We will miss our favorite "family" restaurant.
Thanks for all the years of great dining and sharing with the Monastero family.
Best of luck.

We are going to miss this place, so wonderful! The food, the service, the ambience - all great!
Our first and last time. They are closing after fifty-five years. Food, service environment was utstanding. Service with a 😃.
Sorry to see Monastero’s will close! Get there soon if you can. Food was very good. Our waitress was excellent. She stopped by enough to see how we were doing without being overbearing.
Very friendly and food was great
Fabulous. We’ll miss you Monastero’s
My wife and I went there to celebrate our respective birthdays. This was where we had our first date, our 25th wedding anniversary and now our birthdays. I ordered steak and my wife ordered a seafood with pasta dish. Both dishes were cooked to our satisfaction. The ambiance was good, and although the dining room was almost full, we could still engage in conversation. It's sad they are closing next month. We'll miss them.
To the monasteros family
Thanks so much for many memorable meals and service. You will be missed. God bless
It'll be very sorry to see it go Great people and I'm a dad loved going there
Perhaps service/food/ambiance are going down since Monastero's is closing in less than a month and they are using whatever is left of their inventory. In the past everything was wonderful. Went on a Friday night expecting opera - NOT - when asked why , the maitre'd said he didn't know, maybe the singers were booked elsewhere. Wish Monastero's last days were good rather that having a bad experience
Love their food - so sad they're closing - they've been a neighborhood staple for years. There's no where else to go now. Too bad it's going to be a church.
Have been here intermittently over the years and it is always a wonderful experience. The food is traditional Italian done VERY well. There staff and service are very attentive.
Had a great time with my father and wife, super friendly pro service, nice drinks, great "loving touch" food.
A true gem and long time favorite! So sorry to see them leaving. The restaurant and family will be missed!
The best eggplant parmigiana in the city, light as air. Too bad this family run spot is closing after decades. It will be missed
I have already written a review on Groupon. Great Manicotti and I asked if the chef would part with his recipe. It was a Birthday for my friend and they served a chocolate sundae complete with sprinkles and a candle. It was very special.
Sorry to see them closing after 55 years. We had a great Anniversary eith a group of friends, one last time. Thanks for the memories !
Sorry to see this landmark going away. Our neighborhood really needs good restaurants.
Outstanding food and service! Sad that it will be closing in November.
We were running late and I called and they accomadated us 30 minutes after our reservation time. The meal was delicious and not at all rushed. The only thing they could improve on was dessert my mousse was not fresh. It was my friends bithday and the Hostess sang to her was a goregous operatic voice.
Been there many times. Sorry that it's closing.
Thanks for all the good times!
SATURDAY EVENING AT THE TIME I WAS THERE WITH THREE(3) OTHER FRIENDS; IT WAS VERY BUSY,BUT THE WAITERS WERE ATTENTIVE. A PIANIST AND FEMALE OPERA SINGER PERFORMED AND WERE ENTERTAINING. ALSO SHE WOULD SING HAPPY BIRTHDAYS AT THE INDIVIDUAL TABLES.
A PLEASANT DINING EXPERIENCE.
I have many years of lunch and dining experience at Monastero's. It has always been a great experience for food, ambiance and service. To make additional comment is mute since the restaurant will close for good in a couple of months. It will be missed.
Delicious food. Huge portions. Warm ambiance. Wonderful menu with evening specials. Worth a visit before it closes.
The chicken vesuvio is great. Service was excellent!
The food, service and ambiance of this restaurant is excellent. Would highly recommend
Good food , quiet crowd, reasonable pricing on drinks and free parking.
Delicious food. Friendly staff. Great bartender Paul.
Congrats on a job very well done over last 55 years!
This is our FAVORITE place. We are happy for the Monastero family, but we will really hate to see the restaurant close.
We'll miss the family, food, and all the good times....
Excellent food, gracious service and comfortable atmosphere!
Very nice evening. Food was wonderful. It was a good experience.
We have been to Monastero's many times over the years. We have had a wedding reception, numerous showers, my mom's funeral luncheon, my sister's 90th birthday at Monastero's. Sadly, we had not been there in years, but all the great memories came back Friday night.
Don't want them to close. We have been a customer since 1971 and will truly miss them.
The food was excellent. We enjoyed the chicken vesuvio and the pasta with clams dinners.
Too bad they are leaving. We will miss them.
Braciole was excellent. Sorry it is closing Nov. 18th as I had forgotten how good the food is. 7 friends who had worked in the neighborhood had fun one last time.
My daughter-in-law, who's half-Italian, helped us navigate the menu, which had some interesting dishes that were new to me. Everything was well-prepared and quite tasty. They very cleverly included dessert with our granddaughter's children's menu item, which led us all to order desserts as well. The tiramisu-in-a-cup was the favorite.
A wonderful place! Had our wedding reception there 4 years ago and go regularly for our anniversary. So sorry they are closing in mid November! Go before they are gone!!!
Monastero's has some of the best Italian food in the city of Chicago. We go out of our way to go there when heading up north to any activity we enjoy. With Manicotti being added back to the menu, we'll return soon. Any of the pasta dishes we've eaten we recommend highly.
The food was delicious and so was the wine. The service was great.
It was way too loud when the singer sang with the piano player. While she was talented and so was he it was very loud and disruptive. She played /sang ten minutes on and rested for the next fifteen minutes. I asked the hostess if the singer was going to sing the whole time and she said no which was true. However it was too loud.
Service was so slow, over two and a half hous to eat. There were only 3 tables of customers too. Food was just OK.
