We are a short walk from the Lionshead Parking Structure. Parking is free after 3 p.m.
Simply, park in the structure, head West through the main entrance of Lionshead Square. Walk to the corner, turn right and then, left. We are on your right, next door to Bart and Yeti’s. Across from Patagonia, under the iron arches.
We are a short walk from two local bus stops which are accessible via the Intown bus or the West Vail Green and Red buses.
When coming from the west, get off on the Lionshead/Concert Hall Plaza stop. From the east, get off on the main Lionshead stop.

Great family dinner at Montauk. Appetizers were fantastic. Ceviche and Montaco's were my favorite. The handmade cocktails were great. Erin made an off the menu martini that I'll definitely go back for! The Miso Red Snapper was incredible!! I absolutely recommend this entree to everyone. Great atmosphere and we really love the updates the new owner made. 5 stars from me.
Opened under new owners! Food is excellent, excellent service. Menu has many delicious choices - will have to return to experience them all. Fabulous creative children’s menu. Good luck to new owner - they deserve it for creating a new exciting restaurant in the Vail Valley.
Not a good experience. We were celebrating our 15 year anniversary. When we walked in I told them I had a reservation and the host seemed surprised and responded with, "I'm not answering the phone since tonight is our last night open". I almost left at that point concerned that the food wouldn't be fresh and the service would be poor. Our server was good but the meals were terrible and the host did not make us feel welcome. I get that it was the last night before shutting down for "remodeling" and if we went during the season our experience may have been different but based on our experience that specific night we wouldn't go here again nor would we recommend this restaurant to those we know personally. We ended up leaving after dinner to go have apps at another nearby restaurant.
We chose this place to celebrate my husband's birthday. The cocktails from the bar took so long to get to our table that the waiter felt inclined to state that the bartender was in training and not surprisingly, the drinks tasted as such. My husband and I took a chance on the crab legs, which was a bad decision. The crab legs were so over cooked that the meat was stringy and stuck to the shell. This place was not worth spending our time or money at.
Really great food and menu. Eat outside or close to a window if the weather permits. The service staff isn't as great as you would expect from an expensive place in Vail, but the food is fantastic. If you announce a special occasion, you may have to remind them. Twice. And they still may not care...
Beautiful night on their deck, Island creek and malpeqe oysters were great! I had the sesame glazed duck also really good half bone in duck slowly roasted perfectly tender. My friend had the salmon jambalaya also top notch. And a cheese tray for dessert.
Nice find in the middle of Lionshead!
My wife and I had a reservation for a Thursday night. When we arrived at 6 pm only one table was occupied. While we were there some other dinner guests came in, but overall the restaurant was pretty empty.
Our server was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Manhattan and New England clam chowder as appetizers. They were both very good and tasty. My wife had a Sirloin steak and I had the Ono as the main dishes. They were both excellent.
The problems started when we received the check. As far as I remembered the Ono was priced differently on the menu from what the check showed. I asked our waiter whether the price was correct and without checking he said that it was. Since I was not 100% sure I accepted his answer. When we left the restaurant I looked at the menu posted outside and it showed a different price. So I went back in, contacted the server who went outside to check. In the meantime also the hostess got involved and she and I looked into a menu and she agreed that the price they charged me was incorrect. She apologized and reran the check ( also taking off my soup which I appreciated). She said that the price in their computer system was incorrect. That explains the difference, but it also makes me wonder how thoroughly they check the prices on the menu and the computer system. Other than this we had a good dinner.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Vail. We have a second home in East Vail so are up there frequently and make a point of eating at Montauk regularly. The food is fresh and the variety never gets old. Especially like halibut during the season.
This has been a restaurant we have gone to on a number of occasions. Their array of seafood is excellent! I believe this evening the staff including the owner was rushed with some large tables. This did affect our overall service and the quality of the food. The fish was slightly overcooked. We will continue to schedule dinners at this restaurant when we visit the area. And expect the standards to be what they had been in the past.
When we arrived just after the Vail Jazz Fest performance, the young hostess was super rude. We had one extra person and were about 5 minutes late - she copped a serious attitude even though at least half the restaurant was empty, citing concerns about the kitchen. It was so weird, then she was concerned we were a few minutes late.
We decided to have cocktails and a selection of appetizers to share - and the cost and portion sizes of the appetizers was outrageously small. $18 for lobster mac and cheese which couldn't have been more than a few ounces. The calamari was marginal - kind of bready and just a basic sauce. Worst thing was I got sick from something we ate - perhaps the seafood wasn't as fresh as it should have been? We had the tuna appetizer which I think showed in the photo as seared, but it was more of a ceviche on crackers.
In any case, the service and hostess experience was marginal at best (two servers argued over who had our table to start with). The food was just OK and the price was VERY high for what we had. Not impressed - won't be back.
