Delicious food, friendly service, and a lively guitar player make for a great experience at the cozy Montalcino.
This was the most authentic Italian food we've ever had; it was absolutely outstanding! From the homemade pasta and breads to the live music on Saturday night and great customer service, it is sure to please. It is a small and intimate restaurant that is great for special occasions. It is on the pricier side, but worth every penny. We highly recommend it.
This was our second time and everything was just as perfect as our first visit. Can’t believe we were lucky enough to get same day reservations on a Saturday...lucky us! We will be back for sure :)
Quite possibly the best food I have eaten in the Unites states of America since my arrival
5 years ago. we have decided that it will be our restaurant of choice for our special occasions
with good friends and overseas quests
Great as always!
Montalcino can make even a mid-week dinner feel special. wonderful food.
The food was amazing as always. We ordered one of the recommended wines and it was perfect with our meal. I highly recommended Montalcino for a special occasion.
This was our first time to Montalcino and everything was great. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful and we enjoyed the entire evening. We are looking forward to our next visit!
Always predictably great food and service. Authentic and original Italian cuisine.
Always delicious! We love going here and savoring their food. Too much good stuff on that menu! Hard to choose from. The staff is good and I’m happy to say I have no outward complaints.
Definitely make a reservation if your going on a Saturday. There are about 10 tables total and they are packed in there.
The service was great. Lucy was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. There was one additional server and a floater that touched our table multiple times so we always had water, wine, and a clean table.
The cabernet by the glass wasn't my favorite. A bit sweet and didn't have that bold flavor like most cabs that I like.
The house made truffled pecorino was AMAZING - this was offered complimentary before our meal along with warm freshly baked bread. I ordered the frutti di mare and my husband had the wild boar parpardelle. Both were delicious. I appreciated that the frutti di mare was not heavy handed with garlic or sauce and the seafood was cooked properly, with the exception of the prawn which was overdone. The food took a reasonable amount of time to arrive from the kitchen (15-20 minutes). We were seated around the beginning of a turnover and I noticed after all the tables turned the other tables did have to wait a bit longer for their food.
We had the tiramisu for dessert. The cream/mascarpone filling was very light and fluffy. The lady fingers were properly soaked. I would have liked less cream, but that of course is just a preference. We were brought a small glass of sparkling dessert wine at the end of the meal.
There was live music and the gentleman made his rounds to each table and played for a while near the entrance.
Since the place is small and the tables are close to each other it does make it somewhat difficult to have a quiet date night. We were in a row of 2 tops and we were constantly hearing the wait staff, people talking on otherside of us, or the music.
Sat up front sharing bar with hostess station, but it’s a small place. The waitress kind of talks to you from behind. Other than that the food was fantastic as always. Just book your table well in advance.
A quaint family restaurant- took me back to our trip to Italy.
I have dined here at least 6 times in the last 2 years. The meals 2 years ago were fantastic but since then the quality of the food has gone down especially this last year. In addition, this most recent time, the portions were smaller. The price, however, remains high. The short rib RAVIOLI with only 1 small actual short rib cost $45.Dinner came to $166 for two with tax and 20% tip. The meal included 1 appetizer, 2 glasses of rose, two main courses and 1 dessert. The desserts are not that good there though the limoncello gelato, about 2/3 cup worth, we shared was tasty it cost $10.
The ambience and service, however, remain excellent. The complimentary bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil and home made dry cheese are a very nice touch that make you feel welcomed.
I will likely return as there are very few fine dining restaurants in that area.
Montalcino is truly a gem among local restaurants. With their background in the food and wine industry, the owners have created an authentic Italian dining experience in suburban Issaquah. Their cooking is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting.
Excellent in every way!! We have found our new restaurant for celebrations!! Highly recommend if you want a really good meal and service!!
The best Italian food I have had and lots of seafood options for the seafood lovers. Decided to not even bother making Italian style food at home anymore will just go to Montalcino for Italian food.
