Mon Ami Gabi - Oak Brook
Book your next event with us
My husband’s family Christmas luncheon.
Mon Ami Gabi is the perfect place. Their Prix Fixe is the best bargain in town. Wonderful French food got $19.95. Of course, we took advantage of it. The Cesar salad, arugula salad, soup du jour (butternut squash), and French onion soup were appetizer choices. Steak frites and roasted salmon were favored for entrees. Hands down the profiterole and the chocolate mousse rounded out the meal.
I went to Mon AMI Gabi with my recent fiancé and parents. We requested to be in the main room because we love lovely environments and they let us choose between two tables. One of the first restaurants that actually listened to our request when booking through open table! The servers were very attentive and friendly. The food was super tasty too. I will be back!
We have been here many times and enjoy it immensely. Our server was Stephen, I believe, and he was very good too.
My wife had salmon and thought it was a little under done. I had the Beef Bourguignon and it was very good but the onion soup did not agree with me. It was hot when it came to the table but it may have sat out too long before that...just hope someone is monitoring these things.
Our table gave a thumbs up review to quiche Lorraine, salade Lyonnaise, and profiteroles (but miss the pistachio ice cream), but thumbs down to the smoked salmon Benedict, which was over salted but otherwise lacking in pizzazz—it needed acid, herbs, something to raise it from ‘meh’ to ‘marvelous’.
All 5 of us really enjoyed brunch. Quality dishes, prepared well were delicious and very satisfying.
Service was attentive without intruding. Will definitely be back.
The salmon on a bed of sauteed spinach was excellent. So was the French onion soup.
Great service, great food. Can’t say enough about this restaurant, one of our favorites in Oak Brook for sure!!
I enjoyed the food, although the hostesses could use some better training. Don’t sit people on top of each other in an empty dining room and definitely don’t sit small kids next to tables of all adults when there are many other seating options. The manager was great he took care of my overcooked steak and dirty martini glass. Overall a really nice restaurant. A bit pricey but not too bad. I had the bordelaise, my mom had the roasted chicken. The duck confit appetizer was delicious.
I do like the food here! Very good! The only thing I don’t care for, is that the tables are too close to each other. It would be nice if they could spread them out so you aren’t sitting on top of other customers. Otherwise, the food is great, and the service is also!
Came here for our anniversary dinner and loved not only the ambiance but the service as well. We got the filet mignon and the burger and both were excellently prepared. Loved our server I wish I remembered her name, she was the sweetest and had the bar tender make me a super tasty mocktail!
Have never been disappointed at MAG...........top notch food, service and ambiance. You can now add value to the equation---due to lunch and happy hour specials.
MAG is our "go to place". We love it.
Fabulous dinner, ambiance and service!
I brought my sister for a wonderful birthday lunch. The monk fish special was excellent!
Very good service ; excellent food. Don McMahon
Took out of town guests who were saying they were tired of eating out...and after we were done they said how they really enjoyed the meal and left clean plates to prove it. Service was impeccable.
Great food. Very loud environment!! also I noticed small little flies on the table.
Great meal, very good service! We’re never disappointed dining at Mon Ami!
Always a pleasant experience. Servers are knowledgeable and attentive. Food is always outstanding.
Love it every time
We sat for 30 min before our waitress came to our table. We had to ask for her to stop at our table. All
Hadn't been to Mon Ami Gabi in a while, but I was not disappointed . The food and service were excellent, as always. There were two of us and we chose selections from the Prix Fix lunch menu and it was a great value. I had the steak and frites and my friend had the chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. We'll definitely be back.
Great Service, Great Steak Frites, and bonus Half Price Bottle wine on Monday
Always great seasonal items on the menu. Great service. Delicious food + wine.
Our waiter was outstanding and made things "right" for our table of four. Very good, consistent meals and exceptional service yet space to enjoy your meal/conversation with our friends. Go here if you like that type of ambiance.
Wonderful and friendly service and great food as always. Everyone enjoyed the evening.
Great tasting food with a nice presentation. Wait staff was superb. We were seated in a separate room to the back of the restaurant. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. A bit pricey but not what I would consider overpriced.
Our server was very pleasant; however, we had an 11:30 reservation, were seated, got coffee, and our order was not taken for almost an hour! Coffee cups were empty, no one asked if we wanted to order, and when we asked the manager about ordering, he responded "your server is with that table" and pointed to them. When our order came, some of the food was wrong. The manager checked in to see if we needed anything and my husband asked for brown mustard. It never came. We did not get dessert and left the restaurant at 2:30. 3 hours for brunch and not by our choice!
My husband and I celebrated our 12 anniversary here and had a really great evening. The restaurant was amazing and made us feel special for the occasion. Food and staff were great as well.
I was expecting a nice French restaurant and while the food was good I did not experience it as a French restaurant compared to true French cuisine. The menu had the feeling of being more of a steak and seafood restaurant. I ordered a steak au poivre and the peppercorn sauce was not overwhelming and good. My wife ordered a monk fish special with a creamy sauce that was not bad but a bit dry.
Our waiter was great, making sure we were cared for but not intrusive. It was our wedding anniversary and they started us with a complimentary glass of champagne and ended with a nice dessert. The ambiance was nice and only moderate noise, so we were able to enjoy ourselves without much interruption.
I would recommend Mon Ami Gabi as it was good though not in the classic French sense. The food was good, but also did not wow us either. I would go back again to see how it is on a non-weekend night. I would recommend it to others with the caveat that if you're looking for a classic French dining experience this may not be it for you, but rather more of a good steak and seafood restaurant.
Food was good. Tables wee a bit close to each other felt like I could of been part of the other table’s conversation. The waitress was not all that good. Ordered drinks that we never got.
Our server was wonderful!
As always, the food and ambience is outstanding. Still our favorite restaurant even though service was not very attentive this trip.
We've been here many times. They've been hit or miss, generally because of service, but, this time they were firing on all cylinders. Service, food and drink were great. French onion soup was a highlight! Goat cheese and snails were excellent. Fillet though good is pricey for the size.
Always a good meal here. Staff are very courteous.
It had been a couple years since I'd been there, but I had remembered it being very good. It still is. Was pleasantly surprised by the reasonableness of the prices, and service was excellent as well. Thought the desserts could be a little more exciting, but a small nitpick on an otherwise great meal.
Time to update dining environment
Needs a facelift.
Birthday celebration, everyone and everything was fabulous. Staff, food, desserts were all great!
This is one of the best restaurants in the area and has great service and terrific food. My mom's salmon and pomme puree could not have been better. The grilled shrimp and my salad were delicious. Fresh hot bread is a great start and the creme brulee is outstanding. Our server was courteous and on top of things from start to finish, even sensing that I wanted an extra cup of coffee.
If you haven't been to Mon Ami Gabi, make it one of your next dining events
6:30pm reservations arrived early, most accommodating, friendly front staff. Restaurant was busy. One of our fav go to places. With that said, tonight’s experience was not up to par. Our soup and appetizers came out together. Felt rushed. The entree’s, trout almondine was overcooked and beef bourguignon was soup. Reached out to Mgr, apologized invited us back.
