Mon Ami Gabi - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
The tables were too close. We are small and coukd barely move. 3 of us ordered the same thing. My wife had a difficult time eating her’s because the other man was given a portion half the size. She felt bad for him. We told the waiter and you should then offer a complimentary dessert . At that point, he didn’t want his taken away and redone.
We will come back. Our steaks were incredible. The chef should have recognized the size difference.
Mon Ami Gabi is nice, albeit a little trendy and kitschy for my taste. Table for two is too long to have quiet conversation. My friend and I chose to move where we could sit next to one another, and though it felt strange, it was better than feeling so far away and being part of others chat. Food is good though expensive. Service was very good, particularly from the gentleman who delivered our meals and kept our water glasses filled; I hope he receives a good portion of the gratuity we left.
I always enjoy Mon Ami. Always want the fries to be hotter! Always. The bread is delicious, I enjoy the menu a great deal. It was a very cold evening and the restaurant was chilly. Thankfully we were seated a distance from the door. Our young waitress was pleasant and professional.
The food and service was good as always. We went for my wife’s birthday and were very disappointed that no one acknowledged her birthday or they didn’t offer any champagne or dessert. I had noted in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and in the past Mon Ami Gabi has usually done a better job with recognizing special occasions. We like the restaurant but may look elsewhere in the future for celebrations.
Very slow service-we were there an hour before I was served my lunch. Others in my group
had good food but the soup was cool and had to be returned to be warmed up.
My lobster roll consisted of a very large bun, shredded lettuce and a tablespoon
of lobster for $19. I told waiter who took the $19 off of our bill. We were given
a dessert with birthday candle.
Mon Ami Gabi long a favorite. However, rather disappointed this time. "Dover Sole Meuniere" heavy, laden with far too much spinach and butter, and NOT Dover sole. This is a delicate dish of tradition. Suggest getting it right or taking it off the menu. Waitress was not well informed in manner of describing special items.
I’ve dined here a lot. The service is great and it’s a beautiful place. Food is generally very good. This past time though I ordered a steak medium rare, and it was cooked medium well. My friend who ordered her steak well done had a steak that was cooked less than mine at about medium.
