Monello Cucina - Mpls
Executive Chef Mike “YC” DeCamp has created a menu for Monello that features cuisine from the Campania region of Italy. Our menu celebrates the abundance of the farmer’s field and the fisherman’s boat. Standards like fresh pasta and panzanella are offered alongside more adventurous choices, including a razor clam crudo and whole fish for sharing.

Yes - an excellent restaurant. The server forgot one of my courses, and gradually it was delivered, but I wish she had been initially more attentive.
Mama Decampos is a most delightful classic Italian meal with amazing ambiance !!
A great place to go before heading to Orchestra Hall. The three-course tasting menu was perfect — and the wine pairings added a nice touch. Would definitely go again.
Wonderful food. We loved everything we had from the Yellow Tail and Vegetable Tart to the Beet pasta (beautiful and tasty) and the Lamb gnocchi.
We had a wonderful waiter but the service from the kitchen was slow. We were hoping to eat and finish within an hour but instead it took two hours.
Other than the low class table of dance moms that created unnecessary noise and were looking for marinara instead of elevated coastal Italian, the evening was perfect.
it was disappointing to celebrate our anniversary there. The waiter felt like he didn't want to serve us and other tables were more important than ours. we felt like the gentleman that was serving us water was more attentive to us than our waiter. you could tell that our waiter paid more attention to the return guests more which is cool to be tipped better but also us been new to the area you want us to come back and bring more friends and family with us. From both of us been servers to another it could have been better. This place was highly recommend by one of our liquor reps and bragged about it, but was not the case when we left.
Celebration with my husband
Pre-orchestra dinner with friends. Waited a bit before we even saw a server. Wine pairings came after food was served. Was still excellent— just didn’t feel as coordinated as usual.
This is the perfect pre-Orchestra Hall dinner venue. Free valet and a skyway over to the Hall. The food is exquisite. The service top notch. The space beautiful. A perfect evening paired with a concert.
Great tasting menus. Desserts miss the mark : unremarkable, unimaginative and not at the level of the rest of the food or the experience.
Great food. Nice pre theater menu
I understand that Sunday evenings they change their menu to a limited option and call it "Mama DeCampos". I knew this going in and opted to keep my reservation to give it a try. I spent many years in restaurant management and I could immediately tell this is a money grab by the restaurant because they probably don't have the sales to warrant a full staff on Sunday evenings....I get it. However, that is no excuse for incredibly poor service and even worse food. The Chicken Picatta was luke warm and served "Family Style", however, we never received any plates so we just used our salad bowls to eat from. We were never offered anything else to drink outside of the initial order taking. The marinara sauce for the pasta was as if it were pulled directly from an old can of Chef Boyardee.
We are very tolerant of service and food, and I rarely if at all, write reviews. But this was terrible. We had enjoyed a nice afternoon at the Guthrie and we left Monello angry and frustrated. We won't be returning.
At one time they had a whole Branzino that was outstanding but the current Branzino is just good and serving sizes small. Service was very attentive
We had a lovely lunch at a leisurely pace. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, but I. felt like we received the perfect amount of service-not too much because there wasn’t anything for our server to do and not too little because he forgot about us. Thank you for a quiet respite in a hectic day!
We requested a menu several times before we went to the restaurant. They stated the would be happy to email us the special menu. They did not follow through after two requests. When we arrived at the restaurant we were given an 8 course prixe fee menu for $100+ per person. Deceptive and unpleasant experience.
Great wine list. Well crafted food. Easy in and out with complementary valet. A great choice for Italian.
The only issue was how long it took for the food to arrive after the order was placed. It was a concert night. It took 40+ minutes for the food to be served. Had to miss out on dessert and coffee.
We enjoyed the Pre Theater menu. I had the scallops and my partner had the beef. The portion was very small but otherwise enjoyable. This is the first time that the wine pairings fell a little short, particularly that served with the bucatini
Brunch was delicious. Every meal was perfect and the service was exceptional. This place is a gem.
They offered 2 tasting menus or a la carte, which we ordered. The first courses are "crudo", Italian sushi; they have several pastas and just 3 entries. The menu includes things that I wouldn't eat, such as veal and rabbit. We tried the langoustine crudo with ramp oil and black garlic, which was a tasty couple of bites.
Absolutely the best pasta dishes that me and my partner have every tasted anywhere, and we travel a lot!
Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. He made the experience most enjoyable. The food was excellent! The pasta was the best I have ever had. All of the food was prepared to perfection. We will definitely return to explore more of their cuisine.
We were a party of four on a Saturday night who chose to do a combination of the two tasting menu options. No one in our group thought there were any negative notes in any of the dishes we had. It was all very good. The noise level was a bonus as well. Easy to talk over the ambient sound. It was pricey, but we'll definitely keep this as a top option for a blow-out meal.
