent and the service exceptional. I would highly recommend Montecito.
Great place. Fantastic service.
Just dissapointed about the food. Two of the three sides we ordered were a fail. The mushroom were terribly salty. Just takes one dish like that to ruin most mouthfuls of a meal, and the duck cabbage, regreted that too. At 12$ Each, it hurt. Unfortunately, i dont think i will return though i love that place, its too expensive to risk another fail. Boo.
Great time. Perfect environment
A good treat yourself meal! The food is fresh, the cocktails are strong and they are very mindful of any time constraints you may be under (shows etc). The complimentary coat check is a nice touch as well as the gender neutral private washrooms.
Went to Montecito on a Friday night for the oyster special. Made reservations for 8pm and we were seated in the lounge but was told it was last call for oysters. Well our waiter didn't come see us quick enough to even order and we didn't make last call and didn't get any oysters. There was only one waiter in the lounge considering it was pretty busy. Montecito shouldn't really advertise $1 oysters starting at 5pm with no end time when there is actually an end time. It was false advertisement and we were disappointed as we specifically went there just for the oysters. We ordered the tartare and the pork belly appetizer instead. Tartare was delicious. Chips that came with it were made fresh and were nice and crisp.
We went for a pre-show meal. The waitress asked when we arrived if we were seeing a show and told us she would have us out at a specific time. We walked out at exactly the right time. We both had the duck which was perfectly cooked. Everything else was very good, the meatballs, craft beer selection, gluten-free dessert. I would absolutely go back.
Montecito is an excellent place for a date night. the atmosphere and service are excellent. and the menu is great. the food was very good and the portions are quite large.
Interior was lovely but food was quite salty.
Service also was somewhat slow. Worst part was that it was a special occasion which I had indicated online but it was disregarded and ignored
We had been here for Easter Brunch back in 2016. The menu was the same and somehow seemed sparser this year 2019. Not a great selection for the money.
Friendly attentive staff.
Amazing food and service!
Great for lunch !
Fairly average all round. App's were good, but the mains fell flat with beef that was crazy tough, and average pasts.
Went for dinner with friends, the service was friendly and efficient. Started with buck a shuck oysters and Prosecco which were both great.
The striploin was over-cooked, which disappointed considering the $38 price tag.
Overall, I wouldn’t go back for dinner based on the price and final food quality. Drinks for sure as the atmosphere was good and the service at the bar was great.
We really enjoyed eating here. The menu was good, and they were happy to help me with my very restricted diet.
My 30+ dollar steak was vey overcooked and the music was terrible (top 40 radio naise) and too loud. Wait staff was nice.
Amazing food, great service, lovely vibe. Highly recommend it!
Food was good, but not great.
Alcohol was expensive, even for downtown.
Service was attentive
Overall a decent place, but no better or worse than any number of similar restaurants downtown.
Portion control is a thing, of course, but paying $14 for a single small piece of toast with a tiny bit of topping is not good. Presenting it as an entree is outrageous. It's an appetizer at best. There are very few options, and although the staff was nice and all, I can't recommend the place.
Mix of good and not so good. Fried chicken was amongst the driest I ever had. Potatoes with pecorino and rosemary were excellent. Tuna was excellent. Burger was very good.
Fantastic food and service. Great location and decor. Highly recommend. Delicious upscale food in a great atmosphere.
Terrible experience, non existent service,, 30 minutes wait between appetizers and mains, and when the pasta arrived it was cold,
Great food. Sommelier was too notch.
Excellent buck-a-shuck oysters on Friday night but note they're available only in the lounge. Delicious menu and superbly prepared and presented. We definitely plan to go back as there were several things on the menu that I still want to try. Recommended!
A bit pricey for what you get. The Montecito chicken and kale appetizers are great on their menu. If they ever have lamb kebabs those are amazing too.
The service was outstanding and we appreciated the special prelunch savoury dish. The gnocchi were fabulous but the beet ravioli were undercooked and outer portions needed to be cut off. The sauce was too greasy as well. Great coffee.
Renee (?) our Waiter was fantastic. She was very hospitable - the exact right amount of attention and conversation and the service was excellent.
Very cold inside / drafty
Had to keep my winter coat on the entire meal
