Mon Ami Gabi - Reston
Book your next event with us
The food is great no matter what you choose. Try the Goat Cheese Appetizer. It’s the bomb.
Lunch with friends. Great food and service.
Terrible service. Waitress completely ignored our table. Manager came by to apologize. The Macaroni Gratin was a joke. There was nothing gratin about it. It was just simply macaroni and cheese for kid! This place has lost its value and became more like a cafeteria than a French bistro/restaurant.
Very good before, and very special this time! I am looking forward dining at Mon Ami Gabi again
Relaxing place, enjoyable meal, friendly front desk and experienced efficient service.
Service was marginal. The waiter was bad. He had no idea how to work a table and was totally unfriendly. Plus, the French Onion soup was "unFrench". Just broth with few onions and minimal cheese. Disappointing.
Noise level began around 6 pm...it was intolerable. I would never set a business meeting there again.
My in-laws 51st wedding anniversary
Great as always, no pressure to order get moving, had the filet mignon, awesome!
We’ve eaten here many times, especially for Sunday brunch. This visit, I had the salmon eggs Benedict which was good, especially since the usual English muffin was replaced by shredded potato pancakes. My mom enjoyed the chicken mushroom crepe.
Unfortunately, the service was neither responsive nor prompt. We had to ask for bread which is usually served along with the initial water service. No offer to refresh my coffee was made. The wait for our server was lengthy and unusual.
As an aside, please bring back the skate entree which we miss.
I thought the service here was absolutely impeccable and detail oriented and professional. Everyone was super helpful from the hostess stand through the wait staff to the assistants> the food was well prepared, served at our pace and was delicious.
The specials were a little pricey i thought but for the service we received, appropriate.
Bravo— go here for a very nice dinner experience!
Very good dining experience. We will definitely be back!
I ate here 10/4 and 10/5. 10/4 was fabulous - waitperson was attention, everything was timely and correct. I left a 60% tip. Different story sitting at the bar on 10/5. 3 couples and me (single). They were waited on timely; I was not; their orders (I was watching attentively) were correct, mine was not. They were offered water, I was not; I had to request bread with my soup. I sat for 18 minutes (yes, I timed it) after finishing my meal before I had to motion to the waiter/bartender. I ordered coffee, room temp at best. I asked for the check to the waiter's face, literally - he forgot, I had to request a second time.
This is the best steak in the area and the best secret
Food was mediocre. Service was poor - waiter seemed annoyed that we weren't ordering enough.
I am a good cook so I rate quality of food based on whether i can do better. For our senior leadership team lunch at mon ami gabbi, i could have done better. i had heard good things about mon ami gabbi so i was surprised when the waitress remove plates while others were still eating and dropped our check on the table while we were still eating. that is inappropriate. would i go back? maybe. i believe in the three strike rule. strike one for mon ami gabbi.
Mon ami Gabi is a nice reliable restaurant, the best in Reston Town Center. The food and service are always good. The noise level is bothersome, but we've complained before but nothing changes.
Service was slow, but food was good, as always.
Craving French food, so we checked open table and found Mon Ami Gabi and made a dinner reservation. We were seated quickly and service was impeccable, however, even though it is labeled and bills itself as a French Bistro, unless you consider steak and frites to be the height of French Bistro cooking, you will not find a lot of traditional French dishes here. We did have the steak and frites and they were beautifully prepared and delicious but fairly expensive, petite filet trio was particularly nice with a truffle butter topping. The onion soup was also good. Cocktails were potent and well prepared, no watered down drinks here! Overall, it was a really good meal, just not the comforting French Bistro meal I had envisioned.
Food & Service was perfect. Looking forward for next dining at Mon Ami Gabi
Bread was great
Escargots were not so good or I would habe rated a four
Wine good and reasonable price
Trout Almondine was good
Consistent and good. Our waiter, Michael, was excellent.
