We went for my husband’s birthday since his favorite meal is steak and we were very pleased. The food is delicious. I had the Beef Wellington and it was cooked to the perfect temperature. I thought the gravy was a little salty but my husband felt it was seasoned properly. He had Steak Bordelaise and his was also cooked to his preferred medium rare, very unusual to get both dishes cooked perfectly. The service was very attentive. The Onion Soup was very flavorful but since I am a dessert lover my favorite dish was the chocolate mousse. It was not too sweet, very authentic. We will definitely return.
Standards have decreased sadly in both food and service quality.
It was a great opportunity to eat outdoors, an important consideration as COVID is currently up in our area. Food was good. Frites served with aioli and ketchup were delicious, baguette (separate charge) was fresh, warm and served with soft whipped butter. (It tasted more like sour dough than French baguette, which we would have preferred.) Service was very good although it would be safer if all staff were masked consistently. All in all, it was a nice experience, and we'll be back.
This was our first time here and we came for dinner. We both enjoyed our steak frites! Service was very good. We hope to return for lunch or brunch at some point.
Wonderful experience! Great food, service , ambience!
Wonderful experience and our waiter was very attentive
We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. Our server was Mohammed. He did an excellent job taking care of us. The food was delicious — steak was perfectly cooked. The wine paired perfectly with our meal. A very enjoyable experience! Will definitely go back again.
They know how to cook steak perfectly. Really great service!
The brunch is amazing! Highly recommend the andouille sausage eggs benedict.
The best steak Benedict! Eggs always come out perfect, tender meat, good price.
We sat on the side patio under the awning with the ceiling fans going and a nice breeze. The service was excellent, we never wanted for water refills or drink refills. The fresh made baguette came straight from the oven. We ordered the pâté…amazing! It was served with pickled onions, cornichon and grapes, and spread onto toasted baguette. Scrumptious! The Bloody Mary was on point! The onion soup was absolutely delicious! So good! The entree’s our party ordered were the Ham & Jarlsberg crêpe, the trout Almondine, and the Steak classique and eggs. All of us kept saying how good our food was. It came hot. It was timed well between the appetizers and meal, and we will one hundred percent be going back!
Waiter was inexperienced. Made us box our own leftovers at the table when other servers boxed leftovers for other tables; didn't clear empty glasses, had to be summoned to the table. The chef must be different as regular items as onion soup do not tastes as good as in the past Overall disappointed relative to past visits
Great food and service!
Very good!! The service was amazing and the prices weren’t too bad in my opinion. We had a really good time.
Mussels were over cooked. The meat inside shells were so small they were about 1/20th the size. I know perfectly cooked mussels- this wasn’t it, but the sauce is delicious. Had the beef Wellington special for $42. Sent it back to the kitchen because of the bloody red middle— not the medium well I was expecting. Chicken roast was dry. Confiding cause it was dark meat which is hard to dry up. French martinis were delicious. Dessert was okay. Had the berry cobbler a la mode and the duo cream puffs. Good but not impressive. Our server Fernando was awesome and attentive!
Food excellent, although I note the formerly gratis baguette now must be requested (at a charge of $1 plus). Quiches are as good as ever. Server wasn't very attentive, although he seemed to have responsibility for too many tables. Still, always worth a re-visit. Don't forget the pepper steak.
Disappointed in food and service
A special place in the Reston Town Center restaurant community. We love their Sunday brunch.
Was not impressed with the quality of the food at all - brown romaine, horrible "parmesan" - should be shaved - mussels were absolutely midget. Waiter was super sweet, though.
Always dependable, good food, good service. one of our favorite places to eat out.
Delicious seasonal arugula salad, filet mignon, salmon, unsweetened iced tea, cappuccino, espresso, and dessert. Wonderful staff. Happy atmosphere.
Busy night and beautiful evening on Bastille Day that filled the restaurant and put stress on the staff. They pushed through with a smile and good food. Congratulations to the team!
Great service great good. After a long time without going to restaurants I was greatly surprised how safe I felt.
Ate at bar
Very good happy hour appetizers and cheap martinis beers wine offered
Great food and service.
Herman was an excellent server - love the food and sitting outside
We went early, 5:45pm, which was good because we were seated right away. Toward the end of our meal, the place filled up and was packed. They seemed to have just barely enough staff, but they were still scrambling. Wish these places could hire more.
Service and food were excellent and we had a wonderful lunch.
Tasty meal in a pleasant patio setting. We always enjoy sharing an order of mussels.
Staff is attentive but not in your face.
It's a bit of a drive for us, but we were happy to resume our visits.
The Filet was great and our waitress was very good.
We were seated next to the delivery place for outside seating, so there were a lot of people going in and out, but it wasn't too disturbing to our meal.
I have eaten many times at Mon Ami Gabi, which shows that I like the place, but this last meal was the worst ever. Starting with the chicken liver pate, which would be nice except that it was smothered with a revolting purple sauce that would be much better confined to a separate dish. Next I had halibut on a bed of ratatouille. The fish, which ought to be moist and flaky was dry and fibrous, a sure sign of over cooking. Since the fish did not come with any starch I ordered the pomme puree. Mashed potatoes should be white and creamy, but these were a dirty grey and rather watery. Could they have been made from a packet "just add water"? I won't describe the tarte tatin which did nothing to raise the tone of the evening.
Mon Ami Gabi - Reston has been one of our favorite restaurants the past several years. However, our latest dining experience was so bad we decided we won’t be back. The food was unremarkable at best. We ordered chicken and one of the specials. Both dishes were extremely dry. The chicken (which has always been one of my favorite dishes) was so dry the meat and skin had detached from the bone and was dark and hard. It appeared it may have been left under the warmer for quite some time. The veal was also very dry, to the point it was almost impossible to eat. The chicken was sent back since it was inedible and Halibut was ordered instead. Unfortunately, it was also dry, but worse it was sitting on (what the restaurant) called ratatouille which tasted disgusting. When we received our check the restaurant had removed the cost of the inedible chicken (which was $24.95) but added the disgusting Halibut (which was $37.95).
We have visited this restaurant numerous times in the past and have ordered most of their dishes which have been spectacular. Not sure what has happened to the Mon Ami Gabi in Reston but this restaurant has definitely lost it’s edge. This was a horrible experience with food that should have never been served. We would have been better off going to McDonalds instead. At least their food is consistent.
They had a wonderful prix fixe 3 course menu for the holiday. It was great - you got a starter, entree and dessert. Choices from several categories.
Waiter was very attentive but not intrusive.
Nathan H is an outstanding server
Best meal I’ve had. I had the escargot and steak and frites classique and everything was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant
Fantastic food. We lived off Mon Ami Gabi during the pandemic via delivery and were very excited to go back in person. One of the very best burgers ever. The chocolate mousse is a must try.
Good as usual.
The Manager ensured we had a great meal experience. Weve been here countless times over the past 12 years. Always had a good meal.
Excellent service. Food was superb. Definitely am overall great experience
An excellent French bistro in Reston. The only annoying thing is the confusing parking situation. Signs state first hour free but you don't receive a time stamped ticket when you enter the garage. I took my chances and it was fine but the worry was unnecessary.
