My wife and I had not eaten out in a long time. Trying Montalcino was an excellent way to end the lock down.
Even in the midst of a pandemic Montalcino is still a wonderful restaurant. Perfect for a date night or in our case an Anniversary.
Very very good! From start to finish; you won’t be disappointed!
we felt very rushed, which i get in order to keep the rotation, but there should be a sign that states, you have 60 min, or 75 minutes, or 90 min to dine in our restaurant.
Enjoyable outdoor dining - fun, windy night. We will be back soon!
I only rated down for ambiance because we were seated outside and it was a cool night. But this is my favorite restaurant and Rick and his team go above and beyond.
The food is always great, and the service too. Love the outside dining option as well.
Great safe outdoor fine dining! We’ve always loved this spot as one of Issaquah’s finest places to gather.
Amazing across the board!! Food was outstanding & portions generous.
Great place with delicious food
Montalcino never fails.
Food is a 10, every time. Ambience is almost always a 10, though in past visits, the guitarist was a bit over the top. Interior is small and intimate, like old-world Italy. Service was good though just a small notch below their usual exquisite level, on this visit, but I think the craziness of this COVID BS is a challenge for restaurants to desk with. You can certainly spend less around here for a nice dinner but you won’t find better food and a better overall experience, in my book.
Go. Soon. You’ll be glad you did.
We go to Montalcino for any special occasion. The food is wonderful and the service impeccable.
Great food and atmosphere! Will be back!
Love this restaurant! It’s one of our favorite date night spots.
The wine was overly price for sure!
Pasta with meatballs is my favorite. Very tender and flavorful.
Moving out of state and wanted to visit our favorite restaurant before we left. Excellent as always. We will be back when I’m town.
Meal was great, our server was great, however I was not informed when making the reservation that we would be seated outside on a cool night, I was therefore not prepared with a warm coat.
Loved your food but really feel we were taken advantage of after seeing over half my lobster gone and getting our order forgotten. I know we all make mistakes but. to bring out dessert and check before entrees and not really acknowledge it with some type of compensation is ridiculous. I had no problem with the prices when the quality is there. I ordered the lobster saffron before so I know what it previously looked and tasted like. It still was good but a ¼ of the meat was only served in the shell. What happened.?
The best Italian food around. Always looking forward to going back again. Delizioso!!!
Excellent food, good distance in outdoor seating, great service
We were quickly seated at an outside table, under cover. The service was quick and the food was delicious. I had the tortellini and my wife had the special - lobster ravioli. Outstanding!
Always a fantastic experience. It's our go to place.
We had the most amazing meal last night at Montalcino, I think we may have been teleported directly to Italy! From the food, to the wine selection, incredible service and ambiance everything was perfect. All entrees sounded absolutely delicious, we had a hard time choosing. Montalcino is a must visit if you want authentic Italian food. It was pouring rain outside and our server didn’t skip a beat. Our food was delivered within minutes of ordering. Top top notch!! We will DEFINITELY be back
Female that was checking us in gave our table to regulars and tried to seat us outside without cover. She was quite rude advising that we did not request inside despite the website telling me that was the only seating I could get. Was my daughter’s birthday and we had planned the night for some time. The gentleman accommodated us but it was a bit uncomfortable I have to argue for a table. Food was great
Excellent food and service as always!!
Overall a great experience we were seated outside and when it started to rain we were told there was nothing they could do but they quickly fixed
Food was very good
Came here with my husband and my sisters family which included a 2 year old. They put us in a semi-private area to help accommodate the small child which was great. The food was excellent and the manager came by our table twice to check in and actually walked outside to catch us and say goodbye and thank you for stopping in. We will be back!
Incredibly quaint and genuine. Flawless execution of every menu item. Closest thing in the Seattle area to an actual Tuscan trattoria.
Rick and Riesa have done a fabulous job with this restaurant. Everything was wonderful!
we haven't eaten out much in recent times with the virus.
Montalcino felt like a very safe space. plenty of distance.
So enjoyed our experience at Monticello's . Outdoor dining is wonderful and as always the food was excellent.
Thank you so much for you kind review!
