Great food and ambiance, but the real deal maker was our outstanding server, Joe. He was so nice and accommodating. We were dining with little ones and he was wonderful with them!

Too crowded. Huge noise. Hard to talk with seat mate. Service very slow and kept changing the waitstaff. Food poor at best. No Mexican would ever eat the yellowtail seviche. Mussels were so mushy they appeared to have been frozen and refrozen. Didn't eat. The new owner should clean up his act. Otherwise, the loyal local patrons who have supported Montauk for many years will go elsewhere leaving him no option but to shut down in shoulder seasons.

Excellent food and service. With chef change has come a much easier menu to order from.
Everyone enjoyed their selections and the server was excellent.
The “Montaco” and lobster rolls sliders appetizers were outstanding. The calamari appetizer was very good and the raw oysters excellent.
Our entrees included scallops, seared tuna, Dungeness crab and Cobia, all of which fresh, well prepared and nicely presented.

Had the golden tile fish. Thank you Chef for even knowing what golden tile fish is! Great pick and preparation was the bomb. I even had to come back two nights later for the Sheep head! Thank god I did!

The service was great and the seafood entres were delicious. The inside noise level was a bit high but the Resturant was quite full. My husband and I make this a must stop when dining in Vail.

We love Montauk. We go here at least once every time we travel to Vail/Beaver Creek for skiing. The food is excellent and the wine list is extensive. One of our favorite restaurants in Vail.

As an introduction to my review, I’d like to state that it was my father’s birthday and we’ve been going to Montauk for as long as I can remember coming to Vail. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had at Montauk as our entrees took an hour and fifteen minutes to be delivered to the table after ordering. Our waitress was nice and the service started out fine; although the cocktails still took longer thank expected coming from a restaurant of this stature and price point. Once the entrees came I’d say that the quality of the food was subpar at best; again for the price point and reputation of this establishment.

We ended up skipping dessert because of the performance of the kitchen, and additionally my children were exhausted at that point. Other tables were experiencing the same issue.

To conclude, the manager ended up discounting our check generously which we appreciated but would’ve still rather paid full price for the Experience! I will be back as I’ve had more good experiences than bad.

When you change ownership and keep the same name you should basically have about everything you had before. I have heard numerous people say including myself you don’t have this anymore .

Menu really has been cut back, only 4 seafood entrees. Salmon, redsnapper, tuna-these are available a most any valley restaurant- a specialty seafood restaurant?
Seafood used to be multiple pages, now a half page.
Food is ok, nothing special.
Wine list is the only standout.

This is a really great spot. Casual but purposely appointed to look like a nice east coast seafood restaurant. Service was attentive, food was very good and seafood was fresh (the wonders of supply chain and modern refrigeration), portions appropriate and wine list was complete. It's hard not to call it pricey, but when considering it is located in Lionshead in Vail and specializes in fresh seafood, prices seems as expected. We will go back and recommend to others.

The first steak I received was cold. Not the least bit warm. The second steak was good. In the good restaurants I frequent, the server stops by to ask about your meal. That didn’t happen. In fact, after Teva took our order, I didn’t see him until he brought the check. I believe, that when your spending $45/entre and $20/glass of wine, some service should be provided.
