Rushed us out of there. Steak wasn’t good. Waitress was great.
Service was great! Very warming and welcoming. Perfect to celebrate our anniversary!
Loved everything about it. definitely going back!!
Went there for a special occasion and was treated like a queen. Highly recommend.
Lovely table, great food and great service. Salads, entrees and dessert very tasty and appealingly presented. Large wine selection. A wonderful evening out with my husband.
This was a fun experience for us all, and especially my eleven year old son. However, as someone with a lot of experience eating in actual French bistros, I could not have been more disappointed with the food.
The soup tasted as if it were from a can. Most of the dishes were sugared, like you would find with fast food. The boeuf bourguignon was obviously thickened with corn starch, and was flavored with liquid smoke or a similar artificial flavor.
This was not surprising when I realized that Mon Ami Gabi is a restaurant with at least a half dozen locations, and that it is owned by a company with something like 50 different restaurants and chains. It was easy to imagine the food came from a Disneyland "Paris bistro experience" fast food theme park attraction. What Mon Ami Gabi is NOT is a classic french bistro.
It was super fantastic.
Yummy as always. A favorite restaurant. Food and service is outstanding. But it is a tad on the noisy side
This is our all time favorite Chicago restaurant. We were looking forward to the dinner getting together with long time friends from Chicago. The wait staff and the menu did not disappoint. Food and the service was excellent...which has been our experience every time we ever went to Mon Ami Gabe. We have been coming here since the days of "Un Grand Cafe" and enjoying the whole time.
Superb and casually refined service with food quality a solid B+ and reasonably priced
One of my all-time favorites in Chicago since it opened in '98. Always consistently perfect.
Love the one in Vegas and this one was great as well. Totally different site but perfect for Sunday Brunch in Chicago!
If you enjoy French food, this is the place! Wonderful experience that reminded me of our days in France.
The food was amazing and the service was incredible. I will definitely come back and recommend to others.
Excellent service, food and ambiance
We always love this place. It's completely consistent in lovely service and delicious food. The bar is charming, the cocktails yummy and classic, and there's always someone interesting to talk to! Our seating requests with reservations have always been honored. What more can we say? Mon Ami Gabi is our date/birthday/anniversary place of choice.
Always consistent. Our go-to for great French food.
Great wines and food.
One of my favorite brunch places in the city! Classic, elegant, lively, fun, delicious, and reasonable - an excellent choice, always.
Janet is the best!
We went for my friends birthday and she is always so warm and welcoming. Food was outstanding (as always). Meat always cooked to perfection and the wait staff doesn’t miss a beat ❤️
Lovely evening. Good table, excellent server and good food.
Food and service were incredible! Would highly recommend!
We enjoyed the best French onion soup ever! It just got better as the meal continued. Our waitress was very helpful with selections. The escargots, the arugula salad and steak fritte with bordelaise sauce was great. The finale was the profiterole!! We want to return to sample some more menu options but it’s hard to not want more of the same. Such a great evening.
My husband and I visited Mon Ami Gabi to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. We were greeted and seated immediately. In fact, we were given a lovely table in a corner. Our server soon brought us two complimentary glass of sparkling white wine, which we appreciated, and we ordered a bottle of sparkling rosé to follow. Our server seemed unimpressed that we ordered one of the least expensive bottles. He also seemed miffed when I told him that we had a coupon. Often servers prefer knowing that we have coupons at the beginning of our service rather than at the end of our meal. The next tragedy that seemed to color our server's attitude was the fact that I knocked over my champagne flute and a glass of water while trying to break the baguette. I was terribly embarrassed and quite upset that I lost a glass of wine and that I ruined our anniversary dinner. Our server and another gentleman cleaned up my mess and moved us to another table, something that made me additionally sad because I had loved our corner table so much! From that point on, the service was so-so. I think our server had just had enough of us. I felt a little better about my low-class moves when I observed another diner drinking directly out of his soup crock and when I heard another diner loudly and inappropriately talk about race issues. However, I felt the service was lackluster because of our (perceived) class and my clumsiness. I have a Ph.D. Clumsiness comes with the territory. I'm sure our server was even more pleased when, after the coupon was applied to our bill, we applied a gift card, placing the balance on a Disney credit card. As much as I loved the food and the ambiance, I'm just not sure how I feel about the overall experience. I'm sad that our anniversary wasn't more spectacular, but I keep thinking about the wonderful escargot, oysters, soups, salads, and mussels.
Great. Fantastic food and service
I was there for brunch and everything was good except the scrambled eggs which were barely warm and partially hidden under the excellent hash brown potatoes. My fault bc I shouldn’t have ordered scrambled eggs; they are usually cooked earlier and kept in a warming pan. But I thought Mon Ami Gabi is too classy to do that. I was disappointed. Everything else was up to your high standards.
Great service and delicious food! Came out fast (maybe a little too fast).
Mon Ami is one of my favorite places. The waiter was great and accommodated me and grill scallops with cauliflower and broccoli with very little added oil. The scallops were delicious. I did ask for a side salad instead of creamy polenta and wasn’t informed that I would be charged extra and noticed when I was home already.
ALWAYS fabulous...the yummiest victuals, fabulous French wines...and consistently the very best service! It is our go-to "happy place" for celebrations...and just for a great night out!
A big thank you to the entire staff for always making us feel special!
Great steak and salad!
Just the most sensational experience I’ve had in Chicago. Thank you!
Truly outstanding meal! Caesar was excellent. Scallops were cooked to perfection. Purées cauliflower was decadent. Can’t wait to go back!
only few authentic French bistro left in chicago always consistent
Mediocre all around. Food was not anything impressive. Cute decor and charming. Uniforms are beyond dated and blah. Menu was basic. Just an uninspiring experience. Not memorable.
Our waiter was phenomenal! Respectful did not rush us out . The food superb .
The ambiance perfect for an evening out .
The trout is a must !
I thought the food was mediocre ordered trout and skate. The food was ok but the portions were very small. The Caesar salad was good along with the mushroom soup. Very small portions but kind of disappointed. Our service was great and had a very good waiter and bus boys. They were on their game.
What a treat to dine at this venerable bistro. Best steak frites in town.
A great place to celebrate a birthday! We will be going again for the Tour de France wine event.