The food was wonderful, as always. This time we needed a quiet place to talk, and we need time. Our server gave us both. We were very pleased.
Have enjoyed this place in the past. First, great happy hour! But I’m just reviewing the dinner...all dinners were over salted. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed or just wanted to avoid hearing our concern (salt). He did offer to redo the order but we didn’t want to wait. His response was to let the chef know, and that’s all. Just a disappointing experience.
The food aren’t very French and the French fries were stale on two different orders...
Great food and wine. Lovely out door seating.
Food was just average nothing great. Service was good. Value was not a value
Good menu, well-prepared food, attentive service.
The food was good but service was horrible. I order wine and it came to the table AFTER the appetizers and only because I asked. For dessert instead of dessert spoons we got table size spoons.
Multiple people around us also struggle to get service and their food
Our waitress paid a lot less attention to our table compared to the attention other servers paid to their tables. People who ordered after us received food before us, no one took our empty plates until I stacked all of them after our dessert (including our bread plates, appetizer plates, and entree plates), and we had to actively seek out assistance in getting more water multiple times. When we asked about the delay in our food (we asked because people who came in after us were already done eating while we hadn't received our food), we were told it is because they had large parties, but our section was not that busy and I watched our waitress for 2 hours as she stood at the bar talking to other employees. The restaurant can stick with that excuse, but the reality is our waitress was checked out and it negatively impacted our experience. The lack of attention significantly detracted from the food, which is comparable to other restaurants in the area, so we really don't have an incentive to return.
Brunch out on the terrace. Beautiful day and great service!
Good value for restaurant week, but only found out about the event by chance. We like happy hour there,
We went during Reston Restaurant Week, which is always a gamble because of the restaurants' need to turn tables quickly to make up revenue. Our experience was very inconsistent. Our waiter was clearly overwhelmed by the number of patrons and forgot a few things, plus brought out my husband's Steak Frites well done instead of medium rare. I suspect this was the waiter's fault because the first disc of butter (classique) was completely melted vs. the new one we received after sending the first steak back--the second one was still a solid disc, thus the first steak must have sat waiting to be delivered a long time and kept cooking under the warming lamp. The steak itself once cooked properly was okay; it had an acidy taste to it--like a vinegar wash? Not my favorite. The wine served with our prix fixe menu was meh, and they did deduct $10 from our bill for it, which we appreciated. On the other hand, my trout amandine was lovely, buttery goodness and the dessert trio was also delicious. Other than that, our waiter checked on us once and no one ever came to clear our plates between courses, only when the next course arrived. It's about what I expected service-wise, and the food was otherwise pretty good. I'd go back. It was nice to sit outside on their veranda, except for this one blowhard who kept driving his grey ferrari up and down our street--no joke, at least 20 times in 90 minutes. Clearly just showing off, revving for the tourists.
Great dinner from the Prix Fixe menu (NOVA Restaurant week). Service was attentive which made for a memorable evening.
This is our third time having brunch at the restaurant. As usual, everything was perfect from service to the food
Escargot needs more flavor but it was cooked really well. Trout was salty. Steak and frites was awesome. Raw salmon appetizer was also bomb. Service and atmosphere was A+. Gave us a complementary dessert for our anniversary. Oh yes desserts were also grrrrreat!
The experience was top notch. Perfect for a business lunch or an evening out, the service was streamlined, supportive and not intrusive.
We had a wonderful meal recently at the Reston location. Our steak frites were perfection and the tomato salad was the perfect salad. Service was attentive and everyone enjoyed their meal.
Everything was very good but our meal seemed to drag after our salad course. Took a long time to get thru the rest of our meal. Not sure if the kitchen was backed up but the restaurant didn’t seem that crowded. Other tables weren’t getting food either ...
We had to repeatedly ask for a new napkin and bread.
We asked for a new loaf of bread because we thought it was chewy and dry. The second loaf was the same. Turns out they changed bakeries and this is what you get. Not s fan of the new bread.
