Mona Lounge & Cigar Bar Ratings and Reviews
Reserved a party here for my sister birthday. This place gets too crowded to have reserved parties, also not enough room. The coordinator did not reserved as many seats as requested. Also coordinator did not specify that guest will all have to arrive at the same time, even via email. The waiter was rude and not friendly. Sucks to pay someone 18% gratuity and you only see them upon arrival and when the check is needed to be paid. We had to constantly ask for her and our food and drinks. The actual Lounge was good, if the coordinator and waitress is as good as the Lounge, they may be on to something.
Coming to Mona's is always a good time. However, my last time there, I called to say I was going to be a few mins late (5 mins) and my table wasn't saved. Plus I had less people in my party. We weren't accommodated until almost 45 mins later. I was NOT happy as this was a birthday surprise for my Fiancé. But nevertheless, when it was all said and done, we had a blast, and in spite of this mishap, we will definitely be back.
Although we had reservations, there was no table available upon our arrival. We stood around for approximately one hour and was never seated. And while we were standing waiting to be seated, no one volunteered to take a drink order. This wasn't my first experience at Mona's Lounge, but it was the first experience for the birthday girl in the group....Not a good way to celebrate!
Took some of my Brothers from my Masonic Lodge there to celebrate after we delivered Thanksgiving baskets to families in the community. The service was excellent, the food was superb, the atmosphere was exciting and everyone had a great time. We will definitely be going back and more often as a group.
The venue has a great locale but the set up is wrong with the seating, no ventilation for the smoke, the live band could use a stage and the place doesn't exude the classy atmosphere I was expecting. It's feels more like a man cave than a lounge. Needless to say that our group of friends and I were disappointed.
Excellent outing except the first waitress that we had dropped her tray of four waters on my friend and his dates feet. The glass shattered and slightly hit my buddies girlfriend's feet as she was wearing open toe sandals. We asked if we could be compensated for it and ended up with another waitress who said she couldn't do anything because she wasn't our original waitress. The original waitress wouldn't even look at us after that. I understand accidents happen, but atleast acknowledge it. Other than that, it was very pleasant. We would attend again!
The Mona Lounge is a great place for sophisticated adults to dine, drink, and/or smoke cigars and listen to great live music. My husband and I plan to visit frequently in the future because the prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is desirable (no riff raff). Management and staff was extremely professional, and accommodating.
Mona's is a great concept for the West End. Great music, nice humidor, the hookahs are fun.... but be prepared to wait a loooooong time for service if you aren't a regular. There's a lot of them, and they run the place. Gets extremely crowded and if you don't have reservations or aren't a regular squeezing in, many people are turned away at the door.
Monas Cigar Lounge is an excellent place for food fun and entertainment I've been there on several occasions especially on Friday night to hear Debo Dabney and his band play ....Phenomenal" the atmosphere its wonderful people are very friendly. I've always had good service however this go round I don't think the waiter was ready for a big crowed. he was not the most friendliest waiter considering the amount of money we spent that night...he appeared confused and not so friendly..most of my friends were there for the first time despite the lack of professionalism the waiter presented they all said they would come back again. Once again Mona's is an excellent place to go.
Will be back soon!!
This place is definitely and adult oriented place. Perfect for an evening out. I've driven that neighborhood before and i'm shocked at how i never saw it. excellent atmosphere and the band was perfect. Even though it's a cigar bar non smokers will not be put off by the sweet smell in the air. the service was good and the prices were comparable to what you would expect from an evening like that. Perfect.
I have to say that I was extremely happy with my experience at the Mona Lounge. Our wedding party showed up approximately seven minutes late for our reservation, however the manager on duty was very accommodating as to request two patrons to share a table. Understanding the situation, they gave us the table as a symbolic wedding gift. This scenario not only speaks of the quality of service, but also the type of customers that patronage this fine establishment.
It was also great to see an expanded cigar humidor and a great selection of fine cigars. This was a great conclusion to a wonderful day.
I suppose a cigar friendly restaurant/bar would have a limited appeal to most but for those who enjoy a good cigar, Mona Lounge is tops! Food was really good but what really shines here is the friendliness of the owner, the ambiance, and the music! I'm no longer in my 20's so having the live jazz start before 8:00 is one reason I try to visit Mona Lounge whenever I can. The live music is really nice. This place realizes good music doesn't need to be blasted. Listening to the jazz era of Miles Davis and John Coltrane is just so relaxing. Add the ambience of a jazz club of the 60's , upscale food and single malt scotches and all I can say is I wish I could go there every week.
Usually I don't even leave reviews but this was a must! My first visit was awesome I was treated as if I was a regular. The scenery is great, everybody was chill, service was spectacular and the food was incredible had lamb for the first time mmmm...I will be bringing a couple of more people with me my next visit hopefully next week... see you there!!
Went for dinner on a Saturday night.
Was worried going into it that the atmosphere would be too smokey. I took my girlfriend who had never smoked a cigar before and she loved it. There were several people smoking but the ventilation system was really effective and the high ceilings helped too.
The food was simple but executed well. Great flavor and a classic menu. The wine/drink list is not extensive, but it has enough that you can find something you'll like.
The cigar selection was solid, nothing too exotic but something for everyone.
The highlight was the Jazz band. I believe they play every Saturday evening. They were excellent and played accessible jazz for the average joe. They were never too loud to continue a conversation. Perfect for adding to the ambiance.
Had been once previously on a night with musical entertainment. Everything was on point. Hostess, waitress, food and cigars! Recently went on an off night and the host did not speak english well enough to know what I meant by "Open Table". I was worried we would not get points. The food was still great but the waiter was awful. Nice enough when he was around but he paid much more attention to the bar patrons than to us. There were so few people there one would think it would make things easier. Nope! We could barely catch him to order more drinks and once we did we received very watered down shots. We felt cheated. Not what we had experienced the first time maybe another visit will go well enough to make us forget this one!
I come here a lot for the atmosphere, but was delighted when they added the new outdoor patio area. My wife isn't much of a cigar fan, but sitting outside was perfect and kept us away from the smoke inside. We could hear the live music and enjoyed a romantic dinner for two. What a great place. Food is amazing from their master chef. You have to give this place a try.
A group of 10 of us made reservations and went to Mona for dinner and drinks. Overall, food and ambience very nice. However, I would recommend more for a smaller group as an after work spot instead of a business dinner.
I'd base that on seating. While seating in leather lounge chairs is comfy, it made conversation difficult as a group. Not the fault of the establishment at all. "Lounge and Bar" are more accurate than restaurant. Again, it's truth in advertising on the establishment's part.
Overall, food was good and well prepared. We were in no hurry, and server was professional and paced well. We ordered and shared a number of small plates, all of which were presented nicely, were good, and reasonable.
I actually showed up late for my reservation. But the staff is ALWAYS more than accomodating. Though I didn't call to reassure them that I was in fact still coming, once I arrived they were eager to quickly find me seating for my party. The prices are outstanding and the food is always excellent. This is one of my favorite places in the Richmond, VA area and I've yet to have any form of a disappointing experience. This is by far the best Lounge and Cigar bar in the area.