We had the best time!! Amazing food and service! Alex was so knowledgeable and friendly! We had never been here before, but we will for sure be back!!
Service was outstanding, our waiter had a great personality and his knowledge of the menu was impressive. The food, drink and dessert were memorable. It was a little sleepy, the music could improved to create more of a lively ambiance - but that's the only thing this restaurant lacked.
We stopped at Monello before the orchestra and are likely to make it our regular thing. We had the pre-orchestra pre fixe menu with wine pairings, our waiter was aware of my gluten intolerance and offered alternatives and the wine selections were outstanding— even got my guy to enjoy bubbly.
We went to Monello for my 30th birthday and had the Chef’s tasting with a wine pairing. Honestly the tasting was amazing but it was the service that put our experience above and beyond. The staff was so attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We went prime time before an orchestra event so it was noise then usual. Amazing place!
I tried the tasting menu hoping to be wow'd. The presentations were very good but taste and flavor were just ok.
Honestly it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had to date. I had been here several times and had a lovely time, so you can imagine how frustrating it was to plan my best friends birthday dinner here and get the service that we did. It actually started off great- we were seated right away, it wasn’t too crowded in our section so we had some privacy and could enjoy our conversation. We already new we wanted to do the tasting menu, and ordered a bottle of wine- which was a great recommendation from their server. We waited about 20 minutes before we finally got a bread basket and another 5-10 after that before we got our first course. Not a single time did someone check in on us after that. Our second course came after we waited for a while with our cutlery down and wine glasses empty. The servers were being very attentive to any table around us, filling their drinks, checking on their meals. We sat in silence, I poured our drinks, sat with empty plates again for 5-10 minutes before being checked on and asking if we were ready for our next course- which obviously we were, then 10 more min go by before the next course is brought. At this point we are getting tired, losing our appetites- we finish our 3rd course and our wine. Wait another 10 minutes- I wave down the nearest person walking by, noticing nearly 2 hours have gone by and we are waiting on our 4th course to arrive still, I mention the service has been very slow and see if we could speed things up as we are now potentially limited on time for the remainder of our meal. Someone comes by to clear our plates, no acknowledgment of the delay or apology. 10 minutes our next course arrives. My friend is frustrated because her birthday guests are on their way to the next destination and we have not yet gotten through our meal. There was so much of a delay at this point we request the check and the rest of our meal to go. We watched people around us get exceptional service, while we were ignored- why?
New Year’s Eve
We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience Thank you
The food was fantastic but when going to a restaurant of this caliber with a world-class Somelier you expect top of the line service. We have been looking forward to the restaurant for a while and we were greatly let down only because of our server. Our server was an older gentleman and not socialble. When we asked questions of the menus or wine he pretty much just read the menu description back to us. We could have done that. Very little personality. You need to pay attention to your staff. They are as important as the food. I have been to places with lower quality food with great service and I would choose that over the poor service at Monello
Visited Monello for my second time with a party of 6. The service was amazing. Thank you Amy and Alex. Amy and Alex helped us out by really knowing the entire menu as well as pairing amazing wine with the Dinner. They also kept us informed of our upcoming Walker Art Museum event and made sure we had an great dining experience plus being conscious of time. The food and drink were AMAZING but paired with AMAZING service made the entire evening. Highly recommend Monello.
Delicious emotion inducing food. Great wine and service .
We went for dinner on Christmas Eve. The food and service were excellent.
Living downtown, Monello is one of our go-to restaurants. The food is always good, the wine list is interesting and the service exceptional. We are never disappointed. HOWEVER, this particular night, everything was absolute perfection and it was probably the best experience we've ever had here. Every dish was truly done to perfection. I dream about the torchio! It was a beautiful evening out with dear friends to celebrate the holiday season. Kudos to YC, Corrine and their entire staff for consistently delivering a world-class experience!
The pre-theatre fixed price menu is a fantastic sample of the menu and the paired wines were worth the price. The Calabria region, in Southern Italy, is featured in the restaurant and reflective of all the dishes we tried. Wines came from Calabria and Peidmont regions and some were daring flavors that may be a bit too much on their own but match up with the food perfectly. We look forward to returning to try additional dishes and wines that we may not have tried before.
Enjoyed dinner with a friend to celebrate his 50th birthday. The staff was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu (refreshing) and was able to help me pair my wine to perfection. The tables were spaced appropriately for intimate conversation but yet the vibe of the place was good for both couples and groups alike. We will definitely return, I've requested a return trip for my birthday in February. BRAVO Monello Cucina, well done!
