Montalcino Ristorante Italiano
Daily 4:30 pm–11:00 pm
Best food I have had in years :) atmosphere was perfect and the mushroom ravioli was to die for!!!
Intimate restaurant with outstanding food and service.
The ambience is very cozy and quaint, the menu includes an interesting variety, and the food was well prepared. The wine list is lacking if you’re looking for a Northwest wine but our server suggested an excellent Italian red blend. We enjoyed the meal and will go back. However, the space is cramped and tables are way too small to comfortably accommodate serving dishes the size of a 747 plus wine glasses and water glasses. We went on a Sunday and there was a singer belting out opera and other songs with abandon. In the small space it was deafening and made conversation challenging. The server also denied what we thought was a pretty modest request for a revision to one entree— something other restaurants have agreed to without question. So a few demerits but not enough to keep me from going back for the wild boar ravioli with truffle sauce I coveted from my neighbor’s plate from afar.
Awesome service, big portions. Terrific food. Wow
We enjoyed beautiful food beautifully presented. Service was over the top. The tiny space is well set up and very intimate - I was surprised that it felt so private and cozy when I consider how close our neighbors were actually sitting.
The price tag was a bit more than expected, so this will remain a 'special occasion' vs 'new fave' dining choice.
Good always great but very expensive. Our waitress was not friendly.
delicious Italian food, with NW fresh ingredients. Incredible menu and service. Appreciated attentive wait staff. Loved Burrata Cheese and tomato appetizer and halibut special. lovely birthday desert plate and presentation. Only complaint would be roving guitar player was a little loud and off key. Food was excellent!
We have enjoyed this restaurant several times during trips to the area to visit family. Food at Montalcino is excellent with outstanding menu items and specials. Prices, while higher than other local restaurants, reflects the quality of the food and it’s preparation. Seating is limited and restaurant works to turn it’s tables twice an evening. Website lists seatings as two hours long and you have ability to pick times at half hour marks. Our mid week reservation was at 6pm and restaurant was full with exception of our reserved table. Our meal was rushed with each course coming out immediately after finishing the previous course. Total time one hour nine minutes from seating to exit with wine, appetizer, salad, main, and desert. Restaurant was almost empty when we left as staff worked to reset all the tables. It felt as we were being pushed out and took last sip of wine as we stood to leave. Never have experienced this before in a higher end restaurant with per person spend of $80 - $100.
To thoroughly enjoy this restaurant you will need to reserve either the earliest reservation possible or the start of what looks to be the second seating around 7:30pm.
We went for our anniversary. We were given special treatment because of our special day. The food was very good, but too pricey for us to go there more often. We were given a gift card. Thankful we had the opportunity.
Love this place! It was our second visit and we'll continue to be back. Delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. Don't forget a bottle of the Brunello!
Always fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any nice evening on the town or special occasion.
Found this through OpenTable, wouldn't have known about it otherwise, what a hidden gem! Small, intimate, high quality, welcoming atmosphere.
The food is superb, and the service is always on point.
Always enjoy the quality, and variety, of Italian dishes that are served here. Makes it easy to agree on the place we want to go to for dinner.
Always delicious Italian food. We have been to Montalcino multiple times. We both had the seafood pasta special. We noticed on a previous visit, the lobster tail was smaller. We were in for such a surprise as our entrée each had two tails!!!! We celebrated our 43rd anniversary. We were given complimentary prosecco and there was a lovely red rose on our table. Altho quaint, the addition of some accent lighting would improve the ambience.
Again....the best Italian Restaurant on the Eastside.
The ambiance and service were nice. Waitstaff are very pleasant and welcoming. We were seated just in front of the entrance, which would have been fine if not for the occasionally held-open front door — and the wide-open view of the porcelain bowl every time someone went in or out of the toilet. Bit of a buzzkill for a romantic meal.
The food was not outstanding. We were pleasantly upsold on an entree and a bottle of wine: the wine was fine, the pasta was overdone. We neglected to ask the prices ($55 for lobster pasta, $80 for the bottle), which would have deterred us from ordering them both. I feel such prices should be announced with the dish/bottle. Our other entree - the mixed grill - was of mixed quality: tasty sauce, great lamb, interesting sausage and rubbery chicken.
The menu was extensive & the food delicious when it arrived. The service was excellent& the ambience warm & cozy which was wonderful because as usual with the Puget Sound region the traffic getting there was awful. The owner did call the day before to let us know that the traffic can be horrid so to give ourselves extra travel time. That really helped.
There were some special surprises such as wine made from the family vineyards in Italy & a special cheese made by the owners wife. We'll definitely be going back, traffic & all.
Gracious service and authentic, magnificent food. Like taking a mini-trip to Tuscany.
Best Italian on the Eastside, if not Seattle. Outstanding food and service. Very small and intimate. Roaming guitarist is often there as well. A great experience.
Amazing food and beautiful, although small space. Not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for and it’s worth it! Special occasions would be spent well here! Make reservations early. They fill up fast!
Fantastic! We had a wonderful evening, great food and spectacular service.
Always amazing! Food and service is always 5 stars! Great for special occasions but book early they fill up fast!
Best Italian restaurant we’ve ever been to.
Great food not very Italian to be rushed for dinner we were told we had to be done in 90 minuets not enough time enjoy a nice meal.
Celebrating a birthday!!!
We arrived early and were immediately seated. Shortly after we were informed of the specials and given time to make our dining choices. The service and meal were excellent!
The best seafood pasta. Everything is so delicious.
This is by far the best Italian restaurant west of New York, and there have been many including all in the Seattle area. The food is authentic, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the menu spectacular. It’s hard to get reservations, but well worth it. We will go back many times, I’m sure.
Come here for most special occasions. Great vibe, great food, great service.
This restaurant is amazing. We have been here twice and Fernando and the staff are delightful. The food is authentic Italian and the family estate wines from Montalcino are awesome! It is an intimate setting and I highly recommend Montalcino Ristorante Italiano!!
A special restaurant with authentic and delicious Italian food...equal too and even better than my Mom's.
We love finding small locally owned restaurants vs big chain stores. This one was a great find! It’s very very small but that adds to ambiance. Great Italian food, extensive wine list, and even better desserts. Definitely try the tiramisu, it’s amazing and according to the owner an old family recipe. We will be back next time we are in the area.
The menu has several good options on it to cover seafood lovers, vegetarians and Italian food lovers. The off menu specials are phenomenal. The service is friendly, fast and non-obtrusive. Will be going back to try other menu options in the future.
We love coming here for special occasions. They never disappoint
We finally got a chance to try Montalcino. We went for my husband's Birthday. Service and food was exceptional. We will definitely will be back soon.
As always, a wonderful experience. Love everything about this restaurant.
As an Italian-American this is one restaurant I'm never embarrassed to take my Italian family too. The food is authentic, fabulous and in all the dozens of times I've been there I've never been disappointed! My latest favorite is the homemade short rib ravioli the sauce is smooth and amazing.
This restaurant is easily the best Italian restaurant in the region. It is expensive but most definitely worth it! Everything here is great. I have yet to have anything I didn’t like. You will not be disappointed.
We love coming here for special occasions. It is a small intimate restaurant so reservations are a must. This time we came for a birthday and upon arrival to the table there was a Birthday card waiting. There is a entertainer who plays a guitar and sings mostly Italian songs but also does requests. Our waitress put a red sequined hat on our Birthday girl and then the entertainer came over and had us sing Happy Birthday in Italian. A complimentary ice cream encased in chocolate with Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce on the plate completed the meal. ...And everyone loved the food too!!