Our experience was phenomenal, despite them running drastically behind on seating us and getting our food out, our experience was fantastic. This will be one of our staple restaurants on the Eastside. The owners were very sympathetic and understanding of the situation they were in and did a great job of helping their staff save the evening. The food, once we got it was off the charts, amazing. This restaurant is one of the few Eastside restaurant gems.
Tough times for restaurant so I'm trying to be kind with 3 stars. The hostess who is subbing from her day job is the standout for friendly outgoing service that makes you feel at home. Our server was robotic (with a mask on some effort has to made with hand gestures and eyes- see hostess for training) and never checked on us after we ordered. The runner did all the work. The food was just okay as wild boar pasta had one piece of boar that we could see and halibut was nice but over-salted for my taste. The wine list is interesting as it has almost more on the Captain's List than the under $100 bottles (usual 2.5% markup). Regarding the server; yes she was busy and during this time staff is limited; however, she walked by our table a number of times and never once checked in on us about the food. Really no excuse. The owner was walking around too but did not touch tables for the most part. Only with regulars. Sorry to have to post a bad review in these times but come on really, you finally get diners and then you ignore them?
We are truly sorry you did not receive the traditional impeccable service and award winning cuisine we are known for. We have changed how we handle service during COVID due to the Governors strong recommendation to not touch the tables as much as we would during more normal times. However, we do still try to touch the tables even in limited capacity. We obviously did a poor job that night. We would love to have you back to show you that we do appreciate all guests, regulars and new alike.
At these prices you expect exceptional service and mouthfuls to savor. The service was friendly, but not special. My water glass was never filled, our empty plates were on the table for about 15+ minutes before we were asked if we wanted dessert, etc. The scallop/prawn appetizer was a disappointment because the scallops were undercooked. Everything else tasted good and fresh, but nothing stood out. Also, I would have preferred the dishes cost half as much and be 1/3 the size so you could have a multi-course meal. The quantity of each dish was too much to do that. It just didn't feel like "fine dining".
We are truly sorry you did not enjoy your evening with us. Our goal is always to leave each guest satiated and satisfied. We have changed how we handle service during COVID due to the Governors strong recommendation to not touch the tables as much as we would during more normal times. However, we should have filled up your water glasses and checked on you so that you might have been able to share your disappointment prior to leaving. We hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you.
A lovely night of outdoor dining! Great service, AMAZINGLY tender mushroom ravioli with wild boar, fine desserts, and even a decaf espresso & Lambrusco at the end.
The very tiny minus to our outdoor seating was the competing music from the venue next door. We chose to sit on that end of the space, before the music kicked in. Next time, sitting farther from Front street will be the golden ticket!
Thank you, we look forward to serving you again!
If you want a restaurant with actually great food, but treats you indifferently on your anniversary with a matre d who says Prosecco is on him and yet you still get charged after you order it - but you’d rather leave than question the bill because the overall attitude is more haughty than a group of luxury car salespeople who act like they invented the model and deserve all the credit and all you want to do to save your sanity is leave - then this place is awesome!
This is absolutely not the feeling we ever want any guest to leave with and we are so very sorry you did. I would love to remove the charge for the Prosecco, please call the restaurant and ask for Rick or Riesa and we will credit you back.
Love the Pollo gorgonzola, to DIE for!! Well, maybe I shouldn't say that given the COVID!!
We have been coming here for years, and this was the first time since CoVID shut everyone down. The on-street table was lovely - very good for Issaquah to have closed the narrow lane to traffic. The restaurant's menu is similar to what it was, perhaps not quite up to former excellence, and we learned the chef was the same but the ownership was relatively new. The big frustration was the service was soooo slow - it was about 2 hours before we left, having cancelled our entree orders because of multiple delays. Our waitress was doing her best, but had too many tables to cover. The place is at least one server short on a Friday evening - maybe 2. High quality Service used to be a hallmark of the previous owners, and, despite the new ones being very cheerful and welcoming, the start to finish timeline is too long. We hope they get the message - we'll be back to check it out but it gets only one more chance.
Thank you for your feedback. We could not agree more. This night was extremely busy and we were under staffed. Thankfully we have been able to bring back our other server and train two more. We truly hope that you will give us another try.
