Like its Southern California namesake, Montecito combines a casual elegance with effortless sophistication in the heart of Toronto’s Entertainment District. Our two-storey dining room, lounge and outdoor patio is located steps away from Film Festival Headquarters at TIFF Bell Lightbox. While our Farm-to-Table menu highlights various purveyors from across Canada and changes weekly based on seasonal availability.
Have you Discovered Montecito?
Loved the Fogo Island Cod cake & Endive salad. Even more pivot to provide additional gluten & dairy free options always appreciated!
All staff made sure to please. I will definitely return and recommend to others.
Server was excellent.
After TIFF film. Service was amazing
Nice evening, great service and food!! Thank you
To be honest, the food was just okay, my husband and I both had pastas and I still regret not sending mine back or saying something.
Our server was great! We went for our anniversary dinner. It was a quiet Saturday night at the restaurant, almost seemed empty (7:30pm-10pm).
I'd go back for drinks, as they had a nice cocktail list, but likely not for food.
I would not recommend this place. The food was terrible. We were starving after our meal. They didn’t update the menu on their website so of course I was disappointed to learn they changed their menu after we arrived. We also specifically went there for the second floor only to learn it’s only opened Thursday-Sunday. The staff was great and very accommodating but the food was terrible.
The salad was too salty, server forgot an order all together and the pasta dish had clumpy noodles and was so spicy that it left us sweating! We are used to eating spicy food and it was still too much.... very disappointed second visit.
Very pricey but mostly very good food and cocktails, aside from some very questionable menu items (uncooked shrimp in a pasta?) overall a nice experience if you are willing to spend
Tried two fish dishes. Neither were great. One was halibut on a buttery mess of unappetizing "harvest vegetables" which were leafy greens without leaves... more like twigs. The cod had beans which were barely cooked. The pita and hummus appetizer was the best part of our meal. Good service and ambiance however.
Great ambiance for a Wednesday patio session with the girls. All staff were attentive, super friendly and personable. Throw in half priced wine bottles and appetizers, it was a great evening to catch up in style. Food input: The charcuterie board is devine!! Otherwise the group agreed the ribs were a bit dry and the shrimp a bit mushy. Near perfect.
This was my first time coming here and it was amazing, I also took a date here and she was in love with the place. The server was amazing and saw the nerves of the first date. She walked us through the menu and gave us amazing recommendations! Lovely place
Love the menu here.
Food was exceptional. Staff is professional and friendly. Highly recommend it.
Absolutely the best service we've had this year of any restaurant we've been to. The evening started with a personalized menu for our anniversary - the perfect way to start our experience at Montecito. We went upstairs to By The Glass while we waiting for our reservation (we were half an hour early), and were so very pleased with Terry's knowledge of wines and food pairings. Next, we were seated downstairs in a booth and the first thing we noticed was the thought that went into the decor. We heard rumors of an upcoming reno but would be just as happy if it were all to stay the same. The seating arrangements are well laid out and each table feels like an intimate setting. The floor manager and staff are absolutely wonderful. They were all very thoughtful and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our visit. We felt like VIPs the entire time and very much appreciated it. Thank you so very much. -A+R
Amazing place! Will definately be back for our 5th Wedding Anniversary!
Kale salad & margherita pizza to split - loved both!!!
Celebrated an Anniversary and a Birthday! Happy we chose this restaurant. Thanks!
Food was excellent, service very good. It is a bit noise hard to have a conversation
There was only one server during lunch, we had to specify things repeatedly. A table of 6 got 2 slices of burnt toast with the burrata. We asked for lemon for the table & got two slivers. Food was good, the montecito chicken is delicious of course. The salad with it was lame, no effort put into it. Inconsistent in food
Ambiance is great
I went with a family member who has a number of food allergies and they were able to accommodate. Amazing service and great food!
This place was a treat and pleasure to go to. Great food, great service and loved how everyone of the staff works well together.
Excellent food, good drinks. Smaller portions but satisfying dishes. Recommend.
Great service, location and food
Food and service were great. Great location especially if going to a play.
We dined in the wine bar, seated at a table with a great street view. It was a fantastic experience - the food was really good, the wine was great and the staff was extremely knowledgable, interesting and engaging. We will definitely go back.
Had to wait for a while but the food was excellent . Server was great
Laura our waitress was lovely and helpful .
The tuna appetizer was too salty - better w lots of fresh lime juice... The trout was excellent- nice and crispy and flavourful but it was served in a "broth" ....making it and the lovely " crispy roti potatoes -soggy ....
Great evening. I had put a note with my reservation that I was celebrating my anniversary and engagement with my fiancée. When I arrived, the hostess was aware of this, congratulated us, and brought us to a great table in the corner. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered a bottle of the 2013 two sisters cab merlot, the striploin and the lamb with the tuna as an appetizer. Everything was delicious. After our meals, our server informed us that we can sit on the patio and finish our wine if we’d like. We did and it was a perfect finish to our evening. Would definitely come back again. Prices are quite reasonable, and locations is great.
A lovely interesting menu. Farm to table style and nice choice for most palates. I would call the cuisine Nuvo California. The kale salad was a super switch up to a traditional Caesar. I had the cod and my companion the duck. Both lovely. The meal was slow but that is okay if you plan the time before theater. When the restaurant got busier our waiter was tough to catch. Our only comment was the music was way to loud and if the restaurant were full it would be very difficult to talk. We miss soft surfaces like table cloths and carpet to lower the noise. If you want a more intimate dinner, ask for a table in the bar.
Overall good - not very busy for a 12pm lunch!
Great farm to table restaurant! Great service!
Unfortunately the kitchen was very slow. Waited close to 30 minutes for the entrees to arrive. When they did the kitchen did not listen on how the lamb dish was to be prepared and it had to go back. Server was very nice and worked to compensate with providing a free entree and desert.
Sound system was unnecessarily too loud for a 2/3 empty dining room.
Friendly staff. Fabulous food. Excellent Service. A place worth visiting again.
Disappointed by the steak since was amazing when went 6 months ago. This time they butterfly our steaks. Not sure why. One side was well done and the other under cooked for what was ordered. Did not complain but inquired about it. Service staff did not pick up on my dislike. Service was fine but not special. Found prices inflated, especially for glass of wine. Prices didnt match quality of wine or steak. Bread was quite nice and i liked the bar area which was quite bright with natural light.
I decided to bring a client to the restaurant...Unfortunately, the food was not very good this time. The schnitzel was way to fatty, the Montecito chicken with the arugula was oily and the arugula was completely drenched with oil. Usually the meals are great, this was not my best experience. I will likely return as i hope this was just an isolated experience.
Father's day - no. Communication that there was no brunch buffet.
The waiter took back the salt and pepper shakers !!! And the place was huge and empty on a Saturday night !
If thoughts of schnitzel at the Hotel Sacher come to mind when you see it on the menu at Montecito...forget it, it doesn’t come close!