Our favorite restaurant nearby. The food, service, ambiance, and attention to detail are all fantastic. We have recommended this restaurant to a lot of acquaintances and they have all loved it too.
Wonderful Italian food, and some of the best seafood around. Great experience.
They never scrimp on the quality of the ingredients but the flavor is not very consistent although the range of variation is small - varies from good to outstanding. Some days it's just out of this world delicious.
The best Valentines Day experience possible. Love the guitar playing.
Best Italian restaurant ever. The food was amazing!!!
The best Italian meal outside of Tuscany! Love this place!!!
Outstanding food. We had their lobster ravioli w/2 lobster tails. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The management and service staff is very personable, highly professional and very attentive. This is a small romantic hideaway just off of Front Street on Alder. This is our all time favorite Italian restaurant.
Great food, and great service as always! Our guests loved the wine!
Another wonderful night eating here. The gorgonzola pasta was ahhhhhmazing as always. The gentleman who sang to us was sweet and incredibly talented. We loved it.
The menu has so many delicious choices, it is hard to chose just one. Would recommend making reservations well in advance. It is pricey but well worth the expense. The staff makes you feel like royalty. A truly fine dining experience.
The menu is interesting. The food was spectacular. The service is excellent.
We were early diners and were told that we had our table for 90 minutes. I didn't
like this as we like to linger over a glass of wine or coffee. However, I understand as the space is small and they need more sittings. Next time, I will book later and stay until closing!!!!
Highly recommend this place and will go back again!!!
The clear winner for this restaurant is the superb preparation of modern Italian cuisine. The service was friendly and prompt. It is rather a small place just off of Front Street in Issaquah. They managed to squeeze in a lot of tables comfortably into a small space. We were four people for dinner and everyone raved about their dinner. Really enjoyed their selection of by the glass Italian wines. It was definitely pricey but well worth the expense! We will definitely go again. We were also in a hurry to make a curtain and they were very accommodating.
Seriously one of the best meals I have had. We wandered in just looking for Italian in the area, and found a cozy place with live music. The food was wonderful from salad to dessert, and large portions. The short rib ravioli special was especially amazing. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Came back with family, and they were impressed even after we had talked it up.
Love, love this place, but can only go once or twice a year. Pretty speedy.
The food is amazing! The waitress was fine but all business and rushed us from the start to order our appetizer, wine and food. My only complaint is the way they schedule diners. We were there on Feb 2 a family of 6. We were aware of the time restraint on their reservations so I am not exactly complaining but we will re think going there with family and friends because we were rushed. We would have love to have desert , more wine and possible after dinner drinks . We realize that when you are having a wonderful meal and great conversation 1hour and 45 minutes just isn't enough time. It is really a shame because we would have continued to spend money in the restaurant. I had barely finished eating when they started collecting wine glasses.
Once again, had a wonderful experience, this time for my husband’s birthday. We love Montalcino’s!
Great service, food and ambience!
The food was amazing, as always. The staff is friendly!
This was the 5th or 6th time we have dined here. Each time the food and service have been outstanding. It is hard to pick a favorite entree as everything we've tried has been excellent. This has become one of our favorite restaurants on the Eastside.
Montalcino never fails to exceed expectation. Already a favorite for the truffle ravioli and the magnificent meatballs, tonight we went for the specials and were blown away. The short rib ravioli was a triumph: incredible flavor, depth and richness. The seafood pasta was also phenomenal, the perfect balance between delicate seafood and hearty pasta. It's always best to go with their own wine - the Sangiovese is our favorite.
Gem! Great food, great authentic live guitar, and romantic.
The food was delicious, the service was top notch, and the ambiance was amazing. We loved it, and they made our birthday girl feel very special .
Thx to Montalcino for decanting an Amarone for me before I arrived. Bruschetta is probably the best I’ve ever had. Quiet elegance was perfect for a business meal. My client raved about the lamb shank and said it was the meal he had ever had in a restaurant.
Can’t over describe this must-try restaurant.
