   The food was beautifully prepared but very rich as French food tends to be. Problem is I wanted to try everything. The chicken entree dish was a piece of art and a joy to eat. I did not like the fact that we are charged 4 dollars for two pieces of "country " bread after spending $350 on dinner for two people. I suspect San Franciscans are used to this treatment not to forget to mention adding a 20 percent tip on the bill ....just as ridiculous.

   My parents were visited SF and we came to the restaurant before seeing Hamilton. We started off the meal with the duck pate which was exceptional and the French onion soup which was unremarkable. My steak was extremely disappointing. At $56 it definitely was not a 12oz cut of meat and I must have cut off at least two ounces of pure fat. Couple the steak with the dullest steak knives I’ve ever seen (no serrated edge), it was a very disappointing experience. My parents shared a fish dish which was supposed to be a gratine but instead appeared to be poached. The entre didn’t come with any sides which resulted in a very small portion overall. Mixed drinks were also half the size of a typical drink. Given the price / value relationship, I can’t think of a single reason to return given so many other options in the city.

   The star of the show was the excellent food. Croquettes were a great start. The main dish of the salmon served with an amazing tarragon Hollandaise was stellar. The gateau was an excellent choice for dessert and was served with the best cup of coffee I have had in awhile. Definitely worth the price.

   Third visit and seems the menu has changed a bit. Chef loves VERY complicated dishes where the main protein is not enough - Chef feels whatever it is needs shrimp or ham or something to be complete. It’s open for debate of this is enough or not. And PLEASE train the bartender to bartender. He does not know what he’s doing and should not be delivering random plates of food to tables as he did us. The main service is great and atmosphere very fun and highly charged in a good way.

   Astonishingly bad service and mediocre food for a high price. No wonder the restaurant was pretty empty for Sunday brunch,

    Food was just about average and bland. The server forgot our beverages twice. Once in the beginning when we ordered food, and again when we ordered dessert. The staff were really fast in cleaning up the table right after we finished though. Place sounded really noisy even though the dining room was only about 3/4 full, the ceiling was high, and people were just having their dinner conversations. It's hard to carry a conversation without raising our voice even though we were sitting directly across from each other on the same table. They should do something about the acoustic. Would not return or recommend.
