Monsoon Indian Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
The quality of the food was outstanding but the service was lacking. Our server appeared to be new and didn't really know the menu. It took a while to get the yogurt sauce we ordered with the papadums and our entrees came without the basmati rice that was part of the meal. We had to ask for basmati rice after it was obvious that it wasn't coming and we only received one serving instead of one for each entrée. Aside from that the meal was enjoyable but the restaurant needs to train their servers better.
Food was amazing. Excellent variety and spiciness adjusted for our needs. There was no background music, so when the phone was ringing -- incessantly -- it was noticeable and annoying. Even the staff were complaining. Also, even though there were only a handful of tables, we waited over 20 minutes to get our food order was taken and another 25 with our take-home bag sitting prominently on the table before we got our check. The first two checks they gave us were for the wrong tables, but I finally just went to the register and the host found it.
So FOOD was thumbs up.
I use to love this place. I ordered tandoori chicken and asked for all thighs. The order came out with four drumsticks. When I asked the waiter who took the order he says same part of the leg right. I was so embarrassed - like I was making a big deal for nothing. I will probably never return.
We ordered three entrees for the table to share. They brought out one entree and after about 10 minutes, we asked them where the other two were. It took them another 5 minutes to bring the rest of the order. They brought an extra order of the first entree and charged us for it. We objected and the manager eventually took it off the bill, but was unpleasant about it.
My husband and I stumbled upon this local gem and we have made it a once monthly date-night or Sunday brunch spot because the food is delicious and authentic, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff is friendly, helpful and courteous, and we always end up ordering enough for leftovers the next day. A friendly word of warning: most of the dishes are at a very, very mild heat level of a 4-5. For those with an adventuresome spirit, you can request an increased spiciness level, but be prepared for an intense level of heat.
My husband and I have been there many times. Lately the food has not been nearly as good. They have changed chefs many times and this one is probably my least favorite. The dish that I almost always order was nothing like it usually is. I hardly ate any of it and didnt't take my leftovers. My husband said that he was giving the restaurant one more chance and that was it. We have been very dedicated customers to Monsoon since they opened, enough that I planned his 50th birthday celebration there. Not sure if we will return, which is sad.
The food isnt real fancy. From what I was told it's authentic Indian quinine. The deserts were not very aoetizing. The food wasn't priced very well. For a 16 dollar enter I wxsowcted either a bigger portion or more pizazz. Neither of which was provided. The nann bread has bits of charcoal on it. I thought at first it was from the cooking method. But it was definitely from an unclean cooking surface.
Consistently delicious - best Indian food in area. Very gracious owner and wait staff. We enjoy the tandoori wings, the tandoor entrees, chana masala, and chicken madras is awesome. First thought 1 to 10 spicey level when ordering is hokey (usually just say HOT), but we've grown to love it and have it dialed in now. Recommend only dialing up one or two dishes; 7 is formidable.
