We chose this place to celebrate our wedding anniversary after moving to Virginia the day before. We were very disappointed with the service and presentation. Our waiter was not friendly, our food was brought out without steak knives and we had to wait to start eating, and the presentation of the food was not appetizing. Was supposed to be a special night for one year of marriage, and it was not.

Everything was outstanding food to service. I absolutely hate seeing a surcharge for higher input costs on my bill. Just raise the prices of food. So the customer can decide what to eat with facts, rather than surprises. I don’t like surprises. Happy to tip appropriately. But just stop the BS.

My visiting family, husband and I went for dinner. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. The service was well timed. Two of us ordered a fish dish that then turned out to be unavailable. But, they gave us a substitute that both diners really liked. The manager came over to apologize and gave us free desserts. The waiter also apologized. Everyone enjoyed their meals and overall experience. We felt this was a restaurant that cared about their diners.

I've been to Mon Ami Gabi in Reston many times, mainly for business meetings. I always order the Steak Fritte Classique. Unfortunately, this time the food was subpar. The steak tasted like it had been cooked in old butter or a dirty grill. There was a noticeable degradation in the quality of the food since the last time I was there. Our waitress was nice and attentive, but made a mistake splitting the check 3-ways. When the manager tried to fix it, he also made a mistake and brought the wrong check. Without going into too many details, the interactions with the manager were digusting. He was a slime and very condescending. He blamed the poor waitress, which showed horrible leadership on his side. As a manager, you never blame a team member and always have your team's back! We pointed this out to him. We also pointed out to him that not once did he apologize. Needless to say he tainted our experience.

Not as good as it used to be. The bread tastes mass produced. Not the fresh crusty loaf I expected. The French fries were also not as good. The first order came out lukewarm. The second order was good but not delicious - I could stop eating them. I also got a takeout order and they gave me no bread, no utensils, no napkins and they forgot the dessert. When I went back they gave me 2 to make up for it. Overall a bit disappointing.

The Filet au poivre was a little tough this time. The Frieze and Lardon salad dressing was blah. You should try a sherry shallot vinaigrette instead to brighten the taste. And I was really disappointed that the crab stuffed flounder was not available and removed from the menu just 1 day before our event.

My cheeseburger, which was to be cooked medium, and I discussed this with the waitress, was well done. I ate less than half of it. She told the chef and instead of comping the meal or bringing me another burger, the chef sent out dessert. That was nice but it was ice cream and I don't eat ice cream. The value of what we paid to what the food was worth was less than adequate. I do not plan to eat there for a long time.

I took my brother to Mon Ami Gabi in Reston for a late birthday lunch. I've been there before, he fairly regularly as he lives up the street. Everything was perfect, the service, the smiles, the attitude, the food and the prices... all good, we'll be back!

Very good and authentic French Bistro. Quality of food could be a bit better. Mussels portion is pretty skimpy. They need to double the portion or just make it an appetizer. Similar with the Salade Frizze, the lardons are very skimpy using chopped bacon is not a lardon, a lardon is like a fatty chunk or small cube ham. Kir royals were served warm, need to be from chilled champagne. Again, a very good bistro but they are losing the French edge that sets them apart. Please step it up guys.

Our fourth time here and WHY is there a hidden 3% "fee" that staff claims is tied to the pandemic? This was unforeseen and very annoying. Food was fine but there were other issues this time and we won't return. Cheese board was short one cheese, drinks and wine delayed, plates not cleared before the main and the delay when we asked for the 3% scam fee to be removed took about 10 minutes. What a mess from a place we've enjoyed previously.

Ate outside on a beautiful day. Ask for the side outdoor seating. Fully covered with bigger tables than in front. Steak Frites is fantastic. Melts in your mouth. Chocolate mousse desert is great as well. Service is good as well. One of our top go-to places for a special meal.

Had a wonderful meal! Steaks and drinks were great (we both had the ribeye - cooked beautifully!) The drinks - French Blonde (sub with Grey Goose) and French Martini were both excellent. The star of the show... THE SHRIMP COCKTAIL; I first had the Mon Ami Gabi shrimp cocktail at their Vegas location and to date it is the best I have ever had. Huge prawns, properly cleaned and deveined, perfect cocktail sauce with fresh ground horseradish and sliced lemon ....10 stars! The sides/accompaniments left a bit to be desired though. Sauteed mushrooms seasoned well but under sauteed - did not have that firm silky texture of a properly sauteed mushroom. Great shareable portion size though - not terrible but definitely expected better preparation of this simple dish at this caliber of restaurant. The macaroni gratin (mac and cheese)also left a bit to be desired; not particularly creamy and under seasoned. Service was outstanding, they gave us an umbrella due to unexpected rain and were attentive without bein intrusive. The Crème Brulée was good but we had it to go - since we were stuffed. I imagine it's fantastic if eaten tableside when the traditional torched sugar curst is still hard/ warm and the custard is cool in contrast. Not too sweet at all. I will return next time I'm in Va, I'll also continue to visit the other locations when traveling. Only took 1 star off due to the accompaniments/sides; they were lacking for such a high quality establishment. However, this seems to be the case at any Mon Ami Gabi that I have been to. Do stop by! Hidden Gem in Reston!

A lot of business dinners so it was loud. Bread was hard. Escargot was old and I always order it when I dine here. Did not want to take a chance on eating the rest after the first bite. The server did offer to get a new one, but I declined. Dining out is not the way it used to be. For the money we spend, we are better off cooking our meals at home.
