First, we ordered the duck special. It was out, which we were told 5 minutes later. Service was perfunctory. No passion and no real attention to detail. Split the snails. One fork served with the fish and no share plates. Scallops were very meh. Like they were not the freshest. Really nothing we had was a wow. It was not an awful experience but I really don’t think anyone cared. Check backs were late and irrelevant. The chair I sat on was shaky. The wine ( a bottle I ordered ) was good, but over poured like the server was pushing a second bottle. It’s been 10 years since I have been to Mon Ami. It might be another 10 before I go back. I eat out 4 to 5 nights a week. Too many better choices in the neighborhood, let alone downtown. I live in oak Park so either direction is convenient. This restaurant needs real direction and someone with some passion. Come on, Gabino. You are WAY better than this.
Excellent meal with great service
Mon Ami remains one of my favorite places. This time, however, the special I chose was a little disappointing (under seasoned and a bit tough), and the escargot seemed ever so slightly off fresh. Service, wine recommendation, salad and dessert were top notch!
Very energetic place. Food was good. Escargot very, very garlicky! Trout was amazing.
Thanks for hosting our group! I want to say everything went without an issues. Food was great at brunch, the place was cozy, and love the fresh bread. I would recommend this place to others in the future.
A wonderful dining experience!! Many thanks.....M
My wife, myself & daughter dined here on a Friday night. We made reservations. I got there early and I had a martini at the bar. They have a happy hour with 1/2 priced drinks from 4-7pm. The food was good. My wife ordered a steak that had a lot of gristle and the manager took the item off the bill. He apologized for the entrée not being up to their standards. My scallop entrée was excellent. They have a gluten free menu which my daughter ordered off. I'd go back again.
As always, MonAmi was outstanding! We enjoyed the scallops and the flounder - both delicious, well proportioned and enhanced with tasty vegetables on the side. We also added an order of Brussel sprouts - so good and a must try. The service was terrific- attentive but we were left alone as needed for lots of conversation. A great place for dining in OakBrook!
Always enjoy this restaurant. Our waiter this time was excellent by being helpful in both food and wine suggestions
Always a fun place to eat...service is good and servers are very attentive...looking forward to our next visit...
Waitstaff was pleasant and a bit quirky. Good balance of service and not hovering. Frites were not as crisp and hot as I have had there before. Steak cooked perfectly. Would go back.
Absolutely amazing food and service. The waiter made our anniversary feel very special with all the complimentary treats we received.
Mon Ami Gabi is good. Strangely, the delicious, outstanding cheeseburger (Jarlsburg or blue are both great) is one of the best lunch options, especially on the weekends, as their brunch menu has taken over (as it has at too many places if you ask me). Except for a few mundane salads which are characteristically small for the price, steak frites for $24, a few sandwiches, quiche, crepes and a special that's a fish dish, the remaining options are breakfast, ho hum or way, way too sweet and not particularly French, if you ask me. For around 50 bucks for 2 to dine at lunch, Mon Ami Gabi is good, but not great. My friends and I dine here for the ambiance more than the food, and it's nice when (if you allow texts), they offer free items, such as a Caesar salad, which normally sells for $10.95.
Food was great as always but took forever and all we ordered was mussels and frites.
I ordered duck special and was assured it was available. The waiter confirmed the last piece was being prepared for me. Then, the manager came and told me the tragic news, there was no more duck. I guess the bird escaped the butcher’s knife.
However, they did everything to make up for it. I got another dish without charge plus wine and desert.
Only reputable restaurant would do that.
I was pleased since this was my second time eating here this week and I would not expect anything less.
Good food and service, wonderful restaurant that is my favorite of the Lettuce restaurants. I will return again and again.
Though this is a French restaurant, they have the best burgers, right down to the bun! Phenomenal! Great service, atmosphere and food.
We had a great dinner for our anniversary. The food was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
New waiter, Robert, was the best (also is the sommelier) , and we plan to request his table next time. The bus boy was also very polite, efficient and friendly. Our food was delicious and complimented by an excellent wine recommendation by our waiter, Robert. Overall, a great evening!
Excellent place to dine.
Attentive knowledgeable service. Really good tarter served with bread right as we sat down.
Our waitress and buss service was outstanding. We had scallops, trout and a side of really good frites. Good cocktails and soup.
Better than the much more crowded Maggiano's next store.
First time here for brunch with a couple friends. Loved the Bloody Mary! Waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Duck confit was excellent. Deserts were amazing. Would definitely go back for brunch and will go back to try their dinner menu soon
Nice dining experience.
Quality of food and superb service are consistent at this restaurant.
Great food and service. Awesome menu. We both had the "Bone in Filet"...OUTSTANDING.
I would also recommend their French Onion Soup. Some of the best I've ever had.
Very good food and service with a nice ambiance. The seafood platter appetizer, corn chowder soup and banana bread pudding were particularly good.
Love this bistro. Friday nights means they are serving Dover Sole. It's expensive but such a treat. However it used to be served with a lemon Beurre Blanc sauce that puts the current lemon butter sauce to shame. Come on Mon Ami Gabi, doesn't anyone have the skill necessary to make this sauce again? Bruce Williams, what say you?
We dine at Mon AmiGabi often. The food is always wonderful and the wait staff attentive yet not obtrusive.
The pear salad was delicious. The hamburger was ordered medium rare but served well done and the french fries were cold. The butter had no flavor at all. Our server was professional but not friendly. Overall, a below average experience.
While the server was very accommodating (after a fiasco of seating me at a different table from a friend), the food (skate wing) was not superb as it used to be. The cauliflower side didn’t seem fresh either.
I love this restaurant, but this outing was not the greatest.
Always awesome. Menu never changes, would like to see a change every so often. Bar area seats not very comfy and too close to the front door, can get chilly. Other than this, always tasty and great service. Love 1/2 bottle Mondays!
Beef inside Wellingtons was tough with a vein of very tough sinew or grissle in three of four meals. Well below standards for Mon Ami Gabi.
The Easter prime rib dinner was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Wait staff was good. Thanks!
Food was Lukewarm which was disappointing.
Easter brunch was fantastic. Great food and outstanding service!
We ordered and told the staff I had food allergies to all seafood and mushrooms. I was particularly wary of the frites being cooked in common oil with seafood. I was assured allergies are taken seriously. I received my steak and pomme frites, with no pomme frites but rather a heaping plate of mushrooms! It was quickly replaced. I feared the replacement platter would not have the same attention to allergies, but I did not get ill. I admit I would think twice before returning.
An excellent place to go for special occasions. Be prepared to pay for excellent selections of wine. The food specials sounded good enough for to to choose one of the three choices. Was not disappointed. Overall place is a recommendation.
